The community took an in-depth look at strategy this week to discuss the different tactics used, from playing the percentages to shooting from the hip. Our hot topic posters offer advice on these different types of Fantasy manager as well as some early Christmas carol singing – Fantasy football style. Elsewhere, our regular community writers are on hand with advice on climbing up the rankings in Gameweek 16 and beyond into Christmas, while we also see who has already pulled some Christmas crackers in our community leagues and catch up with the latest Members tables under construction.

The Community Articles

With even the most experienced Fantasy managers struggling for consistency this year, Enzo the Baker has presented those in the doldrums with a festive challenge.

To get the ball rolling this Gameweek The Sarjeant was on hand with his regular look ahead to the weekend’s matches based on team form.

Meanwhile YMA presented his regular predictions based on what the bookies are saying and Bolivian Seaman has popped by the fans’ forums for their pitch-side insight.

One differential that could help climb the rankings is Raheem Sterling, who, according to Kavali’s analysis, profits when Sergio Aguero is injured. Manchester City are also amongst those sides to come under the microscope of Rakkhi, with his look at home and away form over the last four years.

Finally, The Fantastic Fox has developed the theory of the baseline defender as he looks for some help in finding clean sheets to keep the Christmas march up the rankings going.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With both Manchester sides battling injuries, Zasa’s analysis of their midweek Champions League encounters gives a good indication of those who are fighting fit and in form this weekend.

A Christmas miracle may be needed to revive the fitness of Sergio Aguero in particular, who once again misses the next match as he recovers from injury. To help spread some festive cheer for Fantasy managers there was plenty of Christmas songs being penned, with this Tyrone Mings inspired verse from Rhysyball amongst our favourites.

On a similar festive theme, Demi was in fine voice to tell us about some of the top Christmas differentials we ought to be considering.

For some those looking to take up Enzo the Baker’s Christmas challenge, December has proved a cruel month so far, especially for those investing in the likes of the misfiring Eden Hazard and the injured Daniel Sturridge. This week’s Rough with the Smooth rounded up many of these tales of woe, along with some bragging from those who captained hat-trick hero Riyad Mahrez.

Bowstring the Carp had a stern message for those who seem all too ready to criticise others’ moves only with the benefit of hindsight.

Elsewhere, strategy took centre stage this week on both the Scoutcast and the hot topics as we discussed the merits and pitfalls of playing the percentages, while Twister Saltergater had some fun detailing the key Fantasy manager groups of dullards, sheep and punters.

Rule changes also cropped up this week, with Deadstar putting his head above the parapet to ponder scrapping of captaincies and ironing out disputes about assists once and for all.

The Members Tables

Scorcher Prime has been busy this week creating a wealth of statistics tables covering almost every aspect of the game from predicting defender goals to the most attacking strikers and midfielders in with a chance of a goal.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Andy extended his FFScout moderators and contributors league lead to 80 points over second-placed Green Windmill.

Ahead of the fourth week of qualifying in the FIFFSA 5-a-side tournament, Cheesoid was on hand to look back at the key events so far in this competition and Jaffalicious also popped by to deliver the latest news from the FFS UEFA Champion League competition.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, The Enlightener hit the top score in Gameweek 15 with 99. There are now 1207 teams qualified after 95 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 43.

Finally, Ralf Buckenmaier is the new leader of RedLightning’s Top 10K Any Season mini-league and is also now comfortably in the top 1,000 in the overall rankings.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Vardy due to Mahrez being on pens. BUT Vardy is quicker than Chelsea's backline.

I think Chelsea will sit deep and play on the break. 1-0 Chelsea. Maybe 2-0.

I've been looking at the same three players. If I buy anyone but Sterling I delete enough of my Aguero fund that I if I needed to I couldn't upgrade Vardy to Kun without a hit. But Sterling seems so darn inconsistent this season: 8.9m is a lot to pay for a string of 2 points interspersed with the odd haul.

You don't need a table, Andy. Pellegrini considers Sterling a "forward". He's always going to be more advanced of Silva and KdB. We just need him to find his shooting boots more often.

    A) Start Bolasie and save FT
    B) Start Pelle and save FT
    C) Do Pelle to Martial and bench Bolasie
    D) Do Cedric to Wolly/Dummet/Hutton and bench him (need them for next GW).

I always followed the community etc advices, and always end a season satisfying but not in such matter that im proud of myself - i took another tactic this year and went for the price chaqnges and hot players - my TV is around 106$ now and i have like 2m in bank with

    Kolarov-Bellerin-Moreno(Simpson, Ward)
    Ozil-Mahrez-Barkley-KDB(Fletcher)
    Aguero-Kane-Lukaku

Gives me manyyyyy options, was leading my ML couple of weeks back, now im like 40pts behind the first place, i think its worth it with the money and value you have, couple of hits here and there, to be able to switch you team arround willingly later and not make sacrifices because lack of $ will pay off, just an experiment of mine but well see, just wanna know if for some of you such tactic worked? 🙂

It's a decent idea. I tried it a couple of seasons back - it didn't work at the time but that's not to say it won't for you. If the like of Mahrez, Vardy, Ighalo, etc. start drying up and the likes of Aguero, Sturridge and Sanchez start firing on all cylinders you'll be laughing

Current Midfield: Alli, KDB, Ozil, Mahrez.

    Who should be my fifth?
    Coutinho, Mata, Silva...?

Ramsey would be my preference but can see arguments for Coutinho and Silva too

    Got this front line:
    Ozil, Mahrez, Barkley, Bolasie (Sinclair)
    Kane, Vardy, Lukaku
Want some more City MF and with Kun and Sanchez 7.8mill burning a hole in me pocket, are any of them worth a -4 to get rid of Sinclair? (and give me a benching headache)
    Or should I just stick?

Probably not for -4 and do you want the benching headache?

I'm considering Bolasie to Silva, but got a feeling Bolasie might do ok this week.

Was all set on getting KDB in for Sinclair, until I watched Silva and Sterling combining so well in the CL. Then I was really struggling on who to bench as they could all do well

That's the problem with city though. points could go anywhere. i have kdb, and thinking silva too has more chance of catching the points. A lot of money tied up if it fails though.

they have to get a few this weekend, surely.

I'm still a bit flummoxed this week.

    DDG
    Bellerin Toby Moreno
    Ozil Mahrez KDB Bolasie
    Kane Giroud Lukaku

    Hennessey Berty Surman Simpson

    4.4 itb - 2 ft

    a) Bolasie to Silva / Coutinho
    b) Berty to Kolarov (bench Bellerin)
    c) Surman to Alli (still bench)
    d) Anything else

Playing Begovic and Aguero so Hennessey and Gosling autosub in after MNF for a nice end of week rank jump (hopefully)

If there's one lesson I've learned from this crazy season it's to always end the GW on a positive note.
