Why does Rojo keep going off around ~60 minutes?

    1. Calm
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

It could simply be Rojo getting back to full match fitness, but more likely it's because Van Gaal has a bit of a history of subbing off full backs this season (see Darmian's history for minutes played, he has been subbed off early about 10 times this year)

Maybe just managing his minutes as he had a pretty nasty injury. With the two fixtures he has in 34, I'll take the risk. Getting Smalling instead means losing Kane

For those that have played their AOA chip this season, how did it go?

I played it this week and landed Alli's 6 points instead of Virgil van Dijk's 1 point. I think 5 points is the most I could reasonably hope for, but I'm interested to hear how others faired.

(Technically I could have scored 10 points more this week if I hadn't played my AOA and had played Bellerín over Agüero, but that was never on the cards.)

The driving factor for me was not having confidence in 3 of my defenders to keep clean sheets, rather than a desire to play all my sparkly midfielders. I don't know if that made a difference?

Played Mahrez (the one time he had a cameo - 4 points) instead of a defender who conceded twice and got a YC.

Silly Demichelis and his half-hearted back pass to Hart has mucked up my carefully laid WC 33 plans ... Sorely tempted to WC over the break now. Only downside is that I don't want to show my hand to ML leader who I'm trailing by 70 points. He might just take a couple of -8 point hits to block me

  9. Francescoli
    • 11 Years
    9 years, 8 months ago

    Butland / Hennessey
    Azpilicueta / Sagna / Simpson / Alderweireld / Daniels
    Sanchez / Mahrez / Siggy / Payet / Alli
    Aguero / Kane / Vardy

2.5 in the bank, 1 FT and my only remaining chips are Wild Card and Triple Captain.

What would you do? Take a week punt on someone ahead of a wildcard in GW44?

    Thoughts greatly appreciated.

          • 12 Years

Hmm correct me if I'm wrong, but i think having value tied up in Toby is only a problem if you plan on bringing him back before the end of season. In such as scenario, you'd have to pay more for him than you sold him for.

OTOH, If you are just going to sell him and move on, then value tied up shouldn't be a factor, I believe.

Based on the assumption that it is much harder to go from OR 500 -> OR 1, as compared to going from 999 -> 500

Here's the WC team I would go for if I hit the button now. Comments and criticism welcome !

    Mignolet Robles
    Bellerin Smalling Cresswell Janmaat Simpson*
    Sanchez Ozil Payet Lingard Mahrez*
    Aguero Deeney Kane*

    * indicates players with no double in GW34

I'd have 2 FTs for GW34 : could use that to ship a couple of my single GWers (or account for injuries in GW32 and 33), and get Lukaku or Firmino/Cout for free

Yes and if you aren't wildcarding you will just sit there watching your DGW targets gradually get more expensive until they are out of reach.

They should stop the international breaks there is a better way

So is Lovren + Sakho the first choice CB pair for Pool ? Especially after conceding 3 when Skrtel came on today. Choosing Sakho over Mignolet for defensive cover saves 0.2M but more importantly, frees up a GK spot - and lets me get DDG instead of Smalling (saves 0.8M).

That makes this a 1M pound question !

About Marcus Rojo, he's still building fitness. Playing more than he should. He eventually will be fit later but LVG said he had no option to play him enough last week. This is what I found now.

Nice. But as LvG showed today, he could easily rest/sub Rojo, bring on Valencia and make Darmian switch wings. It's too risky for a DGW I think

    310k 😎

Before you judge, dropped from 60k to 900k over GW11-25 after a horrendous run of luck.

Ain't much but blitzing past smug, average ML mates feels good. Especially those who are rubbish but gave me grief after winning the ML last season with a 1k finish.

no where close to catching my ML. he's seeing it out very well and credit where its due. 2nd place is annoying though...first season ever and he started in GW2. Hasn't owned Aguero all season (100 points ahead of me now)

Looking to at least finish top 5. Was about 120 points behind 4th in GW25, just 4 points away now!

          • 12 Years
          9 years, 8 months ago

Well great work cutting that 120 points gap -> 4 points.

Yeah I hate it when the ML leader shuts you down in the last 10 weeks of the season (I used to be that guy in the last two years, but this season has been a trainwreck!) I have a similar situation as you with third place in my ML, the guy started in GW3 and he's ranked 50k now with a ridiculously high team value !

Similar goals as you I guess, finish top 2 or 3 in ML and get a halfway decent OR.

Yea leader continues to make the right decisions and gets lucky too - Firmino with Bellerin first sub this week. Don't fault him for blocking though. My only hope is he messes up his WC.

Personally just see this is an odd season but trying not to look for excuses - I messed up and as abit too stubborn and complacent after a GW8 explosion. Didn't believe in Barkley and Lukaku...and too much faith in Sanchez. Live and learn! Good luck Enzo.

Not entirely sure. I feel the same as you really the team isn't broke so...

But on the other hand I want to take advantage of these DGW's.

I think what enzo says below is a decent option, maybe bit more than half WC, I'd say change about 75-80% of your team, hold spurs & leceister 3-4 players, then build to DGW 37

Yes it is a perfectly good option.

It seems a lot more attractive to screw your team up for 37

    2. Enzo the Baker
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

If you are WCing now, maybe you can do something like a "half-Wildcard" : overhaul defense + GKs completely, fill these spots with DGW 34 players. But in attack, keep some of the players who did well for you (Kane, Mahrez, Vardy, Alli), and take out 2 of them for Liv/Eve players with your 2 FTs just before GW34.

      1. The Red Devil
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

Yes, even with a WC I'm looking at 12+3 combo, it's insane to sell Kane mahrez, but I might keep Toby and Fuchs too

11+4 maybe, then save a FT in 35, build towards DGW 37 using 4-5 transfers

        1. Enzo the Baker
          • 12 Years
          9 years, 8 months ago

Yep, that's a sound plan, I'm keeping Kane+Mahrez too. Unsolicited advice here, but a couple of thoughts :

I would downgrade Fuchs to Simpson/Morgan to save a few quid - you'd still have the Leic clean sheets covered and Simpson/Morgan do match Fuchs for bonus points every other game.

I would lose Toby. Spurs have kept CS in last two games against bottom half opposition, but with Pool, Utd and Stoke coming up (+che in GW 36) I don't think you need spurs defense.

          1. The Red Devil
            • 10 Years
            9 years, 8 months ago

Lol, honestly, I'll gladly sell Fuchs & Toby, but no good replacements in DGW teams, united & arsenal maybe, you don't think spurs will keep many CSs till the end of the season?

            1. Enzo the Baker
              • 12 Years
              9 years, 8 months ago

              Ha, yeah fair enough 🙂

@spurs - I can realistically see just 1 CS in the next 5 GWs. They have the firepower to outscore their opponents so I don't think they care as much as Leic about keeping a CS ..

In terms of replacements, apart from Bellerin and Smalling I think I like the look of Cresswell (couple of good chances in the Chelsea game), maybe Janmaat and Sakho as well

I'm not so sure on sakho & jaanmaat, I'll maybe get one of them, maybe jaanmaat, but yes, bellerin smalling & cresswell are definitely in, other two depending on cash left

UFPL question. Sorry if this is obvious but I can't find it in the rules. In a DGW can you substitute a player out and then back in again for their second game later in the week? I assume you'd lose their first set of points but being able to do this may still be useful. Or once you've subbed them is that it for the week?

A similar question applies to captaincy. Can I captain Player A on Saturday, switch to Player B on Sunday then back to Player A for his second fixture?

    1.
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

No, once you sub someone out you can't put them back in on a later matchday.

and captaincy you can't switch to anyone who has already played a game.
