Our thoughts are already focused on the weekend’s ten fixtures as Fantasy managers prepare for the third Gameweek in seven days. City’s reaction to their thrashing at Liverpool, Louis van Gaal’s attacking options, Swansea’s key performers as the fixtures turn kind and Guus Hiddink’s teamsheet with Chelsea’s PSG clash in mind are all on our lunchtime menu.

City’s response to their midweek mauling…
Swept aside at Anfield and ten points off the summit, Manuel Pellegrini’s men now look major outsiders in the race for the title. One look at the fixture list suggests they have the chance to build momentum, though, with back-to-back clashes against Villa and Norwich surely set to bring major investment their way. With a Gameweek 30 fixture and double Gameweek yet to be factored in, the likes of David Silva, Vincent Kompany and – if fit – Yaya Toure all have the chance to join Sergio Aguero in our short-term plans as Villa limp up to the Etihad on Saturday.

Van Gaal’s attack…
The United boss kept faith in Marcus Rashford for last night’s home encounter with Watford as Jesse Lingard dropped to the bench. Rashford failed to reward his growing band of owners, though, and, after being shifted onto the right flank in the second-half, was unable to produce a single attempt in 90 minutes against the Hornets. Will Van Gaal hand him another start as the Red Devils make their way to the Hawthorns or will rest and rotation, due to the hectic schedule, quickly derail the youngster’s bandwagon?

Welbeck’s place in Wenger’s XI…
Despite bagging a goal and assist on his first start of the season at former club United on Sunday, the versatile attacker was benched for last night’s visit of Swansea due to his long-term stint on the sidelines. With their title challenge starting to dissolve, though, Arsene Wenger has major decisions to make as the Gunners head to White Hart Lane in search of a vital win. The Gunners boss trialled Theo Walcott through the middle to no avail at Old Trafford and with Olivier Giroud failing to score for the tenth time in 11 Gameweeks last night, is it time to unleash Welbeck as the lone striker for Saturday’s crucial derby?

Swansea’s main men as the fixtures turn kind …
A 2-1 comeback win at the Emirates earned the Welsh side breathing space in their bid to beat the drop. Swansea sit six points clear of the bottom three and now brace themselves for a trio of fixtures (NOR, bou, AVL) that could potentially secure their survival for another season. With five tough looking fixtures in the final six, Francesco Guidolin’s men need to get points on the board starting with this week’s visit of Norwich. Gylfi Sigurdsson looks the obvious candidate – despite five goals and an assist in nine, he’s still owned by just 4% of FPL managers and is shaping up to be an ideal short-term differential – though Ashley Williams, Andre Ayew and even Alberto Paloschi have the chance to take advantage of the fixtures and guide their side to safety.

Coutinho’s chance to dazzle…
The Brazilian was rested to the bench for last night’s 3-0 rout over City as Adam Lallana, James Milner and Roberto Firmino staked a claim for our double Gameweek consideration with a goal and assist apiece. A trip to Palace now affords the well-rested Coutinho the opportunity to continue his fine form since returning from injury – the former Inter man has bagged two goals and three assists in a trio of domestic appearances across all competitions. Given that the Eagles have conceded at least twice in seven of their last nine, it could be Coutinho’s turn to force his way into our thinking for the run-in.

Flanagan’s minutes…
Eased back into contention by Jurgen Klopp following long-term injury, the Liverpool youngster was named in a league starting XI for the first time under the German in last night’s 3-0 win over City. With Nathaniel Clyne shifting over to the left, Flanagan’s first-team introduction came at the expense of Alberto Moreno, as the Spaniard’s run of 22 top-flight starts came to an end. Given that the Reds limited their visitors to four attempts on goal at Anfield, there’s hope that Flanagan – at a price of 4.4 – could boost their defensive prospects and hand Fantasy managers a viable cut-price option with two double Gameweeks still to follow.

Bilic’s tactical tinkering…
The Hammers boss sprung a surprise on Spurs last night, moving to a three-man backline in order to solve his lack of options at right-back. This allowed Michail Antonio to operate as a wing-back as the former Forest wide man maintained his superb form by grabbing his fourth successive home goal. With James Collins set to miss out due to a hamstring injury, though, Bilic may be forced a re-think for the weekend trip to Everton. The Toffees have been impressive on the flanks in recent weeks and the West Ham boss may well revert to a four-man defence, fielding Antonio at right-back, as he looks to tighten up against a side that sits second to City in terms of goals scored in front of their own fans.

Ritchie’s momentum…
It’s taken some time but the Bournemouth midfielder is finally showing the form that made him a pre-season favourite around these parts. Having started the season with two goals and three assists in the first 23 Gameweeks, Ritchie has now played a part in four (one goal, three assists) of the Cherries last five goals in as many Gameweeks after earning a pair of assists in the midweek home win over Southampton. Having dropped from 6.0 to 5.3, the Scot is shaping up as a key figure in Eddie Howe’s bid to beat the drop.

Hiddink’s team sheet ahead of PSG…
The Chelsea interim manager’s decision to start youngsters Kenedy and Bertrand Traore at Norwich paid off after they served up a goal and assist respectively in the 2-1 Carrow Road win. With one eye on next week’s Champions League clash with PSG, where the Blues have to overhaul a 2-1 first-leg deficit, Hiddink utilised regulars Willian and John Obi Mikel as midweek subs and is clearly keen to test the strength and depth of his squad. Will Hiddink chop and change for the home clash against Stoke in order to prioritise the Champions League? The Dutchman has already hinted at resting Diego Costa prior to next week and an altered team sheet would dent the Spain international’s bandwagon, after netting for the eighth time in ten appearances on Tuesday.

Koeman’s defensive set-up…
After a six-match run of clean sheets come to an end at home to Chelsea last weekend, the Saints boss ditched Matt Target for Maya Yoshida for the trip to Bournemouth. Koeman continued to chop and change during the 2-0 loss at Dean Court, though – Yoshida last just 34 minutes before a tactical switch saw Southampton move from 3-5-2 and back to 4-2-3-1, citing the Cherries’ danger out wide. Up next is a home clash with Sunderland and with Wahbi Khazri looking key to his side’s survival plight, Koeman may decide to shore up on the flanks again in an attempt to batten down the hatches.

Wickham as Palace’s saviour …
We’ve been here before with the Eagles striker. Wickham’s goals towards the tail end of 2013/14 helped clinch former club Sunderland’s survival and with the battle to beat the drop intensifying, he’s risen to the challenge once again with four strikes in the last two Gameweeks. Palace look far more dangerous since Yannick Bolasie’s recent return bearing in mind they’ve scored three at home to upcoming visitors Liverpool in each of the last two seasons, we’re keeping an eye on Wickham’s showing with one eye on the Eagles’ eventual double Gameweek.

Milner seems to have surpassed Henderson in the pecking order of penalties. Regarding kicks/corners Pool rotate between Milner/Hendo/Cout and sometimes Moreno.

      Forster - DDG
      Dier - Dann - Bellerin - Wollscheid - Simpson
      Ozil - Payet - Mahrez - Alli - Arnautovic
      Vardy - Kane - Aguero

Dann and Payet are guaranteed not to play in GW30. Payet has a good fixture in GW29. The defense also has some difficult fixtures, so I play to sell Dann.

      A. Dann for Daniels?
      B. Dann for Kompany/Otamendi?
      C. Dann for someone else?

Repost, due to lack of consensus.

Given that Cech and Kosc are out for the NLD, would you play Alli(ARS) over any of these:
      Ozil(tot) Mahrez(wat) Vardy(wat)?

                  Ok serious hat is on..

Why Alli over Vardy? I agree it's closer than most think, but surely the NLD will be tight enough, and Alli will be playing deep(er)..

You expecting lots of goals? Both Ozil and Alli over Vardy? Playing Mahrez?

Watford are pretty tight but you can't bench Mahrez IMO, he's in great form just lacked an end product last game. Vardy is slightly more droppable.

I'm expecting goals in the NLD because neither side has been very resolute defensively. Dembele out could impact on both Kane and Alli though, I admit.

Hmm.. Watford are tight alright.. You may be on to something there.
Big risk though with Vardy's ownership.

With regards to the NLD, I agree I expect Arsenal to concede, Cech and Kosc both out is huge for them, and they were already in bad form defensively.. But I can't see them putting more than 1/2 past Spurs... Might bench Ozil 😯 😯

No, you're making me think dangerous thoughts Reedy... this normally happens when I let you into my mind..

I've done C. I reckon Payet will be able to do something against Everton (Villa scored against them ffs lol) but Sanchez hasn't really done enough to justify his place in the team. Plus Arsenal injuries to key players (Kosc; Cech) probably means we won't win the NLD.

Thinking C myself as Siggy is on pens and FK's but City could destroy Villa which means more goals which in turn could mean more assists and points for Silva, but Yaya, Sterling or dare I say Navas could outscore Silva over the next 2 fixtures especially with CL rotation in the middle?

I believe he'd be back in this weekend and surely there'd be goals between spurs and arsenal anyhow so Targett is the better option. If he doesn't play then someone is in off your bench. Even cresswell is a better option. Whu shut out spurs, who's to say they can't shut out everton.

      why did Norwich sign Bamford?

How bad must he be if he's behind Cameron Jerome?

No idea. If he can't get into the Norwich or Palace team then he can't be very good. Championship player of the year - what a joke that was.

If we bring in Silva are there any worries he could be rested this weekend?

I doubt it but would be a huge disaster if that's how it played out

7 days between the Villa and the Norwich game. Can't see anyone rested from the start.

The UCL game is after Norwich.

Silva/aguero may be benched not because of the UCL game .. because if they played vs villa that means 300mins. In 6 days

But 7 days recuperation is plenty. Maybe reduced minutes, but they'll surely start. They need a win.

I think so....and/or Aguero. Not much chance but just a small chance...They've been a bit rubbish.

Reading the Blue Moon forum very few of them are expecting Silva to play - and a few are predictably wanting Iheanacho to play up top as he did away to Villa in the Cup. So maybe it's not as straightforward as we originally thought.

Watching a re-run of Arsenal v Swansea and the reaction by the crowd to Joel Campbell being subbed off says it all.

Wenger subbed off their best performer on the night. Bizarre.

Sanchez was also one of their main threats and was subbed. Really odd.

3 hits against the wood , little tired ? who knows. Bottom line we shudda beaten that Swans side
with any combo. Just, poor poor poor by so many of the players

Yeah , maybe. Going through the posts on here though , many were calling for Danny on, before the sub. Fine margins , as always.. Sanchez 3 hits to the woodwork .

That was never the reason for the loss imo . Character of the side as a whole , in the game , very poor

He just makes weird decisions though, regardless of backbone / character etc.

Welbeck on for Gru would have been fine.

The whole stadium booing and jeering when Joel Campbell was subbed off really does say it all. It's as if Wenger planned the sub before the match, and didn't think to alter his plans based on what was happening on the pitch.

Wenger is just so naive sometimes.

Playing Walcott over Campbell has been really surprising, as Campbell offers so much more in defence. I can only assume Walcott is fine in training and just fades away in the games. Perhaps he has one foot out the door.....

Agreed. Campbell was in fine form and then suddenly found himself out of the team for a while. Crazy stuff.

Yeah. Still love him though. Lived through some great times.

But , have to be honest , time to move on with dignity, get somebody with fresh ideas and more willingness to challenge the board. And a little more cut throat , Wenger so very loyal to his players

I'm temped by doing Alli to Sigurdsson this GW, don't want to lose Payet yet. Alli wiill play a more defensive role due to the absence of Dembele this GW. Alli not 100% fit, near a suspension. Bad form. Difficult fixtures coming up. Europa League. No DGW.

      Forster
      Bellerin - Alderweireld - Daniels
      Mahrez - Payet - Sanchez - Arnautovic
      Kane - Vardy - Aguero (c)

Subs: Hennessey, Targett, Cresswell and Alli.

      0FT:
      Bank: 2.0.
      __

What should I change? What should be my formation?
If Targett for play? Most recently, he has not played.
Alli for Arnautovic I wonder also. But 3 Tottenham player against Arsenal? Hmm.
