Next up this Friday afternoon, it’s time for our regular Sky Sports Focus article. As always, we bring you the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, the transfer trends and our Watchlist before taking a look at the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 37 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

Gameweek 37 Bonus Points

Four goalkeepers picked up bonus last week. Joel Robles managed to earn bonus in both his fixtures – the Toffees stopper made 14 saves, though still conceded on five occasions. Leading the way for keepers are Petr Cech, Jack Butland and Heurelho Gomes with 16 bonus points each.

In defence 15 players grabbed bonus; ten for tackles and seven for completed passes. Centre-backs Gabriel and Federico Fernandez both managed to pick up both despite playing just one game. Simon Francis is the top scoring defender in terms of bonus with 26 points – the equivalent of five clean sheets.

In midfield there were 17 beneficiaries in total: eight for tackling and 12 for passes. Four players managed to pick up four bonus points over the double but the star of the show was Lucas with six – the Brazilian now has 40 for the season and is second to only Cesc Fabregas with 60.

Wayne Rooney managed to pick up passing bonus to fly the flag for forwards and is one of the few front men to flirt with bonus on a semi-regular basis over the last few seasons.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership that I think could be good options in the coming weeks to help you climb the rankings. These will be looked at in three specific price brackets to cater for our available budget. These names evolve with fixtures and form and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in hopefully the right direction.

Notes
I opted to change my plans this week as Romelu Lukaku’s no-show followed by Liverpool’s Sunday team sheet forced me to abandon the Philippe Coutinho captain strategy and pushed me into the welcoming arms of Alexis Sanchez, who racked up 24 points over the double. I have owned the Chilean for long periods of the season but unfortunately at the wrong times until now – hopefully we have made up our differences and the love affair can rekindle.

Looking forward I’m in a fairly good position for Gameweek 38 as I have nine players with a fixture, which I expect is slightly more than most. With my remaining three transfers I’ll likely target a Liverpool and a Chelsea player for the double Gameweek in 40 but I’m considering using the third on switching the underperforming Craig Dawson to Kyle Walker. Spurs look likely to keep a few more clean sheets before the season is out and a double up could pay dividends.

Captain Plan
I’m locked into Sergio Aguero as captain for Saturday’s game at home to Stoke. Although his minutes may be managed ahead of the Champions League clash with Real, we all know how deadly he can be in a short period of time, so I’ll be hoping he can continue his great recent form.

For Sunday it will be a switch to Sanchez, who travels to the Stadium of Light to challenge Sunderland. This works out well as Arsenal play on match day one in Gameweek 39 at home to Norwich.

It’s definitely worth noting that Tottenham host West Brom on Monday night football and so a switch to Harry Kane could again reap big rewards – however, with Spurs not playing until match day three in Gameweek 39, it will likely take transfers to navigate this situation.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and are sitting in first place in the rankings at present. Sanchez captain last night got my gap to ML leader from 65 points to 33. Could have been even further reduced if Gabriel had played.

Looking at this for GW35 - thoughts?

    Hart (Robles)
Koscielny - Simpson - Lovren (Gabriel - Smalling)
Alli - Mahrez - Coutinho - Sanchez (Lanzini)
    Aguero - Kane - Mitrovic

Surely the place is Mertesacker s now?

Gabriel to rose for a hit?

I’m chasing 70 points leader and considering -12 hits to make a bet.

    “No GK”
    Bellerin - Sakho - Lovren - Fuchs
    Sanchez - Coutinho - KDB - “Iwobi”
    Kane - Kun

    DDG / Robles , Delaney , Payet , Martial

    A: Robles + Coutinho + Martial -> Darlow + Alli + Sturridge
    B: DDG + Coutinho + Martial -> Lloris + Alli + Sturridge

B should have more chance for CS this, but A will allow DDG on DGW37.

I think they've stolen it. Especially the guy who is 16th.

There is one other in the top 1k, so to have 3 between 16th and 57th is just absurd. I was around the same rank as that guy after GW32. So he clearly saw mine.

        What a loser!

Ah well its reinvigorated me for this season. I'd love to beat him, LOVE IT.

If they stole it, take it as a compliment. If they didn't, you're equally original and more or less equally ranked.

I've not seen anyone with my team name, but that's probably because it's both in Norwegian and pretty obscure. So that's one way of being sure that I am original; maybe I'm not the one with the best team name, but at least I know I didn't get it from anywhere else.

    Bellerin Simpson Gabriel* Lovren* Ward**
    Alexis KDB* Coutinho* Payet** Lanzini**
    Kun* Lukaku** Martial**

8 with a game. 3 doubts (assuming Kun and KDB play): Coutinho, Gabriel, Lovren. So could be looking at fielding 5 outfield players. I'm happy to make 3/4 changes. What would you suggest?

    1. Lizard Lips
      • 13 Years
      9 years, 11 months ago

Every move I look at leads me to the regrettable conclusion of selling KDB for a hit. Ward, KDB, Martial>Rose, Alli, Kane. Gives me 10 outfield players but 3 rotation doubts still so ideally would want a further transfer on top as can't see all 3 playing.

    Forster
    VvD, Bellerin, Huth, Toby
    Mahrez, KdB, Alexis, Milner
    Kane, Mitrovic

Should be fine without a single benchplayer, No?

Nobody posted the other quote from Klopp!

"We know about the physical strength of Newcastle. We need a team who are really fit for this game"

    Confusing or what!

It's not as if playing 2 games in 2 weeks would make Coutinho 'unfit'

Agreed. It's just a little annoying. Now can't justify selling, so if he doesn't start will be fuming

My take is he won't base it on the EL, but will probably take into account who is fit after their Everton match.

Plus Klopp is a squad type manager, he will always have one or two players he'll rotate in and out of the team if he has the players.

I can afford Aguero and Payet to Sturridge and Hazard for -8 πŸ˜€

So are you buying what Klopp is saying re not keeping an eye on Villarreal at the moment? And if so, would you then keep Coutinho and transfer Payet out for Alli?

Other mids are Sanchez Coutinho KDB Lanzini (can't ship him without -8)

Not really, I didn't hink he'd change wholesale, but I still think there will be rotation and at the very least limited game time for some.

Would you then keep Coutinho and ship Payet to Alli instead?

Nope, not if you want Payet for 37

So basically Firmino and Coutinho don't need to play as Sturridge doesn't need assists? 😎

"Daniel is able to create his own moments. He doesn't always need an assist. We need to think about who will start."
