Ashley Williams’ second league goal in the last four seasons hands Swansea a much-needed victory over Watford. The Hornets, meanwhile, fall to a fourth successive defeat as the goals continue to dry up for Odion Ighalo.

Williams wins it for Swans

In front of an audience that included their newly-installed head coach, Francesco Guidolin, Swansea City propelled themselves out of the relegation zone with an attritional 1-0 victory over Watford. Ashley Williams emerged as the match-winner with his first goal of the campaign, steering the Swans to just their second triumph in 12 league match-ups. The Wales international has now scooped 17 out of a maximum 18 bonus points during his side’s six clean sheets this term, cementing his status as their prime Fantasy asset at the back – encouragingly, four of those shut-outs have arrived in the six matches since Garry Monk’s departure. With Crystal Palace (five successive blanks) and West Bromwich Albion on the agenda over the next three Gameweeks (eve, wba, CRY), Williams could attract investment at the 4.8 mark.

Ki Sung-yueng delivered attacking returns for just the second time this term with the assist for William’s goal. The ex-Celtic recruit proved to be a profitable differential in the budget bracket last season – notching eight goals and one assist – but has mustered just five shots on target in 20 appearances this time around. Andre Ayew (7% ownership) remains the most popular route into Swansea’s midfield, but Gylfi Sigurdsson (two goals in three, penalty duties) has arguably edged ahead of the Ghanaian winger in that internal duel. Ayew retained a role up front last night but with Guidolin set to have the final say in team matters, it remains to be seen whether he’ll tinker with Curtis’ tactics.

Watford’s slump continues

Watford slumped to their fourth consecutive defeat last night and are now winless in five matches. The Hornets have suffered from a major drop in form of their strike duo, Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney, who’ve mustered just four shots on target between them over the last four Gameweeks. Although the former’s 40% ownership will certainly be weighing up their options in the wake of three successive blanks, Watford’s back-to-back home clashes (NEW, CHE) could serve as a catalyst for the 6.4-priced frontman, who had previously scored in six straight league outings prior to the goals drying up.

Lukaku looks pretty important to have over next 2.

Do I bring him in for Ighalo or Kane? Aguero 3rd striker

    Bottomed out...

From 7k overall to 130k in just a few weeks, but what's wrong with this team?!

    Myhill, Hennessey
    Sagna, Bellerin, Wolls, Alder, Evans
    KDB, Ozil, Mahrez, Payet, Westwood
    Kun, Lukaku, Ighalo

0FT as I did Kane ➡ Kun for free already. 0.4 ITB.

    Thanks a lot! 🙂

Timing of selling / buying players. One gw late of buying Aguero.

Wrong captaincy decisions. Not owning Butland.

But your team looks good atm.

Great analysis, Kuqi. Thanks a lot for that! I did sell KDB just before that monstrous haul of his, got a Stoke defensive cover in far too late even when Myhill/Evans/WBA were poor. Will definitely be more conservative with transfers from now on.

Armband currently on Lukaku at the moment. Who have you got?

Good idea, currently have Moreno and lukaku ,kun and kdb that could be involved so might not need a drastic overhaul

    2. daveoafc77
      • 14 Years
      10 years, 2 months ago

It depends. If I it's possible and he dgw teams have a couple of good fixtures before you can integrate them in without a wildcard then wildcard after to set your team up while many will be stuck with those DGW players. Depends how much notice we get and how the fixtures work out

      1. BucketHead
        • 12 Years

If its possible I like this as a theory. Even if it costs a -4 I think it puts you in a better state after the DGW but like I say depends on a lot of factors

Easy! there's weeks to chip away. one explosive week and you can cover 20-30 points more than your average player. if you can get 10-15 more than your rival a week then you can surpass it. it's your chips and captains that will make or break you.

It is, especially with DGWs coming up and those chips.

You're gonna have to take chances and get rid of highly owned players though.

May not be differentials around here, but losing KDB, Ighalo, Lukaku over last couple weeks really paid off for me.

Aguero, Kane & Payet(not so much but still hope)!

Aguero will blank and maybe catch an injury that time frame. once the obvious had gone then people go into free fall, it's the smart captains that make your week. Use the force of the forum!

I think the hammers are tightening up. Swans look a bit better and have a manager. Tough. I'd go Kaku if you're chasing but FFF tells me Vice captain him and go Ighalo?!. the old addage is always captain Kun if you have him....sorry not much help there am I?!

      Aguero because he's aguero.

If it was Lukaku vs someone else it would be kaku every time.

Aguero just has that ability to conjure something out of nothing (like Watford when he was hardly in the game)

Rank is in bad shape, but don't want to WC..

Would you take a big hit (8pts / 12pts) to set up the team for a big catch-up effort, or sit tight. If yes, what transfers would you look at. By the way, I took out Ozil last week for Payet not keen on bringing him back yet.

    Hennessey McCarthy

    Kos Moreno PVA Ake Simpson

    Firmino Mahrez Alli KDB Payet

    Aguero Lukaku Costa

Intreresting to see how inflexible they are, now the template has gone I'm closing fast as they continue to captain Mahrez. They also took a panic 20 point hit at the end of the year.

I've seen some talk on here that the DGW in lieu of the GW27 League Cup Final blank could be in Gw25. By the time the secon legs have been played, isn't it going to be too short notice to rearrange the games for that week?

With the fixture list so tight contingencies and agreements may have already been made between the teams, with the PL, with the police etc - you never know what goes on behind the scenes.

My guess is it won't be GW25 though, but that's just my opinion.

He's off form and people need differentials to catch up at this point. Perfectly reasonable to ditch him if upgrading him or downgrading to get a cheap 5th mid to free up an aguero move

Forgetting him being off penalties, he could have scored had it not been for the handball. But other than looking good on the ball a few times he doesn't seem to be getting forward as much. Plus Leicester have tightened up as a defensive unit and can see Mahrez being subbed in games where they just need to keep things tight

      - No form

But CPA has to score after 5 goalless matches, so you would need a goal or assist from Toby. I can't see Arsenal keeping a clean sheet, the chances they gave away against Newcastle and Stoke should have resulted in goals on both occasions, but maybe Cech can bail them out again and Bellerin deserves a chance.

Why do Palace have to score after 5 goalless matches? The odds of blanking when off form, logically, are much higher than the odds of blanking when on form.
