Just remembered I had Coutinho in my team for a few weeks earlier in the season, just as he got injured ..... Ended up tranfering him back out without him getting me a single point. Deja vu .... Unless he starts Tues.

What is your biggest frustration of this DGW?

For me, without a doubt, that Bolasie goal yesterday. 12 points lost there so near to the end. Still can't get over it

Doubling up on Cou + Firm. Wanted Firm only but he was recovering from injury at the time so went with both. So much money tied up in both and serious doubts about what team LFC will be fielding this weekend

Coutinho has trolled me all season. Got him after the City game in December and then he was injured and blanked for 5-6 games. Got him again on WC and he hasn't even featured.

      Where to start!

Martial (C), Lukaku, Lanzini, Milner, Coutinho and Mignolet all of the bench after BBing all while my rivals have Gomes and Cresswell on theirs and Sanchez as triple captain.
The biggest frustration I think has to be the lack of excitement in the games due to lack of involvement.
I'm reading a lot of great scores and feel like I've tripped over a black cat this weekend. Anyone else with similar tales of woe?

Went from 14k to 8k last night thanks to Alexis. Those two Ars CSs would have been even sweeter but wasn't meant to be.

What's Alexis' ownership in the current top 10k? Feel he is a massive differential, even more so as captain. Here's hoping for a big haul Thursday night.

    Morning everyone.

Bolasie sale could have gone better if only he blanked and Cech saved that bad shot. Happens. 12 points lost, but not the first time.

In any case, thought about this. Wherever i am in OR or ML i just do not feel its good enough. No matter the score, no matter the rank I always want more. Greedy, yea i know. Even if i was OR 1 i think i wouldnt be happy since i would want a bigger lead. Every green arrow i got was "meh" due to the fact that i always want more. Rank rise never big enough. This has to come close to biggest form of addiction thats gone wrong. Intervention needed it seems.

How about you? Do you feel something the same? Or just look at this as a game? Fun?

No. I would feel significantly better if, say, this DGW revived my chance to win my ML, or if I was in top10k or even top20k, or even nearby, let alone if I was still competing for the top spots inside the top100. I'm feeling bad about my FPL season not because I could do better but because everything I have done for like 20 GW's now has gone absolutely wrong and I really really am out of competition now.

Maybe it's impossible to get absolutely satisfied (it is not: I'll be satisfied FPL wise if I finish OR1), there are degrees of satisfaction, and I would be to some very acceptable degree satisfied if I just was in the competition for some at least close to top spots to the very end, but this season is just the case of me being absolutely dead, beaten, out of all competition. There's nothing to play for anymore, except for that little thing of finishing a little bit higher to reduce the damage to my HoF status.

I guess that makes complete sense. This is actually my first full season that i have been playing. Last season i started in gw 15 or so due to my mate kept pressuring me into playing. I tried not getting into FPL for 2-3 years prior to that. Finally crumbled and glad i did.

I am very happy with where i am at the moment, but somehow my mentality is that its not enough. I should be at least little higher. My ML's are not that competitive generally (with the people i know) and it kinda just leaves OR to play for at the moment. I will be joining some money leagues next season i hope here at FFS and try to focus on that.

I do hope your season improves until the end and that you will wreck it next season.

You know, I'm really not that addicted. I spend more time chatting here than tweaking my team. In fact, most of the season I don't even remember who I have in my team. I look at it once or twice a week, right after the GW matches and right before them - if I remember, because often I forget to check my team and make the transfers, and I waste a few FT's for that. Maybe this season is just what I deserve with that lax attitude then.

Anyway, I really can assure you that when I fought for penetrating the top10 to the final rounds (before crashing completely on last two GW's) last season I was seriously excited and happy about it. Of course, I wanted to win, not to come close to win, but there's just a huge difference between making a good fight until the end despite finally losing, and getting knocked out in the first round. In fact, I think I spent much more time on this last season, so maybe that's why I did so much better too.

That might be the reason you have the lax attitude now to be fair. I might have been the same if i was giving it a best shot at winning last season and not doing it. I would have took a step back and enjoyed and revitalized to be fair.
That is a great accomplishment tho!

Well, I ended some 50-100 points (can't remember how many exactly, but in that range) from the OR1 so wasn't so close in the end. I took a some risks that materialised on the last GW's.

Maybe my laxness with FPL now has to do with me spending too much time on this game last season. I took it really seriously and my workloads are just growing so I just don't have time to take it that seriously again. But there's something else, it started already in summer, I just didn't find myself so interested in planning and making my team. I had also played the fantasy world cup the summer before, so maybe I just had had too much of fantasy football.

Still, I do play this game with some seriousness, and this season has gone incredibly badly. Every choice I make, no matter how well reasoned, seems to backfire.

That's good self-analysis there. Yeah, sounds like addiction. (Luckily, to something that won't kill you or cost you your house.)

Last year I realised I was spending way too much time on it, it was eating into my real life, so I had to walk away (which is why my rank last year is so lousy: I didn't look at my team for the last months of the season).

This year I'm deliberately using it as Zen practice: I'm trying to accept everything, not get caught up in the drama of my emotions (or of the emotions that can rage across this site). Success and failure are just ideas in my head. Paradoxically, that has led to my highest ever rank. Go figure.

If it helps: none of this really matters. It's just a game. And we all die in the end.

Haha, that is absolutely true. I do kind of look at it as a Zen practice due to a lot of things happening from Mon - Fri that i have to deal with. Sometimes it just converts to rage when someone concedes in 82nd minute to a bad shot. 😀

It is just a game, but generally i am very competitive and always look for more or a bigger lead. Just how i am.

It does eat a lot of my time, but to be fair this is better than playing some other game that will make me rage. Since i have been playing video games for as long as i can remember. Much more fun like this.

Sounds a lot like my last situation, except for the zen part. Using fpl as a way of zen praktiken sounds very useful and a good advice, I think I'll try that for the remainder of the season. Have found myself very frustrated after some games lately...

Yeah, I feel the frustration when something goes against me in a game, and a good plan gets blown up by events. You have to feel it, the frustration kicks in, it's there! But then I try to step back from it, acknowledge it – wow, that's a big wave of frustration – but not identify with it. Realise I'm not my emotions, and that my emotions, though real – "It's the end of the world! I hate everything! Life is terrible!" – aren't necessarily true.

          Yeah, it's great Zen practice!

And Prophet, for every player ahead of you, there are 2000 behind you. That's pretty incredible, isn't it? You're doing great. Give yourself credit, and enjoy that achievement.

Aside from DGW'rs delivering, that the single GW'rs like Mahrez are absolutely smashing it really makes me really feel I got the best out of my BB. Like, I need all fingers of one hand to count the points I get from my bench. You can't imagine how happy I am!

That is, of course, in condition that all my DGW'rs actually get at least one match this GW. As it stands, there's a good chance that I will need no fingers to count points from my bench.

Well not sure you would want too.

            My actual bench would be

            Robles / Coleman Simpson Coutinho.

At the moment OR wise i am doing really well (dont want to write the number since you dare not look 🙂 )

Don't you have any other Leicesterians left? I mean my virtual bench would be the players who do not have DGW, I would have them there if I didn't play BB. Of course actually I could have ended with a bench of DGW'rs who did not play.

Nah, that is it. That would be my bench for this gw. So, a whooping 5 points scored with 2 more shows POSSIBLY from Cout and Robles. So, a grand total of possible 8-9 points.

At least you've got a game left on your bench. I've got the same GK and same points from field but all counted already, unless some of my players don't play at all in which case my bench points actually drop. I couldn't really have imagined my BB going this badly. Amongst my lowest bench points all season.

Yea, same with me. I have Coutinho possibly playing. If he brings points or just plays i would count it as a success. Just yea. 5 points with Cout / Robles to go is really really not a great use of the chip to be fair.

Well, mine is 5 points with Robles to go, at the very best. My use of the chips has been disastrous. I think my AOA cost me a few points relative to not using it, and with both my wildcards I have totally screwed up what used to be a decent team.

    I may go Aguero-less for GW37, possibly GW38

In 37 he has (ARS) which yes he could get a haul, but the prospect of Lukaku (lei, sun) are quite good if Everton go out of the cup and Spurs drop a point or two. I'll be on BB so I think the points I plan on making up elsewhere can be risked for "all or nothing" in my ML for the grand prize of €1200.

Then I can leave cash to bring him back in for GW38 (SWA), or hold onto Lukaku (BOU) if needed.

    Thoughts? Madness?

britos is the most nailed, but the centrebacks keep getting injured and the fullbacks are rotated

            Cheers, worth getting?
It'll prob be for Sahko as I own Migs too or would you switch out Migs now that I think of it ?

gomes, the defenders are good players that's why they are rotated. Ake and holebas are good leftbacks, prodl/cathcart/britos are all good and nyom is almost out of favour. There will be rotation because they are safe

    Morning lads.

I'm ditching Bolasie for a Sunderland middy this week - who should I go for?

I thought it'd be Khazri but he doesn't seem to be playing much...

I'm looking to bring one in too but they really have no good midfield options, maybe MVilla?

Looks like he plays the most - but almost always only gets 2 (or 3) points...

Which Southampton player should we take a punt on for gw35?

    Pelle? Long? Tadic? Mane?

    Hey guys 2 questions:

    1. Pelle is a risky one week punt for Villa right? Only played 60+ mins on Sat and tough games thereafter

    2. Yes Liverpool rotation has killed many of us but is it worth ditching Coutinho or Sakho or are they likely to play 2 of 3 in GW35/36?

Now that their relegation is sealed, i actually think that Villa might become a tougher opponent. About Liverpool: i have NO clue, better ask a Pool fan 😉

You could be right about Villa. Also, Lescott might feel he needs to put a shift in to make up for those remarks

Lukaku + Delaney >> Kane + Kirchhoff (-4) are my transfers this week to field valid XI .. to get PVA I need to wait a week more and field X in GW35

Think I'm getting him this week for Delaney.

Although I do think I'll be taking a hit somewhere for a Spurs player - Alli or Kane

I'm thinking a -4 for Pva/Defoe, OR Cout > Alli as I don't think he will play this weekend.
A lot Depends on Mitrovic/Lukaku performances this week for me Andy.

so folks, after yesterday's mayhem what do you think will be the next (unexpected) shocker for the remaining games this week? For me it would be a Lukaku hatty after i transferred him out 😉
Kun hammy would be another one (I hope not!)

A smalling hatty for my triple captain... Ok just one goal and a clean sheet and i will be extatic

I think I'm largely going to ignore the next DGW and build a strong squad again that led me to the top 3k this year.

I know, but I was scoring more points when I went with solid selections, I have ruined my team over the last week or so. Gone from 3k to 9k 🙁

That's not the best way to think about it, everyone below you will be trying to get past you. they'll be taking punts on costa etc. The template works over the long period but any gameweek can be different

Bench boost is outscoring TC (for me personally) by 2 points currently. Be interesting to see how it works out.

Need to take 37 into account too

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Who knew Chelsea would bend over for Aguero?

Although just be thankful the percentage of Triplers is very small this DGW.

Most people's real issues is their WC selection or the poor nature of it.
