After rolling out our preferred picks in defence for the remaining four rounds of fixtures, we focus our thoughts on the centre of the park. Alexis Sanchez keeps his place at the summit thanks to both form and a security of starts, whilst Liverpool and City’s European commitments and potential rotation over the run-in also plays a major part in our thinking.

With four goals and two assists in his last five appearances, Alexis Sanchez remains at the top of our refresh. Arsenal’s lack of cup commitments over the run-in ensures that the Chilean is a nailed-on starter for the final four Gameweeks in a run that hands them showdowns with three (sun, NOR, mci, AVL) of the bottom four.

Whilst Mesut Ozil offers a similar security of starts, there’s no doubts that the German has struggled for form and has produced one goal in six ahead of tonight’s showdown with West Brom. Elsewhere at the Emirates, Alex Iwobi offers a viable budget route into Arsene Wenger’s attack. The 4.6-priced youngster has started each of the last four now and racked up two goals and a couple of assists over that period – he does remain a slight rotation risk, though, which may deter many from investing at a time where opting for nailed-on starters is key over the run-in.

Certainly, there’s no question marks over Dele Alli’s security of pitch time. The Spurs midfielder severely punished those who sold him ahead of double Gameweek 34 by bagging a brace away to Stoke on Monday evening and has racked up three goals and a trio of assists in his last five matches. Still priced at a very generous 6.1, Alli has the form to keep on delivering over the final four (WBA, che, SOU, new) as Mauricio Pochettino’s men chase Leicester down at the summit.

Liverpool pair Philippe Coutinho (8.3) and Roberto Firmino (8.1) both bagged a goal apiece over the double Gameweek to maintain their fine recent form. Although the Reds now have a superb run of fixtures remaining (NEW, swa, WAT & CHE, wba), the upcoming Europa League semi-final dates against Villarreal will surely play a major part in Jurgen Klopp’s domestic team sheets. The first leg takes place five days after this weekend’s home match with Newcastle and three days before the trip to Swansea, whilst the second leg occurs four days after their Liberty clash and three days before the home match against Watford, which is the first of their double Gameweek 37 fixtures.

Coutinho has scored in each of his last three starts but bearing in mind he has been rested for two of the last three league matches, there still has to be concerns over his pitch time. Firmino, who has bagged an impressive eight goals and four assists in his last 11, has started each of the last three since recovering from injury and if Divock Origi is ruled out with an ankle injury sustained against Everton last night, there’s a chance he could be utilised as a false nine if Klopp looks to manage Daniel Sturridge’s minutes. Whilst the Liverpool midfielders have plenty of upside, then, the risk of rest and rotation still hangs heavy over Anfield.

City’s Kevin de Bruyne (10.4) is also lower down in our refresh for similar reasons. The Belgian was benched in Gameweek 33 ahead of the Champions League quarter-final against PSG and with the likes of Raheem Sterling, and possibly Samir Nasri, back in contention, there’s a fear that his minutes will be managed as Manuel Pellegrini targets Europe in his final few fixtures at the helm. De Bruyne’s single assist in the last three also makes his 10.4 price tag a little prohibitive, with many preferring Sergio Aguero as their only source of City attacking coverage for the final four (STO, sou, ARS, swa) Gameweeks.

With a pair of home matches against Swansea and United in double Gameweek 37, the 8.5-priced Dimitri Payet cannot be overlooked. West Ham face a blank this week and have trips to West Brom and Stoke on either side of the double, which sees the Hammers play at Upton Park for the final time before moving grounds. Although Slaven Bilic’s side boast a significant threat in the final third, scoring at least twice in each of their last six, the attacking returns have dried up for Payet of late. Indeed, he’s played a part in just three of their last 12 goals and served up no more than an assist for double Gameweek 34 – food for thought for those considering handing him the armband for the penultimate round of matches.

Two goals and a pair of assists in his last four appearances highlights Andros Townsend’s recent improvement. The 5.7-priced wide man has served up 29 points over that period and those who snapped him up for double Gameweek 34 may well look to hold for the remainder of the campaign. The Magpies’ appeal is boosted by a Gameweek 35 fixture (albeit a trip to Liverpool) and ensuing showdowns with Palace and Villa offer further reason for optimism.

Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also be one to consider. Although Guus Hiddink has chopped and changed his team sheet in recent matches, the youngster has started each of the last three in a central support role and bagged a goal against Villa in Gameweek 32. With five fixtures in the final four (bou, TOT, sun & liv, LEI), he could prove to be a decent budget enabler at a price of just 4.6.

I bet it was surprisingly upbeat on here during/after lastnight games. A lot of people had Pool DF(and Sakho specifically), Coutinho, Utd DF & Payet.

From the worst possible start to the GW, it really has turned out to be ok in the end. And a lot of us who played WC are looking in decent shape for GW35/37 as well.

Has any GW33 WCer dared to say that it's been a success yet? I am close to saying it, but the words can't quite fall from my keyboard yet

Have to put that down as a success.

Yeah I'm pretty over the moon with 129 points and only 4k off the top 10k with 3 Arsenal & Sanchez(c) to go. Sounds good.... but I'm still gutted about Aldy, Kane & Alli sales. It was obvious they'd perform DGW or not

Not a success, but certainly not as bad as it first looked. Sanchez haul tonight could swing it favourably 🙂

I was 2.5k before WC GW33, went down to 5.5k and now back to 2.7k. So a couple hundred places up today and I guess it was a success in the end (apart from the -8 hit this week to get SGW players back...).

I'm up from 130k to 70k with 3+c tonight. Worried about rotation with Liv and Man City next week, but yeah a success i think.

Only thing that makes it not is the amount of people in Mini Leagues who Triple Captained Aguero. That is just something i couldn't foresee.

      I'm saying success!

I'm well up on my rank post-WC, and with Sanchez(C), Bellerin and Gabriel, I can't see me taking a backwards step tonight.

After taking a hit in my ML lead in GW33, it's now slightly extended, and tonight's games should give me a further bump.

I'm on 139 with three players left. It should have been over 150 but Bolasie scoring and Deeney missing his penalty have dented it.

No complaints after Milner assisted Sakho's goal, though.

Not sure if it's worth KDB out. Even if he comes plays a sub role / subbed he can score /assist. Is Mane going to get more than 5 points (ie -4 vs min 1 point)

Who to captain from this lot in GW 35?

    A) Aguero: Playing leaky Stoke and showed what he is capable of this GW, but worried about game time.
    B) Pelle: playing villa away and in good form
    C) Kane: excellent form and playing against WBA at home, but a little bit boring haha
D: other options as Ozil, Mahrez, Tadic, Alli

    Need to decide today

    Thanks a lot.

Both of them are going for the golden boot, so it will be interesting.

    I just had this thought...

Bournemouth are safe and on the beach so Klopp could field a complete reserve team without much guilt.

Would he do the same v Newcastle? If he did and lost or even drew he would face outrage from the media, Sunderland and Norwich concerning the integrity of the game and his impact on the relegation battle. The club would also be fined.

I think he may field at least a half decent team for that reason but of course it is pure speculation.

there are 5 days before the EL game, and most of his players had a complete rest the match before last night. I don't see how he can rest so many players again, if anything in doing so players might start to lose match sharpness

He will almost certainly be giving some the night off to keep them fresh. It's not really the number of days before the previous/next game that is the main factor, it's the wear and tear caused by the previous 8 months.

Well, they have shown themselves to be poor judges, in the past.

        Haidara over Dummett, for instance.

Georgio is being played out of position, doing a job for which he is ill-suited. He should be link-man.

I agree with you about being played out of position, but in all fairness to Benitez, Sissoko has played well in the last two games (not that I rate him much).

Pretty sure most Newcastle fans think Haidara is one of their worst players? LB is such a problem position for them.

He and Everton are woefully out of form, but after the FA Cup Martinez will be all guns a blazing to get them to save his job. I think he might bounce back to form and the fixtures and lack of rotation make him a hard sell on reflection.

Guys, I need some input here. Current team after Bolasie -> Alli:

    Mignolet (Robles)
    Bellerin Sakho PvA Gabriel (Smalling)
    Sanchez Mahrez Coutinho Alli (Payet)
    Aguero Mitrovic (Lukaku)

Is it madness to go without Kane?

Is it worth a -8 to do Lukaku -> Kane and Mitrovic -> Defoe or Coutinho -> someone?

    Any input appreciated.

I'm probably being bias here but I'd rather see Wilshere go than Rooney. Only if he shows some form, I just think he could work well alongside Dier in front of the defence. Rooney means you have to leave out a genuinely in form and good striker to accommodate the waste of space that he is.

If Origi has ligament damage and Tekkers is still looking like the appaling footballer he's become. Kane or Kun > Studge in GW37 and activate TC is looking like by far the best option to me.

Not an 'easy' route to Studge. I can only do it if I sell Kane or Kun which is risky for sure, but at least it's GW37 by then and the end is in sight.
