Captaincy Options
Here is the top 10 in the FFScout captaincy poll, followed by their fractional odds to score any time, with the decimal odds on the far right.
- Kane – 10/11 – 1.91
- Sigurdsson – 7/4 – 2.75
- Aguero – 11/10 – 2.10
- Lukaku – 13/10 – 2.30
- Mahrez – 5/2 – 3.50
- Payet – 16/5 – 4.20
- Ozil – 12/5 – 3.40
- Vardy – 7/5 – 2.40
- Rondon – 15/8 – 2.87
- Sanchez – 19/10 – 2.90
The top two in this week’s captaincy poll are dominating the Fantasy Football Scout community’s thoughts on where to put the armband. Both certainly have the form and the fixtures to demand attention.
Harry Kane (BOU) – The Spurs frontman delivered a brace and maximum Fantasy Premier League bonus points against a woeful Aston Villa side in Gameweek 30 and could have had four or five goals. He is the striker in form in a team that now has Mousa Dembele back from injury to play a crucial role in Spurs’ attacking play. The England international now faces a Bournemouth side which sits third in the form table for 2016, but have nevertheless have conceded six goals in their last five games.
Gylfi Sigurdsson (AVL) – Swansea have the best fixture it is possible to have against an Aston Villa outfit already resigned to relegation. Sigurdsson, with his set piece duties and excellent recent goalscoring record, looks primed to punish the woeful Midlands side. It is also worth noting that he has had a role in half of all Swansea’s goals so far.
Verdict: Harry Kane has a whopping 43.7% ownership while Sigurdsson is still only in 8.4% of teams. If Kane scores a haul and the armband is elsewhere then a rankings slide could follow. Sigurdsson’s better fixture, however, could make him a lucrative differential captain. With these two key captaincy candidates this week, FPL managers face a classic risk v reward decision when it comes to the captaincy.
