Toby Alderweireld recovers from a stomach bug in time for Tottenham’s trip to Anfield. Arsenal’s Petr Cech remains a doubt, James Tomkins returns for West Ham, whilst Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is still struggling with a hamstring problem.

Toby Alderweireld has fully recovered from the illness that forced him to miss out for Belgium in midweek. Mauricio Pochettino also revealed that Jan Vertonghen is “very, very close” to being available, whilst Erik Lamela –who picked up a knock during the break – will be assessed once he arrives back from a long-haul flight.

Yohan Cabaye, Mile Jedinak and Emmanuel Adebayor are all doubts for Palace’s trip to Upton Park. Connor Wickham looks set to miss out again but could be in contention for next week, according to Alan Pardew.

Aston Villa caretaker boss Erik Black has revealed that the club are currently conducting an internal investigation. Whilst this is underway, Gabby Agbonlahor won’t be available for selection.

Younes Kaboul, Wahbi Khazri and Lamine Kone are all fit for Sunderland’s home clash with West Brom. Billy Jones is doubtful due to a minor knock, whilst DeAndre Yedlin will be assessed after arriving back late from international duties.

Reports in the local press suggest that Roberto Firmino remains a big doubt due to a hamstring problem, with the Brazilian again failing to train yesterday. Christian Benteke also missed out, though Divock Origi and Philippe Coutinho both took part in the session, with the latter showing no ill-effects from a long-haul flight back fro South America.

Andre Ayew misses out once again as Swansea make their way to the Britannia. Jefferson Montero and Modou Barrow will be assessed after long-hauls flights back from international duties but are expected to be available.

Eddie Howe is optimistic on Josh King and Harry Arter’s fitness after both pulled out of international duties over the last fortnight.

Petr Cech remains uncertain to return in time for Arsenal’s home clash with Watford, though the keeper is back in training today. Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini remain sidelined, though both have a chance of returning next weekend, according to Arsene Wenger.

James Tomkins is available for West Ham’s home encounter with Palace. James Collins and Sam Byram are both “progressing well”, according to Slaven Bilic, but remain sidelined for the weekend.

John Stones has shrugged off a knock in time for Everton’s trip to Old Trafford on Sunday. Roberto Martinez has also revealed that Bryan Oviedo is available after recovering from a chest infection, whilst Kevin Mirallas is also back in the fold after serving a two-match ban.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

    GW32 WC:

    Darlow / Robles
    Bellerin / Reid / Dann / Sakho / Ivanovic
    Ozil / Payet / Bolasie / Iwobi / Mahrez
    Kun / Lukaku / Kane

1.6 in bank with Sturridge, Firmino, United defender or a Iwobi replacement. What do you guys think?

    1. matiakez
      • 15 Years
      9 years, 11 months ago

I'd not even considered Iwobi, you confident he'll get the games?

      1. mikess
        • 15 Years
        9 years, 11 months ago

This week maybe. I can work him to someone like Milner fairly easy. He's an enabler. Would be benched 33 for Bolassie anyway. Keep in 34 if he's involved heavily up to then

    2. Charlie Austin Powers
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 11 months ago

Lingard for Iwobi. Slightly cheaper and will be good Man Utd cover, come game week 34 (Two "easy on paper" home games).
Dann is expensive for a side that leak goals, but you've probably done that based on GW33 Double for Palace. Maybe drop Dann and potentially bring in Bolasie as a 5th Mid. Consider Rose or maybe Walker (TH).

      1. mikess
        • 15 Years
        9 years, 11 months ago

Cheers. Dann is expensive but it's to have his goal threat for 4 games I'm two weeks. Worried Lingard will loose his place to Rooney. I know same can be said about Iwobi but I can't have anymore players definitely without a game in 35

    GKs are Forster, Elliot.
Elliot -> Hennessey or Robles is an obvious transfer, in advance of GW33.

Is Hennessey still nailed on? He has two home games in GW33.
Not that Palace are keeping clean sheets nowadays, though ...

Pinch, punch, first day of the month (no returns!)

      WC defence is

      Robles Darlow
      Smalling Otamendi Bellerin Sakho ***

Best 5.2 defender to fill that gap?

A: Clyne (gives the full 15dgwers but blocks Sturridge later and double LIV defence)
B: PVA (great fixture this week, plays in 35, double in 37 but would leave me 14 doublers)
C: Janmaat (gives the full 15 dgwers but also gives double NEW defence)
D: Rojo (Double United defence but not nailed and another gw35 problem)
E: Simpson (forget dgws he plays 35 and is cheap)
F: Any other suggestion up to 5.2

Klose is one I've got an eye on, bonus magnet and double in 37. That rules Rojo out for you

Cheers, yep Rojos fixtures in 34 are the only one I've really considered is worth suffering the 35 blank for

Fair enough. I'd stay away from pool full backs. Fixture congestion and Flanno = rotation.

Very nice. Darlow and Firmino are your question marks. The cheap keeper combo gives you roster flex, but when you're not starting Robles (who may lose a match to Howard), you're stuck with an unknown keeper go on a weak team. Firmino is currently hurt, so switch to Coutinho if firms status doesn't improve or you fear recurrence of his hamstring injury (a common thing).

I have injuries to Shaqiri and Butland

                      2FT and 0.6 ITB

Who to bring in, looking only at players with double gameweeks and additional fixtures.

One option is to play Hennessey
and bring in Lukaku and Lennon for Vardy and the injured Shaqiri.

Really not sure about this one, would like to add someone from Everton in particular, so surely can't look past Lukaku sooner rather than later.

Plenty of teams that should have stuff to play for... Man Utd, West Ham, Sunderland, Norwich.. Can't see Liverpool and Watford rotating too much and Chelsea will still have players that will definitely get gametime.. Plenty of players imo.

Why? A hand-picked 15 in GW36 for GW37 is going to be much better than a herd of rotation risk legacy players from 6 weeks before

The key is using teams with something to play for and not picking fringe players. Teams in a relegation scrap would be crucified if they rested their best players at that stage of the season. Likewise 4th may not be settled by then.

If you load a WC36 team on fringe Chelsea/Liverpool players then yes, you'll get burnt.

                      Hi guys

Which defender for the next TWO gameweeks is best to have?
(Still got Wildcard so plan on using that in week34)

Selling Cedric, so will have 6.1 left in the bank.

                      Thinking of Azpillicueta (Villa, Swansea)??

Torn between Aguero and Payet, still!

                      Basic ledger:

                      Payet
                      + Form
                      + Fixture
                      + Differential from ML leader
                      + On form for country
                      + Flew back from France
                      + Set pieces
                      - Relies on FKs/rebounds/long shots (anecdotal - please disprove)

                      Aguero
                      + Explosive potential
+ Fixture (Probably an open game vs. Bou)
+ Safety in numbers (maj. will captain Aguero)
+ On pens in a game with Robert Madeley (given an astonishing 12 pens in 20 games according to transfermarkt: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robert-madley/profil/schiedsrichter/3996)
                      - Flew back from Argentina
                      - Team nor player appear to be on form

                      Can't wait til Captain Sensible!

Meantime - any "silver bullet" stat out there to make the decision conclusively?

                        Turning point for ManCity imo.
Kun played only 20min of last match and already back from Argentina fit.

Purely for safety, even though I am chasing a 40pts lead, I'll go with the crowd this week. Strategy starts as from next week.

I'd still say Cech for the next 5, even if he misses out this week.
                          Next is DDG.

Now a good time to use AOA? Has anyone used it already and really benefited?

                      Schmeichel
                      Bellerin - Azpilicueta
                      Ozil - Alli - Payet - Arnautovic - Mahrez
                      Vardy - Kane - Aguero

                      (Butland, Aldeweireld, Dawson, Williams)

It gave me minimal gains but did cover my losses from additonal transfers, so left me quite neutral.
