Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Alli's antics last night have really thrown my my transfer plans!! Very few decent mids in his bracket. But it is making me lean towards a "safer" Liverpool midfielder....

    Hart - Gomes
Bellerin - Fuchs - VAN AARNHOLT - CRESSWELL - Simpson
    Sanchez - FABREGAS - Payet - MILNER - Lanzini
    Aguero - Kane - Sturridge

What do you reckon of the above 4 new signings, between now and GW37?

Will mean a couple of hits, but losing... Sakho, Gabriel, Alli and KDB... All pretty much not playing, all for DGWers.

Tempted to do -8 this week, and hold off on Fabregas till next week for free

      I like it!
Only thing I don't like is FABREGAS perhaps, not sure if chelsea will continue how they did to bou.
BOU has been awful last games

Cheers mate! I'm really not sure about Fabregas either. I was going to overlook him for Firmino, but now the Alli loss means I need a lower cost midfielder to fill his void, and Milner fits that bill nicely, and leaves enough cash to do Fab too. The idea of waiting is to see if I actually have the bottle to invest in him for the DGW

why not willian instead of fabregas? would that free up enough for firmino?

Haha! Yes, it absolutely would. And that was another option I considered, but I wasn't that keen on Willian.

            Do you reckon...

            Willian + Firmino > Fabregas + Milner

            ??

Personally I'd go for Willian and Firmino instead. Willian's cheaper and played in the no.10 role recently and Firmino could have good returns as a false 9 if Sturridge gets rested

    Mignolet** (Robles**)
Kirchoff** Smalling** Simpson (EVE) (Rose, Bellerin)
Firmino** Payet**(TC) Mahrez 6.7MID (dgwer?) (Sanchez)
    Rashford** Aguero Kane

    this is for -4

    Thoughts?
    And which mid for 6.7?

Is taking a hit too risky in such case?

Transfer(s) I could do this week that come my mind are:

    A. Sakho ➡ Reid
    B. Sakho + Coutinho ➡ Reid + Fabregas (-4)
    C. Sakho + Coutinho ➡ Cresswell + Willian (-4)

    which one would you recommend?

Lots of people shipping (or shipped) De Bruyne — chances he'll get some game time at St Mary's this week?

I'll probably do a straight swap for a chelsea MF — but with Hazard coming out in the press this week, they're all set up for a blank and a spurs away win IMO.

Ship to Lanzini instead (have Payet) and upgrade defoe to studge (which is very risky obviously)?

What should I prioritise here?? Happy to go -4 but that's it.

    Mignolet (Robles)
    Huth, Gabriel, Smalling (Clyne, Simpson)
    Sanchez, Iwobi, Payet, Mahrez (Coutinho)
    Defoe, Kane, Kun

I either need to lose Smalling or Coutinho to be able to upgrade Gabriel to Koscielny.

    Coutinho -> Lanzini (bnech headache)
    Smalling -> PvA or Reid??

Apologies for the long(ish) post, but I could really use some thoughts and advice about when to take hits and when to avoid them?

Thing is, I've taken -24 in hits over the last four gameweeks, and it has actually served me really well. I've scored 375 (-24) and gone from 53k to 8k. Without the hits, my score wouldn't be anywhere near this.

Now I've lined up more 6 transfers I want to make for the run in. Not one of them is really necessary, they're all about getting in players I think will get me more points than the ones I have.

I feel my instincts are pretty good atm; should I keep going with my gut, or slow down and keep to FTs?

    I'm only playing for OR.

Do what you think will net the biggest score. That is the ONLY rule to follow.

With chips and DGW's ahead, the tradition of staving of hits is out the window - especially for those looking to make up late ground in Money/Mini leagues.

      Depends on the transfers

Also thinking about Fabregas, Defoe (not convinced Sunderland will score the goals though)

if you think taking the hit will result in a points profit then do it. I can't be doing with the attitude of never taking hits. It's a great tool when used well.

Ok, I need to be realistic about the risk of the hit I'm tempted to take...

While I would be losing Sakho, Gabriel & Alli, the reality is I'd have (some) other playable options if I didn't sell, so...

    Non-hit v Hit (-8):
    Simpson (mun) v Cresswell (wba)
    Gabriel (NOR) v PvA (stk)
    KDB (sou) v Milner (swa)

    Which wins?

Gabriel and KDB unlikely to play. Outside of above comparisons I would have zero options on the bench (Alli, Sakho, Gabriel)

    1. Cradders
      • 10 Years

      1. Jøssy ⭐
        • 11 Years

        I'm not losing Simpson.

        I've giving a comparison of like-for-like scores.

Because if I don't take the hitm I can still play Simpson fro my bench, so it's not fair to benchmark Cresswell (?) v Sakho (0)

        Does that make sense?

    2. Jøssy ⭐
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 10 months ago

Also worth adding to the mix... that all three of these transfers would provide an additional DGW player too, so the hit could be considered -4 if taken next week.

Could get Firmino instead of Milner, but that would leave me just 6.9M to replace KDB the following week, and therefore Willian instead of Fabregas.

      Thoughts??

                I'm not either any more!!

I was when I was keeping Alli, downgrading KDB to Firmino and getting two solid DGW defenders with attacking threat.

                Damn you Alli!!

Well, not sure about bringing in Milner at all. Thats the issue. Would rather have Townsend in all honesty than him with EL around the corner.

Maybe even look at Willian?! Better option honestly due to possible rotation.

If I did Willian, there would be no Fabregas coming in next week. I'd do so to facilitate Firmino.

Do you prefer that route? Or are you resistant to all Liverpool mids now??

I prefer Firmino the most to be fair, and i own him and Coutinho.

What do you think of Townsend as an asset? I wasn't tempted due to the lack of a DGW, but looking at his next two fixtures and the fact he's something to play for, maybe...

Well i own Townsend fwiw 🙂 I think he is a pretty decent enabler and a good asset to have when you have players who will be missing games. Think he will come good in the next 3.

Obviously this is coming from a sour biased point of view but I despise what Tony Pulis does to football.

4 Centre halves in the back 4 with no intention of going forward
    A midfield of hackers
A big man up front to make things difficult
And a couple of wingers who work like dogs

They began wasting time from the first throw in last night and choked the game at every possible opportunity

    Fuming

It's not attractive, but I like it. Shows there are other sides to the game that many teams sorely lack (Arsenal in the main 🙂 ).

The thing is, if WBA didn't score goals, they'd be in the relegation zone. But they do. Teams need to defend better against them!

Regardless of how negative it looks, he did all he could to gst a result with a mediocre team playing against one of the best teams in the country. That's what struggling teams have to do.

Also a big striker to disrupt things and hard working wingers are used in many attacking teams.

Ola! He's the best BusDriver we've got in the PL.
Remember when he was at Stoke?

But I blame Spurs for yesterday, they didn't use Kane as they used to!
Kane had to come fetch the ball deep and they never played the ball to him in the box, except in the 1st minutes

Villa in 37 is as good as a DGW 😀

Around that, Palace at home with nothing to play for and Spurs on the final day, who will likely play a mixture of youth/squad players with the title race over

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is set to respond on Tuesday to UEFA's investigation into his alleged anti-doping violation.

He is likely to ask for his B sample to be tested, with the deadline for that request set for Tuesday.
