The Man City - Chelsea one is a real problem if it goes to a replay. Because of the way the European games fall for both teams there is a big risk they wouldn't be able to find a slot for that in the fixture list before GW30. Hull v Arsenal on March 8 could work if the Tigers reschedule their game with Brentford. But tickets for the game against the Bees are already on sale...
8th is CL night so 7th more likely to happen.
Hmmm, Arsenal play the early kick-off on the 5th and Hull's previous game is on the 3rd so that might work. I doubt Arsenal will be happy playing two games that close together though.
7th or 8th isn't much different. CL nights seems to be the big issue so 8th won't happen. Really depends on how next weeks CL game goes.

The difference between the 7th and 8th is quite big in terms of athlete recovery though.
Arsenal would likely rotate 9/10/11 players again if it were on the 7th and there is precedent for FA Cup happening on a Monday after Saturday games too so don't rule it out, though it is as rare as the above.

There's a fair amount of precedent over the last 10 years for postponing FA Cup QFs, it's a valid point.
Hull face three top-10 Championship sides before the replay, which would likely take place on the week beginning March 7, at the KC Stadium.
However, Standard Sport understands that the exact date of the two club’s fourth FA Cup encounter in the past three seasons has not been confirmed and is not expected to be until Monday, when Arsenal will be focused on preparations for their daunting clash with Lionel Messi and company.
Above from standard, sounds like we will know on Mondayyes but until then Sunderland vs Everton and West Ham vs Watford are not confirmed off. Or at least until the draw at 18:15 Sunday.

There was a gap a game could have been played in and given the potential for fixture congestion later in the season it didn't seem right to rule it out. You seemed fairly bullish on the prospect of a DGW25 too, IIRC. 😉

No, just avoid a replay, which they did. The gap in GW25 allowed space for a replay. Admittedly it would have been short notice to organize a rearranged match, but no less time than an FA Cup replay.

One final note, for the record. I have scanned back through Ruth's posts and comments on my blog in the DGW posts and I have yet to find anywhere where he suggests a DGW25 is anything more than a possibility. I hope that puts the matter to bed and we can all move on.

As a Danish fan of United it was a horrble game to watch. But I still think we can pull together in the second leg. Not only based on if United can better their performances, but also because Midtjylland are known being a very good home team and I think the support they got from fans in the match was amazing and could really have played a part.

People are talking about two options to maximise points.
1) WC GW33, BB DGW34, TC DGW37. This seems to be the biggest DGW, so people are using BB here to get the maximum number of DGW players. Be aware though, GW 35 will probably have some blanks.
2) TC DGW34, WC GW 36, BB GW 37. Here you will have a number og DGW players in 37, but don't have to worry about blanks (only rotation). You will probably be more prepared for the blank in GW 35 than above. Personally this if what I am planning to do IF the two double game weeks seems to "almost" contain same number of teams (depending on the teams too of course).
Of course it all depends on hoe the schedule is going to look like, so it is very early to say yet.
If I were you, I just wouldn't use my WC just yet, when your team isn't in bigger troubles than it is atm.

I'm thinking 2, but with the WC in GW35, with the team chosen with 15DGW's in GW37 in mind.
Thinking about this as well. Again still to early to make a final decision, as we don't fully know who will have DGW when and who will blank etc. when.
I just read someone saying that teams having blanks in GW35 will probably have DGW in GW37. Not fully sure about this, but IF it is the case, then you plan would be very hard to do.That's true, but there is almost certain to be other team that play in both (plus you 4 players), time will tell if it's a viable option.

Newcastle and either City or Liverpool, are likely to have a DGW in GW34, and also play in GW30, This would make playing a full 11 in GW30, and 11 DGW's in GW34, a possibility.

You would need a minimum of three players, that play both weeks, so could be done with just City or Liverpool players.
