Euro 2016

With just over 24 hours left until France and Romania get Euro 2016 underway tomorrow evening, we’ve freshened up our Set Piece Takers tab with the summer tournament in mind.

We’ve delved into the international data in our members statistics, which, as revealed last week, takes in not only all of the Qualifying Rounds and the last 12 months of international friendlies but will also include the data from the tournament itself.

This should help Fantasy managers get a handle on those players likely to be issued dead-ball duties by their respective nations and could be particularly handy for those playing the DraftKings game, which is somewhat weighted in favour of those likely to supply plenty of crosses.

The new table comprises all 24 qualifiers from Groups A-F and will, when applicable, be updated on a daily basis to address any changes to free-kick, corner kick and penalty takers as the action unfolds right up until the final in the Stade de France on July 10.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    -----------------Sommer--------------
    Dier--Djour-Hector-Rodriguez-Sanga ---------Alli------Matuidi------Ozil-------
    -------------Giroud-----Muller------------

    Subs: Alaba,Fabregas,Nani,Patricio

If one of the defenders didn't get a clean sheet can I sub him with Fabregas for example after the matchday ends ?

    A) Sagna, Gotze, Payet, Nolito
    B) Rami, Mak, Mario, Ronaldo

    This is really hard....

Attacking returns and nailed-on-ness - is it worth paying extra for any of the following defenders:

    Rodriguez 6.0 over Djourou 5.0?
    Srna 6.0 over Strinic 4.0?
    Alba 7.0 over Juanfran 5.5?

For me no, since there are only 3 games in group stages where they have the chance to show their attacking potential

Generally you don't pay only for potential attacking returns but rather for showing up insurance.

Djourou or Juanfran may play less, Strinic may not even get a chance if Croatian coach decides to go with Vrsaljko or even Vida.

Following the Payet post, something else I don't understand about your teams:

Many people are saying that the security of starts and quality of player is more important for the person playing set in the gameweek, because they can't be subbed out if they fail to start or perform.

However, you will surely only be swapping out somebody who has already played if they have failed to score fantasy points. So the likelihood is your total exposure for the change not working out is almost nil

'set' in the gameweek = last. Autocorrect.

It more applies to the first game of matchday 1 and 5

First game, you can sub someone out before deadline
Last game you could save a few points by seeing of the player you'd be bringing in is on the bench or not

You might remove a player with a few points (say 4 points) hoping to get more from your final sub. If that final sub doesn't play then you've lost 4 points.

      I agree.

And guaranteeing starts means Rami, Juanfran, Hector, Djourou in defence rather than Kos, Alba, Boateng, Rodriguez. This, when we already know that casuals will be picking the latter.

Spreading the risk may be the correct tactic, but its not what everyone will do, and its not that much fun either. 1 or 2 punts / cheapies is surely a decent approach when no one knows what will happen anyway.

It doesn't really matter in this case. Spain plays specifically and their wingers play like attackers often doubling central striker position and leave place for left and right backs. Nolito may score the same as Morata and is 2 million cheaper. For me it is easy whose better to chose.

Since Schär is my only player on day 2, would you do this:

    Hector + Fabregas --> Höwedes + Hamsik?

    1. I Member
      • 10 Years

Only if you think Hamsik will outscore Fabregas. Forget about the days. As long as you have a decent captaincy option each day (and Schar is a decent one) then it's fine. Pick the players you think will score the most points.

        Rami Schär Hector Juanfran Strinic
        KDB Götze Perisic Junuzovic 7.0

In response to the Payet replies on the previous page:

    - I can guarantee that you will want to use your free transfer somewhere else after the first gameweek. Somebody will be injured, somebody will knock on a brace, etc. The same logic applies when people suggest planned transfers for the first three weeks of the normal FPL season.

    - Surely the best time to use the wildcard is after the round of 16? You will have just had a free wildcard at the end of the group stages (if I recall correctly), and half the teams will be about to be knocked out (the largest amount in one go, save for after the group stages).

Seems to me to be best to avoid these potential problems.

    1. Bøwstring The Carp
      • 14 Years

That's why a good bench is essential

If you suffer an injury/ suspension in the team and feel that a FT is your only solution then your team isn't planned well enough

Besides it's all speculation. Payet could notch a brace and retain his place. Muller could get injured. Ronaldo might flop. Who knows what could happen. 8m for a midfielder playing with the tournament favourites and has set pieces s a calculated risk. You either go for it or don't

Just noticed that Lew and Muller play on the same day. Lew plays in the afternoon and Muller plays in the evening. Can you switch captain in the middle of the matchday? if not, is it pointless to have both?
