It’s time to visit the Weekly Shop this Wednesday evening, as we assess the player lists of our partner games to pinpoint the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As always, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better buys

Fraser Forster’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,900) settling influence is unquestionable after Southampton registered a fifth successive clean sheet since his return from injury. Considering that a sixth shut-out at Swansea this weekend would equal the number kept in the 20 outings prior to his reinstatement, Saints fans will be wondering what could have been if their shot-stopper had been available all season.

Jose Mourinho’s departure from the Chelsea hotseat has coincided with a revival in Branislav Ivanovic’s (FantasyBet 6.5m, DraftKings $4,300) attacking output. The full-back had failed to produce any attacking points before the Special One parted company but has since served up a goal and three assists in the subsequent nine. Although the Blues have now conceded in each of their last seven at the Bridge, the visit of a Newcastle side that has netted once in four away trips gives the opportunity to chalk up a clean sheet.

Dimitri Payet (FantasyBet 7.5m, DraftKings $7,700) has been disappointing since recovering from an ankle problem, with a goal and assist at Bournemouth his only returns in five starts. The Frenchman assisted the winner in the midweek FA cup victory over Liverpool, though, demonstrating the effectiveness of his set-piece delivery, which is an important aspect of DraftKings scoring system. Payet’s 16 chances created and 47 crosses over those five appearances makes him an enticing prospect ahead of a visit to struggling Norwich.

Romelu Lukaku’s (FantasyBet 9m, DraftKings $7,600) pronounced presence on Jonty’s goals imminent table is a sound indicator that substantial returns could be on the cards as West Brom travel to Goodison Park. At Stoke, the Belgian scored a first goal in six league matches but has had 20 attempts over that period, with 16 of those coming from inside the box. The Toffees frontman could reap the benefits up against a Baggies defence that has conceded in seven straight matches away from the Hawthorns.

Poundstretchers

Watford travel to a Crystal Palace side that has lost three in a row at Selhurst Park and scored just three times in the last eight Gameweeks. Even if the Hornets concede, though, Huerelho Gomes (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,300) could be worth considering – he impressed in the narrow defeat at Spurs by making eight saves, a factor that we think is worth looking out for in Draftkings.

Bournemouth’s Charlie Daniels (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,900) has picked up a goal and two assists over the last four Gameweeks ahead of a home clash with Stoke. Whilst the left-back’s crossing should reap rewards in Draftkings, centre-back Simon Francis (FantasyBet 4m, DraftKings $2,500) is better priced if you’re unwilling to splash the cash, given that the Potters have failed to net in their last four outings. The Cherries, meanwhile, have kept two clean sheets in their last four at Dean Court, only conceding to top-six sides Arsenal and West Ham.

Sunderland have gone eleven matches without a clean sheet, conceding 23 goals in that porous run and look set to continue to leak goals. Weekend visitors Man United appear to have found some attacking fluency with Jesse Lingard’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $4,300) continued inclusion providing some much-needed width to stretch opponents. The youngster has scored three in five starts and offers a budget alternative to Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial.

Staying on Wearside, we’re also considering the home side’s new signing Wahbi Khazri (FantasyBet 6.0m, DraftKings $3,400), who made an immediate impression on his first start last weekend by providing the assists for both goals in a 2-2 comeback draw at Anfield.

We return to Bournemouth for our budget forward pick, Benik Afobe (FantasyBet 6m, DraftKings $4,800) – the winter signing may have blanked against Arsenal but goals in each of his three previous outings suggests he is clearly capable of producing the goods. Add to that a visit from a Potters side that have lost 3-0 in each of the last three Gameweeks and Afobe could be in line for a fourth goal in his sixth start for the Cherries.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the midweek fixtures. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

Alright lads, I've narrowed it down to three. Bench one:

    A) Mahrez (ars)
    B) Alli (mci)
    C) Firmino (avl)

I'm actually kind of leaning towards A even though he has burnt me so far. His stats haven't been all that great even though he has produced the goods. Thoughts are appreciated 🙂

Agreed, you gotta look at him in a similar bracket to when Bale and Felliani had breakthrough seasons. He looks class when he gets the ball. Stats aren't everything

Sturridge and Origi back, Villa defence tightening up.

I don't think Firmino will get much joy, unfortunately

As mental as it sounds I'd probably bench firmino.

Liverpool have the least amount of goals in them IMO and may have some tired players from cup. (Nor sure who played)

It would have to be a coin flip between A & B. Choosing one - I would say Mahrez.
I'll be playing both - I don't have adequate bench coverage, though.

With Kane/Vardy up front, at least you've afforded yourself LEI/TOT attacking coverage...

Eh, the way Vardy looked against City I'd prefer to bench Mahrez over him. Plus Vardy has pens

            My front 8 is:

            Alli, Payet, Mahrez, Ozil, Firmino
            Vardy, Kane, Aguero

Fair call. I would anticipate the Arsenal DEF (would mean no Mertesacker) to handle Vardy's pace much better than Demicheles & Otamendi did over the weekend.
I think you're right to go with Mahrez, mate. Quality team!

Not a prob mate. It's been a tough old season for mine.
A couple of FTs - Looking at replacing Dawson & Silva for the upcoming GW.
Playing the fixtures & blanks rather than form - I'll probably look to bring in Fonte/VVD - SOU double-up alongside Forster or ShawX (depending on his availability).
Silva to one of Payet or Arnie.

                  Forster
                  Dawson* Williams Cresswell (Huth Francis)
                  Silva* Mahrez Alli Ozil
                  Kane Aguero(vc) Lukaku(c)

                  Thoughts?

I really like the look of Dawson -> Azpi and Silva -> Arnie. You already have Soton defensive cover so a double up doesn't look necessary, especially when their fixtures aren't great! Alternatively, Francis is an option to play this week

Arnie is a very handy player to own atm, poor form, but 3 great fixtures and a guaranteed fixture in GW30. I might get him in the next few weeks for Firmino if Chelsea beat City in the Cup 🙂

                      Cheers mate! Appreciate the input.
Fair call about the CHE defensive choice ahead of SOU.
If I go Silva > Arnie (even if I decide to go Payet), I'll be able to afford Ivanovic.
                      Choice between Ivanovic or Azpi?

Firmino. Not a nice choice but I think you've gotta play the other two - Mahrez because Mahrez and Spurs are just taking SO many shots and Alli at no 10 with the powerhouse Spurs side behind him and a shaky looking City defence...

    Spotlight on Arsenal v Leicester

    - Do you see Wenger starting Coquelin?

    - Sanchez scored a hattrick in the reverse fixture; too much too soon after injury for a repeat performance?

    - Can you see both teams scoring?

    - Gabriel to start again to handle Vardy's pace?

      I'll have a go.

I think Wenger keeps faith with Flamini & Ramsey. Sanchez was woeful vs Bournemouth and isn't back up to speed yet. Might he be with another week's training under his belt? I'm not sure.

I think Arsenal win this 2-1. Vardy goal. I really don't have a clue who will get Arsenal's goals.

Wenger needs the physicality and defensive ability of Coquelin for this match so if Wenger wants to win Coq will start.

Not sure about Ighalo any more. Also don't think you need both GKs. I'd be tempted to switch Ivan or Toby for VVD and downgrade a goalie then stick in Austin...

this is where my head's at:

2 FT and 2.8m in the bank.

          ...............Butland
          ....Toby - Bellerin - Ward
          Alli - Sanchez - Payet - Ozil
          ....Kane - Vardy - Aguero

          McCarthy; Stanislas, Sagna, Simpson

Aguero > Costa (c) and save my 2nd FT which would allow me to do Stanislas > Mahrez next week and play my AOA chip before finally selling Payet for GW28 against Spurs and return to 4-man mid. Aguero back in for GW29 against Villa at Etihad.

Well both moves this week would allow me to play my usual 3-4-3 in GW27 and I would be able to save. That would allow me 2FT in GW28 and I'd try to save as much as possible from then on 🙂

and probably you'er afraid to bench vardy due to his brace in the reverse fixture as well...

If Payet is a must, then so is Eriksen who is battering him on stats.

Most people are on Kane Alli and a spurs defender, Eriksen is a great pick, Alli is a just as a good pick or even better but cheaper.

Eriksen is battering everyone on chance creation stats.

The fact that Alli who is producing more points than him at 3m less is the reason he isn't a must. Great differential though.

Btw Payet is far from a must

Spurs are an excellent side this season though. Defensively they are sound, and Alli, Eriksen and Kane are all in excellent form against a patchy City defence.

That's what I'm leaning towards as I can't wait to see the back of Rudd. Also option a) leaves my defence a bit strong.

How could anything with a Norwich defender even be considered an option. 19 goals conceded in their last 6 matches. 2 goals conceded against Villa which is like conceding 5 to a decent team.

I will have 11 if all goes to plan. You're right around the players I would potentially want to bring back in on the WC who have increased in price since I've bought them as well - something else to think about when using my 2 FTs pre GW30 🙂
