Chelsea’s return to form continues with a comprehensive away win over Palace, with Diego Costa, Oscar and Willian all grabbing a goal and assist. Elsewhere, Aaron Lennon and Dele Alli both find the net as honours finish even at Goodison.

Blues Back on Track

In the wake of back-to-back draws, Chelsea played out a commanding 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace, marking their first win on the road since August. The Blues are now unbeaten in four matches since Jose Mourinho departed and Gus Hiddink took the reins, forcing us to reassess their Fantasy potential ahead of a four home fixtures (WBA, EVE, MUN, NEW) in the next six.

Having bagged a brace in his last start against West Bromwich Albion, Diego Costa returned from suspension to display further signs of improvement with a goal and an assist at Selhurst Park. The Spain international harbours the potential to be a profitable differential, yet his pockmarked injury and disciplinary record could serve as deterrents for prospective investors.

Eden Hazard was subbed off at the 16-minute mark with a groin injury, but Willian and Oscar compensated for the Belgian’s absence with aplomb, notching a goal and assist apiece. The former has now produced one goal and three assists in his previous four starts, while the latter boasts two goals and one assist in four outings, furnishing us with two viable, mid-priced routes into Chelsea’s resurgent midfield.

Cesar Azpilicueta’s 11% ownership benefited from Chelsea’s second successive clean sheet and the Spaniard’s fourth bonus point in two starts. Azpilicueta (5.7) represents their cheapest secure starter, but upcoming match-ups against Everton and Arsenal limit the Londoners’ shutout appeal in the short term.

Palace Stutter at Home Again

Palace drew their third consecutive blank as they failed to win for the fifth home tie in seven. The Eagles suffered in the absence of the suspended Yohan Cabaye, mustering the joint-fewest key passes (six) of any team across the Gameweek. They’re likely to have more joy on that front next time out, though, as they travel to face an Aston Villa outfit that’s claimed just two clean sheets this campaign.

Worryingly for Alan Pardew, his squad has been unable to cope with injuries to Yannick Bolasie and Connor Wickham: since the attacking duo succumbed to injury, Palace rank second-bottom for attempts (25), joint-bottom for big chances (two) and bottom for shots on target (five). That revelation will be music to the ears of Fantasy mangers who have recruited from Manchester City’s back line, given that the Eagles make the trip to the Etihad after Villa.

Lennon Strike Not Enough for Toffees

Aaron Lennon came back to haunt his previous employers with a stunning effort as Everton held Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 stalemate at Goodison Park. The former Spurs stalwart was preferred to Gerard Deulofeu on the right flank, with Roberto Martinez later explaining that he’s making an effort to rotate his squad. Although Deulofeu is likely still ahead of Lennon in the pecking order, the fact that the Toffees embark on four fixtures over the next fortnight ensures he’s a rotation risk in the league.

Romelu Lukaku failed to score for just the second time in 10 outings but kept his points ticking over with an assist. The ex-Chelsea man currently charts top among forwards for total score (135) but has his work cut out across the next two Gameweeks as Everton gear up for road clashes against Man City and Chelsea. It’s worth noting, however, that those two sides have tallied just five home clean sheets between them throughout the season.

Alli Nets Again for Spurs

Spurs extended their unbeaten streak to four matches courtesy of Dele Alli’s silky finish just before the break. Valued at 5.3, the 19-year-old all-action midfielder has chalked up three goals and two assists in six starts, rendering him a prime pick-up in the budget bracket. In light of Tottenham’s excellent schedule (LEI, SUN, cry, nor, WAT) and Alli’s recent productivity, he could act as a fourth midfielder for those managers attempting to raise funds for the capture of Sergio Aguero.

Harry Kane was marshaled well by the hosts’ rearguard and failed to score for the fifth Gameweek in seven. That being said, few owners will be contemplating his sale prior to successive home encounters, given that the Lilywhites place third for home goals (18) this term.

Toby Alderweireld again provided the searching long ball for Alli’s volleyed winner, a repeat of the combination which brought Tottenham’s goal in Gameweek 15. The assist helped Alderweireld to the maximum bonus, handing the Belgian an eight-point return despite failing to earn a clean sheet.

While Spurs have kept just four clean sheets in their last 12 league outings, they’ve conceded more than one goal in just one of those 12 matches – at home to Newcastle in Gameweek 15. Alderweireld’s short-term potential looks strong, then, given that Leicester have failed to score in their last three outings and could be without Jamie Vardy following yesterday’s news on his forthcoming surgery.

Got exactly the same front 8 at this point (1FT ITB) and thinking Arn. I've left Alli on the bench for 4 goals. Not again.

      But Igahlo is tempting too.

      Mutiple options:

      A. Vardy > Costa
      B. Ayew > Payet
      C. Ayew > Oscar
      D. Ayew, Vardy > Stanislas, Kun (-4)
      E. Save and bench Vardy

Not really keen to get rid of Ayew before his nice fixtures, but he has 6 blanks in a row. Maybe E is the way to go...

It's seems I'll be the odd one out not on the Alli wagon.

I like my 5th mid dirt cheap and my 4th mid Mahrez.

Seems a few will be pushing Mahrez up to 3rd mid if they make Alli 4th?

If that's the case surely there's no Sanchez dough.

Surely there's MORE Sanchez dough if Mahrez and Alli are 3rd and 4th? The only issue is less spots 🙂

Think Mahrez could be leaving more and more teams over the coming weeks.

Swansea defender Angel Rangel has revealed he congratulated referee Jonathan Moss for booking him for diving in his side's 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

The right-back admitted he was guilty of simulation when trying to win a penalty at Old Trafford on Saturday.

"He did put his foot in and he touched my left foot but it wasn't enough contact for me to go down but I was losing my balance, and I thought: 'It is not like really cheating but I was falling already.' So I just tried to claim it. It was like a gamble."

Hard to say. One things for sure though...there's absolutely no point replicating those above you.

You either have to find alternative captains to those players above you or some alternative players. There is no other way.

think others will soon be doing this who are chasing, at minute im top of m/l, 2nd in a bigger one, ok at the minute because as you say all teams similar, so they need to do the chasing, was just thinking if ones at or near top did aguero/costa or both, maybe they could steal more of a lead, ? cheers

          Guys,

Just when I thought my season couldn't get any worse I had a 23 point game week and feel like I have hit an all time low.
I am sitting 9th in my mini league (bad considering most below me are now casuals) and am fast losing interest. Its really disappointing after I won my mini league last year.

My original plan was to save my second wild card until we get signs of a double game week but given my current placing and overall rank (1.4m), should I just play it now to keep my interest up and have some chance of saving my season? Even if I now only play for the FFS cup competition!!

          All comments appreciated

depends how far off top you are, in your case keep w/c for any dgw as im sure your rivals will be
depends on if they have used chips, and what chips you have available, remember its a marathon, not a sprint, good luck

Using your WC for a dgw is the best chance of closing the gap. Just keep plodding along and see how it goes

How does this look on a wildcard?

          Butland, Hennessy.
          Sagna, Mertesacker, Darmian, Alderweireld, Moreno.
          Ozil, Sanchez, Mahrez, Payet, Alli,
          Lukaku, Aguero, Ighalo.

          Thoughts?

          Thanks guys.

I'd take out Sagna mertesacker darmian Moreno and henessey at the back- perhaps for Gomes wollschied Cresswell and Koscielny and ward? Also would wait for Sanchez to at least have some minutes under his belt.

If Sanchez is announced fit for this GW(which is looking the case) are you thinking of getting him in straight away? or are you gonna just get the safe Payet instead. This season is really putting me off punts

i got just enough to get him in for Mane(and still have Ozil, Kdb, Aguero, Lukaku etc) .. team value aint that great either. not sure if i should get him in even then though.. Payet could end up destroying me again

I just swooped for Alli & Payet instead. Sanchez had been the plan, but this is the season where form rules supreme. I'll wait for him to announce himself, I think.

          Bellerin Dawson Walker Simpson
          KDB Ozil Barkley Coutinho Mahrez
          Lukaku Ighalo Kane

          2FT, £1.2m ITB

I was thinking Coutinho to Stanislas and Luaku or Kane to Aguero..

ok, planning the same moves and leaves me with 2.8-2.9mln... but I have Oxford as fifth defender, because I had planned for straight Vardy to Aguero swap when Ramsey was still in...

The last two gameweeks have seen the main template broken and players like Costa and aguero come back into form and different defenses suddenly coming into light

          • 10 Years

          Butland/hennessey
          Moreno/Kolarov/dann/bennett/huth

          Alli/mahrez/payet/ozil/KDB

          Vardy/lukaku/kane

1ft - thinking Vardy to Costa? want Aguero but that would cost me, probably be Kolarov or Dann to Davies for the -4 to get Aguero.
          Any suggestions on this!?
