England and Iceland go head-to-head at 8pm as the Euro 2016 Round of 16 comes to an end.

Both sides were runners-up in their respective groups on the back of a win and two draws apiece, though there’s no question that the underlying stats are in favour of the Three Lions.

Given that Iceland have averaged just 28.3% possession so far, it’s fair to say that their opponents will be expected to dominate proceedings as the Scandinavians sit deep. As we saw against Slovakia, though, Roy Hodson’s side have toiled to break down obstinate opponents – they registered 29 unsuccessful attempts in their goalless draw against Slovakia.

England produced almost three times the number of attempts on goal (64 to 23) than their opponents over the group stages, though despite a wealth of options in the final third, currently lack a cutting edge and have scored just three times so far.

Iceland have found the net on more occasions (four) but given they’ve managed just nine shots on target, it remains to be seen if they can maintain a lofty 17.4% goal conversion rate – the highest in the tournament.

At the back, England again have reason for optimism. Hodgson’s men allowed a single big chance against in the group stages – less than any other side – and conceded just 11 efforts inside the box.

Iceland, on the other hand, have afforded the opposition 25 efforts in the penalty area, which bodes well for the Three Lions’ chances of grabbing the win that would see them square up to tournament favourites France in the quarter-final stage next time out.

    Neuer - Henessy
    Hector - Rami* - Dier* - Vermaelan* - Meunier
    KdB - Payet - Perisic* - Ramsey - Kroos
    Ronaldo - Gomez - Milik
    0.9ITB

I need to generate another 0.9 from the defense to upgrade Perisic to Hazard. Thinking Rami, Dier, Verm -> Giaccerini, Guerrero, 5.0.

Which 5.0? Thinking of either Denayar, Mangala or wait til deadline and choose a Potuguese one whos starting

I just came here to say: The pathetic-ness of this England team is beyond all imagination. Rooney is absolutely terrible and should not be playing. Hodgson has absolutely no idea, putting Rashford on in the 87th minute. Sterling being on the pitch AT ALL.

I am also particularly bitter because I knew England sucked so I put 2 bets on the game to end a draw on ( quite spectacular) odds of 4.50.

We "invented" (?) the damned game and yet we haven't won anything since 1966...and the worse news is we never won anything before that either.

1966 did us no favours really as it just helped persuade us that we sit at the top table of football. We won that trophy at a time when the home nation was damned near a running certainty to either win it or come runner up in their own tournament...such was the massive advantage of home tournaments back then.

We really need a reality check.

I said before the tournament that I wouldn't mind them going out as long as they did it with a bit of fight and had a go....

The FA should make them pay for there own way home and pay the fans back that travelled to watch that.

The shiny spec in that pile of dung is that Hodgson is gone. Please, just someone that has some vision and conviction...

England has a great team but they are all individual stars. No idea how to play off one another. Also, where was the veteran leadership to spur them on? They fielded a very young team with no one but Rooney capable of calling anyone out.

tbf everyone around him was cack and the number of times he was forced to run into the box as Kane and Sturridge were MIA ball hunting was so frustrating. He was set up to look bad by a number of factors so I'm not going to lay into him for other people leaving him high and dry, especially at such a young age.

Saw earlier Ray Wilkins saying I would give Hoddle the job again. No Ray no. Time to give a young enthusiastic manager a go instead of an old dinosaur. Eddie Howe for me

why would Howe take the FA over a juicy Premier League contract?

The pride of leading ones country, but then again after all the disappointment with England why would anyone want the job

Ha, eff that! Do what's best for yourself and your career. And the England national team ain't that for somebody with a bright top tier future ahead of them.

Where do we sign the petition for a 2nd referendum and a rematch with Iceland ?

RP. Help me to solve this one - Do I need to take a hit? Rami + DDG + Dier + Alli + Perisic + Rakitic = 6 players out. Since I've got no WC i'm in a hell of a mess.
Thinking of keeping Rami and DDG (have Henn playing) and transfer out the other four players.
    What would you do?

    Any Belgians around?
Anyone know if Martens is likely to start vs Wales?

Played terrible vs Hungary. Carrasco was carrying a knock and looked much better when he played.

I would stay clear even if he does start will likely make way early

The app when I go on the transfer page is saying 0 transfers made 16 points deducted ? I've made no transfers is this just a glitch ?

No. Unfortunately, that point deduction happened and cannot be retracted.

Anyone have any insight into whether it'll be Umtiti or Mangala to replace Rami? Cheers.

      Mangala I would have thought

    Anyone getting Mangala?

He is the only one I can afford.

Doing DDG, Rami, Cahill, Perisic and Ramsey to Buffon, Mangala, Guerreiro, Hazard and Blasczykowski for -4.

I wouldn't unless you still have your WC. He could be straight back out of the team after Rami serves his ban.

I think it's risky because he might only play one game. I have 6 players out, therefore I think I'll have to keep Rami...

I don't think there have been any price rises. So looks like we were correct on that one

Nah. It would have been done already if it was going to happen.

The rules did suggest this was the case but you never know
