We visit the Weekly Shop a little later than usual this time around after Gameweek 34 finally concluded last night. As usual, we analyse the player lists of our partner games to highlight the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As always, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better Buys

Hugo Lloris (FantasyBet 5m) has picked up four clean sheets in five matches as Spurs ramp up their bid for the title. The Frenchman is looking for a 14th shut-out of the campaign at home to a West Brom side that have failed to score in three of their last six away trips. Danny Rose (FantasyBet 5m) seems to have nailed down the left-back spot after starting the last six league matches – a goal and seven assists this season shows his influence in the final third.

Southampton have now gone eight matches without a clean sheet, their worst defensive run of the season. Nonetheless, a visit to a relegated Aston Villa who have scored only once in six outings means we’re backing the Saints defence to end that poor run. With three goals to his name already, Virgil Van Dijk (FantasyBet 5.5m, DraftKings $3,300) is our pick from Ronald Koeman’s backline.

Considering that Aston Villa have conceded the most goals of any side this season, Southampton’s attacking assets have to be considered for our squads. Sadio Mane (FantasyBet 7.5m, DraftKings $5,800) grabbed his third goal in four with the equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Everton, while frontman Graziano Pelle (FantasyBet 8m, DraftKings $6,100) has served up four goals and three assists in five outings.

Alexis Sanchez (FantasyBet 11m) maintained his best run of the season against West Brom last night – the Chilean’s brace against the Baggies means he’s produced points in seven successive matches ahead of a trip to Sunderland. Likewise, Sergio Aguero’s (FantasyBet 13m, DraftKings $8,700) strike at Newcastle was a sixth goal in four and the Argentine appears indispensable for a home tie against a Stoke side that have recently leaked four goals to both Spurs and Liverpool.

Poundstretchers

Leicester City’s may have conceded twice to West Ham but five consecutive clean sheets prior to that set-back bodes well for the Foxes defence as they welcome Swansea to the King Power Stadium. Kasper Schmeichel (FantasyBet 4.5m) could be in line for a 15th shut-out of the campaign against a side that failed to score at Newcastle last time out.

Jurgen Klopp will have one eye on the upcoming Europa League tie and could well decide to rest and rotate his squad, as evidenced by last week’s team sheet at Bournemouth. That could allow opportunities for some fringe players to make rare starts against Newcastle and provides some budget routes into an in-form Reds team, with the likes of Kolo Toure (FantasyBet 4m, DraftKings $2,300 ) and youngsters Sheyi Ojo (FantasyBet 5m, DraftKings $3,200) and Jordan Ibe (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,100), who both picked up an assist in recent appearances, potential budget enablers if you’re willing to gamble on the German making wholesale alterations once again.

We backed Andros Townsend (FantasyBet 5.5m, DraftKings $5,600) last week and the Newcastle winger duly delivered with a goal and assist. Klopp’s potential to rotate means we’re sticking with the Magpies man ahead of their vital trip to Anfield.

Chelsea have struggled for a semblance of resilience in recent matches and registered a single clean sheet – against Aston Villa – over the last nine. Bournemouth should fancy their chances against the champions, then, and Josh King (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings Forward $4,400) looks an in-form budget option for the Cherries, with four goals and an assist in six outings.

Arsenal have conceded eight goals in their last four away trips which should give Sunderland fans some hope as the Gunners travel to the Stadium of Light just three days after hosting West Brom. Jermain Defoe (FantasyBet 5m) scored a 13th goal of the season at Norwich and, with three strikes in five, may well be the difference for Big Sam’s men.

What do yoou guys think I should do with this team?

    GK: Lloris, Forster
Def: Bellerin, Fosu-Mensah, Fuchs, VVD, Wolly
Mid: Alli, Lingard, Sanchez, Payet, Firmino
    Att: Rondon (bleuuurrrgh), Martial, Aguero

    0.7ITB and 1FT

I was thinking ditching Payet and Martial for Townsend and Kane for a -4 hit. Payet hasn't been doing too much recently and I think getting Kane will trump his production. Townsend has some good fixtures coming up soon too, so he could be worth a shout

Doesn't seem to be much of a rush on here to get Mahrez back ? (for those of us who got rid). With Vardy out, someone needs to provide goals for Leic + he might be on penalties as well.

Thinking of few hits to fix my team after the DGW haul and get Mahrez Kane Rose

      Lots of rotation risk.

      Mitrovic not starting.
Aguero, KDB, Milner, Mignolet all rotation risk.

Personally expect all of Mitrovic / Aguero / KdB / Milner and Migs all to play this weekend.

Maybe one benched max, KdB looks most likely.

Milner is safe with Hendo out.
Migs was rested for a once off imo.
Kun / KdB will need to "keep up their form" according to MP.
Mitrovic is rested after Cisse starting 3 games in a week.

          Lets hope so.

I still think Ali is a good shout.

Him and Kane are so good at the moment.

For the sake of losing a FT you could lose out big time. West Brom don't stand a chance.

Can always transfer Payet back in.

True, and Alli really does look good, most of his hauls have come away from home though, I'd expect big scores from Kane / Eriksen this weekend, but hopefully Alli punters aren't left disappointed.

              Yeah i hope so.

My biggest dilemma is whether to play Coutinho or Defoe..

My logic is that If both were 100% playing I would play Coutinho as they are playing Newcastle. If he doesn't play, then Defoe is auto subbed on.

              What do you reckon?

Yeah Giroud was amazeballs last night I wonder why Wenger was not playing him all along? He did everything apart from put the ball in the net but you can hardly blame him for that since he didn't get any chances?

Lets face it last nights performance from Giroud was the reason he was dropped in the first place, no energy, constantly giving the ball away, no pace and no threat.

Fair enough.. but I disagree. He was marked out of those chances by 5 center backs but he contributed more than Welbeck imo.. and I'm a big Welbeck fan.

I'm not Welbecks biggest fan or Giroud's biggest critic.

Giroud does what Grioud does, he is an awkward lump that can be mildly threatening against defences that sit deep.
The game against Sunderland is away however and unless Walcott gets a go up top then I think Welbeck is nailed as they need pace on the counter away from home. Welbeck is just much more mobile than Giroud even if he is a pretty rubbish finisher also.

You might be onto something there, although ya never know with Wenger, he might want to try keep the ball down in Sunderland's half as much as possible with Giroud's big lumpy body holding the ball up.. Hoping Sanchez does the business again..

              Fair deducing though Dino 🙂

Tbf it is hard to discern the mind of Wenger but I think another reason he went with Giroud was Arsenal's vulnerability to set pieces and this was the reason for Mertesackers inclusions too.

While big Sam like a set piece and a bit of arial tennis too I don't think he has the players of a physical presence to overly worry Wenger with this particular Sunderland team. For this reason I would expect Gabriel to come back into the team also.

      It depends.

      A) Are you short of 2 players in order to field 11 this week?
      B) Will you captain Kane if you have him?

If the answer to both is "yes" then it's a reasonable move. If not then it's a wasted hit.

Any advice on my second team?

    Hennesy / DDG

    Bellerin / Fonte / Targett / Huth / Smith

    Payet / Mahrez / Barkley / Firmino / Alli

    Lukaku / Vardy / Kane

    7 players out this GW.

Curious to see how the double gameweeks worked out for everyone so far.

    1) OR after week 32
    2) OR after 34
    3) Chips used
    4) Thoughts and lessons learned?

    1) 54,800
    2) 42,400
    3) WC 33, BB 34
    4) Ended up moving up just 12k. Would have wanted it to be better, but fell to 85,500 after week 33. Huge fail on the Martial captaincy choice, but overall the focus and goal has been green arrows and I got a little one in the end. Not feeling great about the team I have for 35, but will take a -8 or -4 to right things a little.

      1) 83k
      2) 32k
      3) WC 32 BB 34
      4) triple captain would have been better.. would have made 25 points extra from TC made 16-17 from BB. May have overstretched for this week too :/

      1) 6.9k
      2) 3k
      3) WC+BB
      4) Definitely should have triple captained this week, there really isn't a decent TC choice in 37

      4. I'd have been better using to rather than bench boost(I'd have ended up with 12 more points) I have learnt that form over fixtures. I shouldn't have sold alli for lanzini, but you live and learn. Kept kane which was never in doubt to sell

      1) 276
      2) 9
      3) WC 33, BB 34
      4) 39 pts on the bench in 34 so glad to have used BB instead of TC on Sanchez. Was lucky with no major blanks except Martial too. Need some Spurs now!

Wow you had 5 players that didn't start both dbl gw fixtures and still hit a monster. I think we are going to have to forget this dbl as the rotation is totally atypical and could really damage us for next season if we try and learn too much from it.

Bit early to be doing an analysis yet as we won't know the full impact of the BB until after gw38 imo as we have robbed our teams off all the form players for the rotatarisk dbl gw players.

I am sitting on a decent green arrow over the two gws but I'm worried about this week and the last three as I am set up for the next double but shorn of all my lei and spurs players.

This is a rather unusual season though tbf, as usually the form players challenging for the league are the ones involved in the cup games too. The rise of the small teams has changed all that this season but it is too early to say if that is the way it is going to be in the future.

      1) 37,866
      2) 17,102
      3) WC33, BB34
      4) Selling in form players chasing the title was silly. Still made a huge jump towards the 10k so happy enough.

      1) 10,565
      2) 3,561
      3) TC Sanchez
      4) In last-minute frenzy added Martial, in earlier planning had added Lukaku. Both mistakes, especially as this removed Kane, but at least I had Aguero. Having Alli on the bench was not a genius move, either, but I'd planned TC not BB, so rest of bench minimal, and TC was the way to go. First time in 10k was a few weeks ago, first time in 5k this week; would be amazing to end there in my second season playing here, especially as my first few weeks this season were dismal..

      1) 4,225
      2) 2,583
      3) WC 32, Triple captain - Sanchez 34.
      4) Biggest lesson for me was less punty DGW players and keep the inform SGW players like ALI and Kane. Sanchez TC bailed me out in all honesty.

      1) 54th
      2) 57th (down to 89th start of GW34)
      3) WC32, BB34
      4) BB is overrated. Use it whenever you want but don't ruin your team to 'maximise' it.

    Bog standard RMT:

    Darlow
    Sakho Toby Bellerin Morgan
    Sanchez Alli Coutinho Townsend
    Kun Kane (C)
    Blank / Gabriel Blank Blank

Took a -4 to get my XI given all the uncertainty! (Alli/Toby in for Nasri/Smalling)

    GTG? 🙂
