So I did it. After a couple of weeks attempting to resist Sergio Aguero and, despite meticulously constructing a convincing case to avoid him, I went back on my word.

Recovering from the dramatic climb-down, I felt rather hollow heading into this ScoutCast, with Jonty, Andy and Luke all too keen to watch on while I tucked into humble pie.

Not surprisingly, I spend a good part of this episode justifying the back tracking, before I join my co-hosts in offering views on another bout of community questions. We discuss the Lukaku exit plans, Ozil vs Sanchez and contemplate options between the sticks with Jack Butland losing his shine.

Then we move on to the Gameweek preview, as I desperately try to find some joy in pondering which mid-price defender to sign heading into Saturday’s deadline. Sigh.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first aired live on Wednesday evening via our YouTube channel.

You can view the full version via the larger player below, or soak up the more refined audio version via this link or the smaller player.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for updates on new episodes.

NB: apologies in advance for Luke’s sound quality. We discovered a technical problem after the recording was completed. If you’re struggling to decipher what he’s saying, just imagine him agreeing with everything I say.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

As much as bonus points are great fun and add a huge amount to the enjoyment of the game, especially during games, removing them next season would help break templates I reckon.

Players have already been awarded points for goals, assists, CSs etc, why do they need more?

    Just skews the figures.

I tend to agree. Something has to be done about the template though because the game now relies too heavily on having a good start.

Totally agree. Could perhaps drop bonus and add a point to each scoring action.

That way more players would be brought into the game, I'm sure.

Like every year, we actually only select from around 50 players tops. They rest don't get a look in.

They should try to get 150 players as options.

Although I know I'm only doing this as feel I should to do something to improve my rank and Sanchez is not highly owned

I like this guide to GW30. Perchinho's percentage-based one from researching the bookies odds is great too - but this simpler one from Milanista is pitched at the right level for everyone:

My rank is almost 900k. Several weeks ago I wanted to do it and didn't do it. If I went with it would have got Siggy, Ali, Daniels, Ivanovic/Azpi. My ranking would have sky rocketed

I'm in the same boat as you Daniel. I made a WC of diffs yesterday all about 7% ownership. You can get a very good team with that and very non template. It's just the fear of a bumper Dgw that holding me back.

I brought in Vardy. Reckon he'll get one against City, but nothing against Arsenal. Costa could get a couple against Newcastle, but that's it so not much in it. Much prefer having a Leicester player for GW27 and GW30, plus their fixtures are great.

Think you are right about the saved money being put to use on Ivanovic, though. I have 1FT and contemplating Moreno > Ivan.

Wow, Kane is crushing Kun on that captain poll on the last page.

If any week was one to pick someone other than Kun, this is probably it.

      Ozil here

If Watford play like they did against Chelsea it won't be a big scoreline surely.

It's a really tough MD1 selection in UFPL this week. Really want to start Igloo Naismith and Wij but that means benching some of:

Payet Mahrez Firm Alli Silva Kun or Kane! and that's without a potentially fit Lukaku in the equation !

Ugh Evans. Given that I also own Moreno I'm basically down to 3 defenders. Looks like some non-glamorous transfers in the offing for me next week.

Moreno is now not even being classified as a player

          All would be forgiven.

Well, not all, obviously. I'd still loathe him for what he's done to my fantasy team but I might not wish him specific harm any more.

      Me too.

If Walker gets rotated this weekend I am shafted.

Nasty. I should get a team out (barring any weird line ups) but it's a transfer I could have done without needing to make.

Surely a chance Moreno also gets rotated /dropped for Brad Smith sometime soon?

Brad Smith is quick and decent on the ball. Terrible in the air and a work in progress.
Moreno is like a winger with no defensive duties/capabilities. Very frustrating player to own.
In all fairness Moreno shouldnt be the hardest to contest for that spot.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed at his morning media conference that Danny Welbeck will play for the club's under-21 team today.

Wenger said: "He needs to play a few games before coming back. He needs to be patient.”

He also confirmed Tomas Rosicky will miss the game at Bournemouth with an injury he picked up in the Burnley game.

      Evans out for 2 weeks
      Wolly nothing yet
Alli will be assessed again today, but should be fine to play
Lukaku presser today will confirm, but I personally doubt he will play
