We’ve been left hanging for weeks but finally, on 3pm on Tuesday, we were handed the Double Gameweek details and could begin our planning in earnest.

This week’s ScoutCast is dominated by double Gameweek chatter, as your community queries hone in on the variables, strategies and planning involved in exploiting the fixture pile-up to the full.

I’m joined by Jonty, Andy and Luke as we attempt to make sense of it all, turning to a virtual flipchart to digest and communicate some of the options on offer.

It’s hardcore stuff that takes into extra time in an exhaustive 80-minute episode.

This was first aired live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday evening, Be sure to subscribe in order to get wind of future broadcasts.

You can view that live version via the larger player below, or indulge on the directors cut audio stream via this link or the smaller player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Thought long and hard about bringing in Berahino for Ighalo this week but decided not to.

Hope I don't regret my decision...

    Well, while I'm on top...

    Two things:

Arsène Wenger undoubtedly compares himself to Sir Alex Ferguson and probably rates himself as highly. Wenger saw that SAF was still dominating at the age of 71 (the age SAF retired/won the league) and figured, "Well, if Sir Alex Ferguson can coach at a high level in his early 70s, so can I." Delusion.

The other thing that pushed me over the edge was Wenger's appalling statement, "The people who own this club tell me to be here for 19 years. Do you think they are more stupid than you or me?" Wenger is so out of touch with reality that he honestly believes Stan Kroenke's backing justifies him being Arsenal's manager. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that a sports owner, who has absolutely no interest in football or even the success in football, is content with a manager with an economics degree and who continuously maximizes his profits by qualifying for the Champions League every season while making as few new signings possible to do so. Naivety.

I think getting knocked out of the CL and still being in a wide-open title race at this stage of the season is not dissappointing at all. What if Arsenal were to win the premier league this season? All of what you've just said would look kind of silly.

Why not judge him in May.

getting knocked out of the CL by Barcelona*

      2. QGOONER

        1. Wenger's had to say, "Judge me in May" for multiple, consecutive seasons (And if he hasn't, it's because we're not even competing in any competition.) He also has to keep asking for more time for judgement since his teams have the reputation of crumbling in February and March which never fails to be proven wrong.

        2. 6th straight year getting knocked out in the last 16s (Got knocked out by Monaco last year so always playing against the "good" teams isn't the issue)

        3. We are losing the league to a team that barely avoided relegation last season and to Sp*rs.

Arsenal have not shown a single reason to suggest that they could win 9 straight games in the PL and if somehow they do get 7 straight wins, we'll lose at the Etihad because of our weak mentality.

As a fellow Gooner I fully agree that getting knocked out of the FA Cup was the final nail in the coffin for Wenger, but the real issue lies with having that cheapskate Stan Kroenke being majority owner. Being from Canada, I follow North American sports as well and Kroenke runs all his teams the way he is running Arsenal, which means prioritizing profits over results on the field of play.

      1. QGOONER
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 4 months ago

I agree that Kroenke is bigger problem. The Rams have been and probably always will be a mediocre American football team along with all of Kroenke's other sports franchises. However, Kroenke is in the most powerful position and he knows it. Why do you think he never feels the need to speak out on Arsenal matters? It's because he knows he doesn't need to.

Getting Kroenke to do something financially illogical, such as selling his Arsenal shares, is wishful thinking and I suggest Arsenal fans not to waste their breath. (He also appointed his son on the board aka long term investment)

The only realistic change is the manager and the sooner the change, the better.

Absolutely spot on, I agree it is time to freshen things up a bit and hopefully we can get a top-end striker this summer (probably wishful thinking but one can dream!) to put away all the chances our Wizard of Oz(il) is creating.

    Any thoughts on this fella

    http://i.imgur.com/g3P2Yn2.png

    Forster

    Alder - Williams - Fuchs

    Ozil - Siggy - Payet - Mahrez

    Vardy - Aguero - Kane (c)

Subs: Azpi - Otem - Watson

Seems above board here really. Not much I can see really so kockin' about with that. Might be handy to have 2 ft over the break too.

Was going to maybe swap Ozil for Firmino but not 100%

    Any thoughts?

What happens if the team that won Europa has already qualified for the champions league? Does that rule out a Europa league spot in the Champions League?

I see, that would be lame. So Liverpools charge could come to a grinding halt if they lose to Dortmund in the final say. Liverpool would have much more to gain than a team already in the Champions League.

Yeah, of course a team with no guaranteed UCL spot will should be more focused on trying to win UEL.

Dortmund though have nothing to play for in the league as they are guaranteed a UCL spot and they know they can't win the league, so this is an advantage for them.

Only Dortmund, Villareal and Shakhtar looking likely to to be in the UCl anyway from the remaining teams,

Dortmund are only 5 points back in the Bundesliga.

              This

Even though Bayern are the better team...5 points is a very small lead...can easily be lost in 2 games

Yeah I know, but I think they know that their chances of winning the EL are much higher than winning the league. Bayern remaining fixtures look easy on paper. Dortmund should have won against Bayern weeks ago to stand a chance imo.

Bayern still have to play 3rd, 4th and 5th in a two week spell around Champions League semi finals time. Bayern should win it from here but I wouldn't give up yet if I were Dortmund.

I wouldn't wildcard just to triple captain a player the following week. Just transfer the player in if you want to do that
