Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ighalo owners, are you looking to sell now that Watford fixtures are turning for the worse? I'm thinking of giving him a chance against Liverpool...

Not selling no. If Watford score he'll be involved

Can I wang it through Christmas with this defence?

    Moreno, Coleman, Ward, Cedic, Oxford

Or do I need to upgrade it? I'd rather use the transfers elsewhere.

May get away with it but Cedric and Ward will probably muss out at some point and Oxford won't bail you out

It'd probably be Simpson or maybe a 4.5. If I don't do it I can get Agurro in for SUN without a hit.

If Ward and Cedric have decent fixtures as well then it's fine.

    Butland McCarthy
    Bellerin Toby Moreno Rojo Francis

    1FT lots of cash.

Rojo -> defender the obvious move yes? Thinking Ward.

Just watched the first half of Man City v Swansea. The Swans looked more like the team of old, passing the ball around a lot - not much end product but slightly more threat than City. The Citizens had one real chance and scored from it. Now for the second half...

I would not draw a definition just yet, it is like the obvious reaction when your manager is sacked. Like the Villa 0-0, could be a false dawn.

P.S. Still believe sacking Monk was a terrible, terrible decision.

      1. Diva
        • 11 Years

Oh for sure, the Swans clearly set up to play Man City. I wouldn't read much into this at all from what I've seen so far. The new manager could have different ideas.

    Morning all,

I've used my Bench Boost this week and wanted to get your views on what you think a decent return is for this chip. I've garnered 13 points from the 3 outfield players with Myhill still to play.

Personally, I feel a return of 20 points across the 4 bench players would be a successful use of this chip. What do you guys think - what points return would you be happy with when using the Bench Boost chip?

    1. Rhinos
      • 12 Years

Well you've done it now so it's irrelevant but you need a lot of luck to outscore those of us waiting for a double week

That's true - I did think I may have used it too soon. I'll be using my Triple Captain for one double week and my second wildcard for the other double week. Are we likely to get 3 double weeks?

DGW all the way. Combine with a wildcard. 15 DGW players thats 30 scores. 150 easily. Deadly weapon

That's what I though - you can't use a wildcard and a chip in the same GW.

        2. Diva
          • 11 Years
          10 years, 4 months ago

Yeah but that dream of 30 has to be tempered a bit with a) there being enough teams with a DGW to make fielding 15 possible, b) the possibility of a blank the week before for some of those teams and c) your team being pulled out of shape before and afterwards.

Oh for sure, but the stars will need to align. Worth holding for it though. You can burn a BB in any SGW. Might as well wait and see if a DGW lands nicely first.

WC the week before it and then play bench boost the week after. The idea is to have as SGW players with good fixtures on the bench as opposed to 15 DGWers. There will probably be 3 DGWs.

I might replace Van Dijk so I could play a defender with a better shot at a clean sheet than Monreal. But if you don't like that idea you're good to save I think.

I'm seriously considering triple Arsenal mids.

Already have Ozil and Ramsey, can't drop Ozil and only just got Aaron, Sanchez so explosive I need him to have a chance of catching some ground up.

Those 3 are the only ones I would consider. Cazorla just doesn't return enough points and Walcott is a rotation/injury risk. For the money they cost, there are better options in other teams.

      Butland
      Alderweireld Moreno Ward
      Ozil Sanchez Ramsey Mahrez
      Aguero Kane Lukaku

      Hennessey Simpson Targett Stanislas

I dont personally think it would be a good idea to triple up on the Arsenal attack though, pick 2.

      for me it's 3 things
      1. can he prove his fitness
      2. can you get in him with only a couple of transfers. don't rip your team apart if it is doing well.
      3. as long as the other 3 are scoring what's the hurry.

I hope that he becomes vital. The game needs him, Sanchez, Sturridge, Hazard, Costa etc firing so there's some diversity. The top 5 in our mini league only have near identical front 8s. Imagine FPL but the only players you are allowed are defenders.

Effective ownership for Mahrez and Vardy in the top 10k are 94.3% and 91.6% respectively. Looks like the only people who have something to gain from the Monday match are the ones who captained him, or the non-owners...

I actually liked them a lot. The long versions, in particular, but already the short ones. The Hobbitt was an utter feckfest, though. I loved the books as a kid.

I mean LOTR books, The Hobbitt was fine too, but I think it wasn't as impressive literature. And yet, it had some really good parts, and in the film they ruined all of them. ALL.

I read it as a kid, and I still wasn't very impressed. But for example, the trolls arguing to the morning rise was a fine part, and completely fecked in the film. I have to say, despite all the brilliant work Jackson and fellows made on the details of the places and characters, I truly despised those films. Watched them all though.

Oh, but I loved the Dwarves singing in the first part. Lovely piece.

It's loooooong time since I read the book, but I remember that at least the part of the book in which Bombadil featured was ridiculously and unnecessarily long, although I have read a good theory about Bombadil that vindicated that part for Tolkien.

I know the wife's name, but not in English. I haven't read the book in English, so I'm mostly only aware of the English that feature in the film. If I'd have to guess what it's translated from, it's probably something like Goldenberry, Goldberry or Berry of Gold, or something to that effect. But could be something completely different, of course.

I see yes you're right. It's Goldberry. The Bombadil thing is the weirdest part of the book. What was the theory?

It's that he's an ancient God of the trees, and of them only, and in fact in power would be quite evil from human point of view, and after the other "evils" of the Middle Earth are destroyed, and elves are gone, he'll have his revenge over the Man and the Hobbit.

The theory is largely based on several cues in the book LOTR, and Tolkien's word that the deities and demons resemble their home milieus, and vice versa, and Bombadil lives in the forest that the Hobbit's know as dark and evil, and the trees indeed try to harm them. He also would also have his own interest in arming the Hobbits as it's his benefit that Sauron is defeated. Also, he is noted as all-powerful, but when Frodo asks Gandalf why they couldn't just give the ring to Bombadil who would protect it, Gandalf strictly declines this as a possibility, and when the whole quest is over, the first thing Gandalf does is that he heads to Bombadil. These are just cues, nothing conclusive, but for me they make some sense of a part of the story that I've always found ridiculous and stupid.

    A) A risky short term option in Hazard/Pedro/Ayew
    B) A solid mid term option in Ramsey/Coutinho
    C) Keep Bolasie and either save transfer or VVD/Kolarov -> Zouma

    Bellerin, Moreno, VVD
