With the knockout stage of Euro 2016 about to get underway, our hot topic posters were full of advice on the best players to draft in as we re-assemble our squads and also discussed ways in which the tournament could be improved. We also find out who is riding high in our Euro 2016 community competitions, as well as gather some early thoughts on domestic issues, with the Premier League fixture list unveiling already whetting the community’s appetite for the season ahead.

The Community Articles

In our latest community article of the month prize, Ludo emerged victorious from our community vote for his excellent look at the psychology of Fantasy management. A £20 Amazon voucher is on his way to him.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Fantasy managers are preparing themselves for the Round of 16 phase of Euro 2016 this weekend. With unlimited transfers in the official Uefa game there has been plenty of discussion about drafting in players that will not only score well in the next match but should emerge as shrewd long-term investments. For those looking for a recap on the key price changes ahead of the next set of fixtures, Greenwindmill has kindly gathered up the risers and fallers.

Sticking with Euro 2016, Ryan prompted one of the week’s busiest discussions with his ideas for a new format for the competition. In terms of England’s prospects, TheFluffyCamel leapt to Roy Hodgson’s defence after the England manager’s tinkering was widely blamed for his side’s failure to clinch top spot in Group B.

On the domestic front, the new Premier League fixture list was this month’s key event. We looked at the teams with the best start to the 2016/17 campaign, while Balders ran the rule over the best season-long rotation pairs, which is ideal for those on the hunt for budget goalkeepers in particular. Rotation pairs also came under scrutiny later when we focused on the best match ups in the first six Gameweeks.

Paying close attention to early fixtures is set to prove crucial to getting a good head start. Pap Le Cissier canvassed further advice from the community on key ways to ensure the start of a Premier League season is a fruitful one for Fantasy managers.

Elsewhere in the top-flight, another exodus of players is being widely predicted for Southampton. However, Saints fan Lucy urges caution in writing off her team, which has more than coped with a spate of high-profile departures in recent years.

Finally, this month has seen another new addition to the FFScout moderator team, with AZ joining. He has already got his feet under the table by publicising news of his appointment before we had a chance to.

The Members Tables

The community’s table constructors have been taking full advantage of this season’s Membership, which includes international statistics for those playing Euro 2016 Fantasy games. Gavaza’s most recent table takes a look at the tournament’s most attacking players, while Balders’ latest looks at a range of key statistics for success among Euro 2016 players.

For those playing DraftKings Euro 2016 games I’ve created this handy table focusing on the key stats for success in the game.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Fantasy Football Frog dropped by to launch a dedicated article for his Frogball Euro 2016 competition for updates and tournament discussion.

Ahead of the first knock out phase of Euro 2016 the leader of the FFScout Official Uefa game league is Mzungu Maskini on 217. He is closely followed by Fitzy on 216. Meanwhile, Greenwindmill tops the FFScout moderators and contributors official Uefa league.

In our exclusive free to enter DraftKings game on Thursday, JohnLuthersCoat claimed the first prize of $50, with Belgium’s goal scoring midfielder Radja Nainggolan and Portugal’s Nani among his star picks.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

    first draft, have WC:

    Fabianski

    Jed Taylor Hector

    Perisic Rakitic Ramsey Witsel

    Ronaldo Muller Bale (c)

    Halldorsson Payet Giachherini Meunier

    0.2 ITB

Muller --> Lukaku/Giroud and upgrade Witsel

don't fancy Giroud and Lukaku is so hot and cold, I know Muller hasn't scored yet but has been shooting a lot and he usually does well in the latter stages of tournaments.

but yeah Witsel is a worry, but has been getting good returns

I'd Upgrade Witsel to Dzudzsak/Alli at the very least. Maybe Taylor to Chester for that.

not sure Dzud is an upgrade over Witsel, maybe Alli but I think Iceland will keep England out

as above Witsel has good returns

Yes. Witsel does. But having WC intact you should look at MD3 options like Alli. You have only Giaccherini now who is likely getting a 2.

I have Gio and Iceland GK, but I can't see any good md3 options really. As I said I don't think England will score and the Italy Spain game is so hard to call. Gia has attacking threat but I hope I have a good enough captain score by md3.

Team is not finalised but I am struggling to see the appeal of someone like Alli, has only got one assist and he has been played deeper than he should be with Rooney sitting no.10.

I understand the appeal of having more md3 players but I don't think it's worth the sacrifice with better options md1&md2

            1. Grand Thibauto
              • 11 Years
              9 years, 9 months ago

Iceland GK is not a valid MD3 option really. Having 2 or more MD3 options would give you to access all your other players to realize who to sub in or out. You may have to sub out some 3 pointers for your MD2 bench options while you would may get 1 point from them. But having some MD3 options, you would know who are getting the 1 point and sub them out.
Alli has been successful so far but you could say the same about Ozil who got only one assist so far. Alli almost scored when he came of the bench only for a goal line clearance by skrtel. And he looked better the first two matches as well. Englands finishing has been dreadful. My case about Alli is more about having a MD3 option than his explosive appeal.

I would prefer to have Witsel over having Alli just because Alli offers a md3 option

to me it's not worth the risk having someone purely because they are md3

I might consider Dier if I can squeeze him in, but not sure how I can do that unless I loose Gia which is pointless as it's 1 md3 for another.

Never thought this would happen but I will have a benching headache for day 2 if both Bale and Ramsey get returns -- my other 6 attackers all play the next day. Need to diversify into day 3, but England are the only really appealing attacking squad.

Is a Sturridge and Vardy double up too risky?

Yes it really is. I think if you want extra England the logical place is the defence. The great thing about holding a defender back is they can replace anyone who fails (apart from keeper) whereas you have to have a minimum no of defs. plus they have a reasonable chance of a clean sheet imo

Strinic or Vsalijko - who will play for Croatia - I need to be sure which one will start. Lucy perhaps?

How sure are you about Strinic? Vsalijko played well last game. What makes Strinic nailed?

I am pretty sure Slovakia will score against Germany, but I am afraid to go without German defender.

Hamsik, Mak, Weiss. Germany wasn't so good at defending by the wings.

According to the Euro app Alli is "unlikely to start next game". What do me make of this?

Downgrade to Duda, and use funds to make your team amazing 🙂

For some reason I'm struggling to match other people's teams having wildcarded most of the risers out.

Might have a cheeky punt on Jonathan Williams at 4.5

    Hennessey / Hart

    Guerreiro / Jedrzejczyk / Meunier / Rami / Dier

    Perisic / Ramsey / Payet / KDB / Hazard

    Bale / Ronaldo / Nolito

    Thoughts?

Wow, nearly exactly the same team but Chester / Hector over Jed / Dier
and Kroos / Gomez for Hazard / Nolito

I'd like a non English defender from Day 3.

Narrowed it down to Giaccherini or Alba.

Could Giacch get a cleanie before being subbed?
Could Alba get an assist? Bid difference in money, whats your thoughts

Gia can get a cs. Alba too can get a cs. Assist is difficult to predict

If you can afford Alba then go for it. I fancy 0-0 or 1-0 Spain AET. Italian attack is woeful and Alba is integral to the Spanish attack.

Pretty good. No harm in taking a gamble but it doesn't give you alot of options with swapsies. I think having a day 1 def, 2 Germans and 2 england would work a lot better.

If your first def gets a cleanie keep it and then if Germany doesn't you can swap the both of them and still get 3 clean sheets

I like it better than your previous one. You'd have to decide on a points cap to transfer Hazard in if all your Day 1 boys do OK, 4/5 and swapped out maybe

Yep, will need to decide on that when the time comes. Thanks for your help on it!
