Romelu Lukaku disappoints yet again as Everton and Palace play out a goalless draw at Selhurst Park. The Eagles serves up a second successive shut-out in the first of their two double Gameweeks. Elsewhere, United’s Marcus Rashford strengthens his prospects of retaining a starting berth by netting the opener in a 2-1 cup win at West Ham.

Lukaku blanks again

Everton extended their winless streak to five matches with a goalless stalemate at Selhurst Park as Gameweek 33 came to a bitterly disappointing conclusion.

Runaway leader in last week’s Captain Poll, with in excess of 70% of the votes, Romelu Lukaku failed to justify our collective show of faith and posted his fourth successive blank. Despite having clashes against Southampton and Liverpool up next, his 44% ownership won’t have too much optimism ahead of another double Gameweek for the Merseysiders.

Joel Robles proved to be the chief beneficiary of Everton’s first clean sheet in seven outings, picking up two save points and three bonus for an 11-point haul. Pitched at 4.3, the Spanish shot-stopper furnishes us with a budget path into a defence that lacks the consistency to warrant serious investment.

Post-match, Roberto Martinez conceded he has major worries over three of yesterday’s starters, with midfield duo Aaron Lennon and Ross Barkley both forced off in the second-half:

“Ross and Aaron have been accumulating a lot of minutes. I think Ross had a knock at the end and he couldn’t move freely. Lennon we’ll have to assess, I’m a bit worried about his hamstring. Baines had to stay on but in the last five minutes, he couldn’t move freely, so those three are going to be a serious concern for Saturday.”

Having received his marching orders for a second bookable offence, James McCarthy will be sidelined for the Merseysiders’ home encounter against Southampton this weekend.

Another clean sheet for Palace

Palace lacked the clinical touch to capitalise on their one-man advantage and territorial dominance in the second period.

To the jubilation of managers that targeted the Eagles’ rearguard for their double Gameweek 33, Alan Pardew’s troops notched their second shut-out on the bounce. The recent turn of events is all the more surprising bearing in mind that Palace had failed to keep a shut-out in 12 league outings prior to this week. Nonetheless, Alan Pardew’s side will do well to sustain their diligence during their consecutive road trips (ars & mun) next Gameweek.

Yannick Bolasie came up short for his 50,000 new owners, stretching out his scoreless run to 10 matches. With Manchester United and Arsenal – who possess the best and second-best home defensive records, respectively – next on the Eagles’ agenda, an exodus could be on the cards for the DR Congo international.

Dwight Gayle was forced off at the break through injury and is a doubt for the trip to Arsenal, with Connor Wickham favourite to start at the Emirates this weekend.

Rashford helps United through

Manchester United set up a meeting with Everton in the FA Cup semi-finals after beating West Ham United at the Boleyn Ground.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a sumptuous strike, delighting 30,000 Fantasy managers that snapped him up ahead of the Red Devils’ double Gameweek 34 (AVL & CRY). Hauled off at the break against Spurs last weekend, there were doubts over the youngster’s pitch time after the fit-again Wayne Rooney was named amongst the subs last night but Rashford’s display against the Hammers suggests he may well remain in pole position for the lone striker role over the double.

Anthony Martial also served a reminder of his points potential by providing assists for both the visitors’ goals. The France international remains the most secure route into the Red Devils’ attack and has now recorded attacking returns (three goals and one assist) in four of his previous six starts, which bodes well for his chances of punishing Aston Villa’s obliging defence.

In defence, Timothy Fosu-Mensah was passed fit following his injury scare at White Hart Lane, setting him up for further starts in the coming weeks. Priced at a mere 3.9 in FPL, the Dutch defender’s rise to prominence is an irksome development for Matteo Darmian’s 17,000 new owners, given that the Italian right-back looks highly unlikely to reclaim a regular starting berth.

Tomkins goal not enough for Hammers

Despite mounting a late comeback, West Ham were unable to emerge victorious in their final cup fixture at the Boleyn Ground.

James Tomkins set up a grandstand finish with a goal 11 minutes from time, latching onto an Andy Carroll header. The latter lays claim to four goals and one assist in four outings across all competitions, illustrating his potential to flourish as a differential source of Hammers attacking coverage for their double Gameweek 34 (lei & WAT).

Winston Reid was omitted from the squad and James Collins was only deemed fit enough for a spot on the bench, so James Tomkins partnered Angelo Ogbonna in central defence and Michail Antonio remained at right-back as Slaven Bilic rolled out a 4-2-3-1. Antonio’s 4% ownership will hope that the return of Collins and Tomkins triggers the winger’s reinstatement in the attacking quartet.

        Was he really that good against West Ham? No one is essential. Few weeks ago people said Ozil was ESSENTIAL for this DGW yet 90% went without and he could easily outscore Alexis.

        😆 Ozil/Iwobi to soak up the damage.
        In my position it's tough though, I can't get him for free. The only way I can get him is doing Ozil -> Sanchez (-4) which could blow up in my face or I can ruin most of my team's balance and bring him alongside Mesut

        If I bring him alongside Mesut, I have to do something like:
        Mahrez -> Lanzini
        Gabriel -> Fosu/Simpson
        Lukaku -> Martial
        Bolasie -> Sanchez [-8]

        and be 1 short for GW35 AND GW37.
        It just doesn't seem logical

          Here's what I done; 2FTs;

          Mahrez > Alexis

          Dier > Fosu-Mensah
          Daniels > Ward
          VVD > Targett (already had enough DGWers so he's just a filler)

          .
          This took -8. If your plan is similar or not even as bad, then i'd say go for it.

          Good Luck

    Afternoon all 🙂 another fairly nice day in london!

    Anyone thinking of a punt on Andros? Very tempted now Lennon is out - depending on Liverpool tonight, thinking of doing Milner/Nasri (the latter being another risk!) and Andros in for crocked little Aaron and Bolasie for dgw.

    Good moves?

        Hey Sess, thanks for replying mate.

        Yeah the big issue is I'd have Andros playing in 35. But he has been delivering occasionally. Big punt.

        Good news is with that transfer I can afford this team in 35:

        Darlow (ugh)
        Bellerin Morgan Sakho
        Andros Sanchez Milner/Nasri Alli Coutinho
        Kane Kun

        Robles / Gabriel (has a game) Smalling Lukaku

        Hmm, do like that.

        Hey Prophet!
        Any prophetic insight into whether Bolasie will just troll us all? 😉

        Erm yeah I'm just thinking Andros also has a game in 35, so that kind of means I'm taking the gw35 hit in gw34 which is fine as there's hopefully many many points on offer...

          Exactly my thinking... Even if Bolasie scores a hat trick, i wouldnt care at all. Just a waste of space, and i knew this would happen, but did it anyways.

          Taking a hit after gw 34 seems better since i HOPE the score will be over 100 points 😀

          Man C and Arsenal play GW35, but maybe rotation.

      A is the risk, B more nailed on.

      C would be Payet and Iwobi, which is the one I'd go for.

    It seems like I may have to cover on only Ali and not Kane, is anyone else doing this?

    Think Lukaku might troll

      Either way is fine if you can field about 10-11 players in gw35

    For GW34 apart from taking out Barkley and Lennon. Are there any other changes that I should make to this team

    Adrian Schmeichel

    Sakho Clyne Fuchs Walker Janmaat

    Sanchez Barkley* Ozil Lennon* Iwobi

    Lukaku Aguero Pelle

    BB and TC still to play 0 in bank 1 FT

    Any ideas would be welcomed

    Fosu Mensah reminds me of Alaba

    Can play rb lb cm. Great talent

      I can play right back, left back or centre mid, I don't remind people of Alaba on the pitch though!

    Narrowed Mangala options down to this..

    a) Moreno
    b) Clyne
    c) Fosu-Mensah
    d) stick

    What do we reckon?

        a) has the advantage of a game in gw35

        Might have to go for this.

    I need really some advice for the upcoming DGW.

    De Gea
    Fuchs Bellerin Nyom
    Sanchez Mahrez Payet Couthino Iwobi
    Lukaku Aguero

    Bench : Rudd , Vardy , Targett Williams
    ITB: 1,5. I really dont know what to do. Rudd is obv not playing. What about Nyom? Likely to start ?
    Thinking about Rashford in for Vardy, and maybe Moreno / Mensah in ? Save BB?
    Hope someone could help me out.
    Kindly regards, frustrated «manager» from Norway.

      id do Nyom --> Cresswell

      plus sanchez(TC) is the best option since your bench is weak

        So you dont think Rashford -> Vardy will be profitably ?

    Thoughts on GW34 team.

    Migs

    Smalling Moreno Bellerin

    Lanzini Coutinho Sanchez(c) Payet(v)

    Martial Aguero Lukaku

    Bench: Robles Mahrez Simpson Gabriel

    Will be playing triple captaining chip on Sanchez.

    My current thoughts: Should i sacrifice one DGW player (Lanzini) and start Mahrez?

    Thanks

      leicester could do well against leggy westham after cup clash last night

      very risky to bench mahrez simpson. bench boost ?

        No bench boost, only triple captain chip, which im using on Alexis.

        But i tend to agree with you, starting Mahrez over Lanzini looks like a good bet. West Ham did look leggy

    My squad is:

    miggy, roubles
    smalling, bellerin, simpson, lovren, jagielka
    mahrez, coutinho, sanchez, iwobi, bolasie
    aguero, martial, lukaku

    [all DGW players except for the two Leicester guys, 9 players who have GW 35 fixtures]

    No FTs. Looking to play BB. ITB 0.7.

    A few issues here, most obviously jagielka crocked & lovren/coutinho dropped last week.

    A couple of questions:

    (a) Jagielka out is a no-brainer. But who to replace him with? Ideally a player who has a DGW in 34 & SGW in 35. I was thinking maybe a Newcastle defender... are there any worth having?

    (b) Would there be any merit in taking hits to transfer out one or both of coutinho & lovren??

    Having trouble finding a replacement for Gabriel. Who should I get?

    Budget is 5.9, and it cant be players in one of these teams:
    NOR, WHU, MUN, WAT, EVE, CRY, LIV, ARS

    My current back 7:
    Mignolet Robles
    Bellerin Smalling Sakho Simpson Gabriel

    Current team is this:-

    Robles Migs
    Kos Bellerin Sakho Fuchs Dann
    Sanchez Lennon Bolasie Mahrez Payet
    Aguero Kane Lukaku

    Do you prefer:-

    Boring/Safe: Lennon->Milner
    Nervous/Risky: Lennon Bolasie -> Countinho Lindgard (-4)
    It's a DGW!!: Lennon Bolasie Dann -> KDB Lindgard Fosu (-8)

    Did bolasie to lanzini last night. Have 1ft left for this week. Leaves me 2 options:

    1. Dann to fosu mensah, which allows me to get pelle + Kane for lukaku + rashford next week for a hit.

    2. Dann to smalling, which means I get pelle and Vardy next week for a hit.

    Thanks
