The flutter of wildcards from last week turned into a full blown hurricane as many in the community look to take advantage of the double Gameweeks. Our community writers were on hand with some expert advice for wildcarders and those determined to use their chips. Meanwhile, our hot topic posters assessed both the key double-fixture targets and ones to avoid. In our Members section, a raft of tables have emerged to offer further guidance on the best players to consider for the hectic season run-in. There was also some shock news from our own moderators and contributors league this week in our run down of our latest community league standings.

The Community Articles

To help with some key wildcard questions the Fantasy Football Scout contributors and moderators put their new squads up for scrutiny in a series of Rate My Wildcard Team articles. My Phil Jagielka focused effort was first up, while Kevin De Bruyne figured prominently in Andy85wsm’s midweek article and today Spencer took over the discussion, with a look at budget goalkeeper options.

All three of our contributors are looking to field 15 double-fixture players in a bench-boosted Gameweek 34. According to Mr T’s chip analysis, though, it may not offer the spectacular returns many envisage.

There was plenty of further advice on key transfers from our community writers during the week. The Fantasy Football Frog investigated whether popular wildcard differentials in midfield can match the returns of the Fantasy Premier League’s highest scoring players. He also carried out the same analysis for forwards.

There was also more colour coded team ratings from The Sarjeant ahead of Gameweek 33 and Bolivian Seaman‘s regular look at the fans’ forums.

Among the best advice over the last month on tackling the double Gameweeks was Balders’ two articles on fixture and chip strategy. These helped him scoop a £20 Amazon voucher prize after being named by you as the best community writer in March.

April has already started well for the FPL veterans being tracked by Kavali. His latest article on their march up the rankings found that 18 of the 34 being tracked are now installed within the top 20,000 managers.

Finally, for those looking to play Indian Premier League Fantasy Cricket Pompey Fan was on hand to look over the rules and key strategies. Meanwhile, Team Cruel also dropped by to offer his thoughts on the best players to draft in.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With lacklustre Aston Villa and clean sheet-shy Crystal Palace visiting in Gameweek 34 Manchester United have emerged as an important team for wildcarders to focus on. According to Woodsy Owl, Anthony Martial looks a great acquisition due to a track record of punishing minnows at Old Trafford.

In defence, though, options are scarce, with Chris Smalling and David De Gea the only sure starters. YMA lamented the precarious minutes of Manchester United’s full backs, while Balders revealed the cost to FPL managers of centre back Daley Blind’s classification as a midfielder.

There were even doubts, from Alli is the new Mahrez, about the value of drafting in Dimitri Payet ahead of West Ham’s double Gameweek 34. However, many who responded to his discussion believe his free kick prowess is too good to ignore.

Further to Mr T’s community article on the value of chips we asked those who are bench boosting in Gameweek 34 to predict how many points those riding the pine will bring in.

Many of these key Gameweek 33 wildcard issues were also addressed in Beavissurvey of the community’s plans for tackling the double Gameweeks.

Finally, those who wildcarded early in Gameweek 32 offer hope of strong returns for those taking the plunge this week. These early birds featured prominently in our Rough with the Smooth look back at last weekend’s fixtures, while Balders’ research into their transfers highlights the top-performing players.

The Members Tables

For those eyeing up a Crystal Palace defender The Fantasy Football Frog has compiled this table of their most attacking centre backs and full backs. Ahead of Gameweek 34, Andreimkh has been taking a look at Manchester United’s most attacking assets.

Sinik has been seeing how Sergio Aguero stacks up against the other form strikers and bezzer provides good news for Romelu Lukaku suitors, in his investigation into teams that are conceding the most big chances.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

In addition, with blanks and double Gameweeks now here it is wise to sort by matches rather than Gameweeks to give a fairer gauge of form,

The Community Tournaments

Evs has finally overtaken Andy, by a slender margin of three points, in the Fantasy Football Scout moderators and contributors league after nibbling at his heels for most of 2016.

Jarvish’s Frequent Posters Cup quarter final draw sees Icon square up to Spectrum, Sepp Blattered take on Juggos, Ayew Serious faces Jonty (ie, me), while Spineless Weasel clashes with Feed Feo.

James Ollerenshaw has regained the lead in Red Lightning’s Top 10k Any Season league, which now has eight teams in the overall top 1,000. In Red Lightning’s January to May league Nial Akata retains top spot.

Those that wildcarded early were amongst the high fliers in the first week of the inaugural Going out with a bang league. Shane Griffin and Rob Ziegler took joint first with their wildcards netting them a score of 96 in Gameweek 32. Set up by Kings of Lyon, this league has the dual aim of gathering research about the use of end of season chips as well as providing those with a low rank with something to play for.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Ruth_NZ hit the top score in Gameweek 32 with 91. There are now 85 teams left after 43 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 68.

Meanwhile, Jaffalicious dropped by with news of the semi-final clashes in the FFS UEFA Champions League tournament that gets underway this weekend.

Finally, Balders dropped by with some updates from his two leagues. In his Grand Playoffs competition Hooky has taken a 1-0 lead against Mr Flibbles in the best of 7 World Series. While, in his Wimbledon Doubles tournament the semi finals start this week with Depay Time & Berkan facing Spectrum & Newton1982 and Blue Lion & Gloria Kanchelskis squaring up to Still Unsure & Mr Alex.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

    Posting again for more thoughts/opinions!

We need to talk about Clichy.

+ Fixtures: WBA, DGW, and gw35 fixture (STK).
    + Price: 5.3 isn't a lot for a City defender.
+ Team: Kompany and Hart are coming back to boost CS potential.
+ Form: In contention for City's March player of the month alongside Yaya and Fernando.

"But he is not nailed on" you will say. I have looked a little deeper into it and he might be a bit more nailed on than most people think 🙂

    - He has started in 10 out of the last 11 games, only missing the FA Cup game vs Chelsea where Pelle fielded youngsters.
    - His threat, Kolarov, has only got two sub appearances in the last 5 games - both times he has come on for an attacking player, leaving Clichy on the pitch. Seems to me like Pelle doesn't trust Kolarov's defensive abilities anymore, and that he has decided to use him as an attacking player of the bench. Him scoring vs Bournemouth when coming on for KdB could keep Pelle thinking in the same lines.

What do you think, is he worth a spot in our WC teams? Personally I'm finding him hard to ignore.

With the City midfield slighty shaken, an OOP Kolorov would be tasty.

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 33

    GW31 results: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/13041143
    GW32 results: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/13076915

    ****** WHAT IS IT? ******

For those of you who haven't been around or aren't aware, every evening prior to the start of the gameweek FFS releases their picks of players for the gameweek, "Scout Picks", as well as 3 differentials before the first games to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is your way to have a bit of fun and challenge those scout picks with a set of your own (read instructions below). This will always open the day before the gameweek starts around 8pm, and whilst you don't have to play weekly, the more you play the better chance you have of winning!

Gameweek winners will also be awarded a spot in the Community Roundup article.

    ****** INSTRUCTIONS ******

Everyone can have their own scout picks (there is no limit on team value) but with one simple rule,

YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM
(yes, two of your players at least will be on opposing teams).

You can only have ONE submission, and your FIRST submission will be what is accepted. You also must respond DIRECTLY to this post (not to a reply on this post). FFS Scout Picks are automatically enrolled. Teams must comply with FPL formation rules and be submitted in an easy to read format, e.g.

    GK
    DEF DEF DEF
    MID MID MID MID
    FOR FOR FOR

Deadline for this gameweek is Saturday 9th April, 11.45am.

    ****** SCORING ******

Regardless of number of applicants, scoring will be done by the following:

    1st place: 3 points
Top 4% of the population will rank "second" and score 2 points.
Top 10% of the population will rank "third" and score 1 point.

There is also a bonus point which everyone is eligible for. Essentially, if you score higher than FFS' Scout Picks AND Differential Picks (i.e. 14 players), you will be awarded with a bonus point regardless of whether you were in the top 3 scoring positions or not.

    ****** SEASON RANKINGS ******

    1st - Dusan Citizen (20pts)
    2nd - FFS Scout (17pts)
    3rd - IanP1970, Balders, Barry Woj (16pts)

Welcome to the game, and good luck.

More likely to start both matches in GW34:

    A) Sakho
    B) Mangala

    Cheers.

A but both as likely if Kompany isn't back. Hope he isn't as I have them both.

        Thanks, WG.

I've been set on Migs and Mangala, but I'm now wondering if Hart and Sakho (for essentially the same money) is the surer bet. It's a tough call.

Two good lads already replied on this already but I'd like to hear some other opinions too.

From FPL - Kompany (Calf injury - Expected back 23 April)

My question is: Is Demichelis really a threat for Mangala?

I don't expect him to be. I brought in Mangala on my WC last week. He starts in the French team, for crying out loud.

          Dependent on Kompany fitness.

No threat from Demichelis though, in my opinion.

    Barkley

    "Atrocious"
    "Classic casual dullard pick"
    "Fools to pick him"
"He plays for England, I know his name"
"Picked by people that aren't paying attention"

Brave words ahead of 2 x DGW's. He might be a risk too far for people WC'ing this week, but for those that did last week (or those that pre-planned), they'll have 2 x FT's ahead of DGW34 to have the option of swapping for Coutinho/Firmino.

I have him, but I'm under no illusion that he's a casual pick and has got a lot of jammy points this season

Hate the term "casual"... there can be such arrogance spouted on here at times.

Many WC'ed last week in anticipation of TC'ing Lukaku. If we expect him to score, then there's a good chance Barkley will be involved. He's a sensible short term pick then you can transfer out after DGW34 (or even before).

I think some are also missing that his England place is under threat. I wouldn't be surprised to see many of the fringe England players have a purple patch towards the end of the season.

Ok, my first team template post:

    Darlow, Robles
    Delaney, Simpson, Lovren, Sakho, Gabriel
Sanchez, De Bruyne, Firmino, Payet, Iwobi
    Lukaku, Aguero, Mitrovic

So I'm actually going to play triple captain next week. Sanchez is too great of a pick to ignore, I wouldn't know who to pick in 37. I'm still not settled on defense.

    BOLASIE, LENNON, Sanchez, Coutinho, Kdb
    LUKAKU, Aguero

    Darlow, Mitrovic, Bellerin, Gabriel
    Bank 1.5m

    - GW33: 6 DGWers
    - GW34: 15 DGWers. Few options with the FT:
    i) Save
    ii) Dann -> Smalling
    iii) Dann & Delaney -> Smalling & Rojo (-4)
    iv) Dann & Bolasie -> Rojo & Firmino (-4)

It's bold I'll give you that. I would pass comment on taking 6 dgwers this week but that feels wrong seeing as you won Q4 last year! If I were you I'd definitely take a hit next week.

Cheers Balders. Yeah, I'm having a pretty average season this year - languishing around 30k so am keen to take a few gambles. Very good chance I'll be taking a hit in 34. You WCing this week?

Oh wow, should be a good battle then! Will keep an eye out for your team over the next few weeks! Given how badly this season started a top 10k would probably be a decent result. With all the chips in play we may even get higher.

10Ks certainly the aim but its still a long way off yet. I fear I need Lukaku TC to come off this week to have a chance of staying ahead.

I would get 3 MUN players if it was not for their missing GW 35.. as it stands us WCers can only get 6 players(including keeper) and still have 11 for 35. so i'd say B)

So Antonio may be playing deeper but he has more touches in the box, shots on target, shots in the box than Lanzini. Anyone here goin Antonio over Lanz? Goes without saying that Payet is the best option so this is more of a supplement to him

i think clyne, even though i think he's a rubbish player. more nailed than moreno, who may lose out to flanagan. think sakho more nailed than lovren with skrtl lurking. but sakho zero attacking threat. clyne has a chance of an assist
