The Round of 16 is concluded today with a couple more fixtures for Fantasy managers to consider.

First up at 5pm, Italy take on Spain for the right to meet Germany in the quarter-finals.

Both sides will be looking to bounce back from respective defeats to Republic of Ireland and Croatia in the final round of group matches.

Having swept aside Belgium and Sweden in their first couple of fixtures, Antonio Conte’s men will be confident of overcoming the defending champions, though will need to make do without the injured Antonio Candreva this afternoon.

The stats are somewhat in Spain’s favour for this one, though. Despite scoring just once more than The Azzurri so far, Vicente del Bosque’s side fired more than double the number of attempts on goal (51 to 25) and have allowed their opponents just 27 attempts on goal compared to Italy’s 34.

No need to be pedantic TM, you know what I'm on about.

I'm looking for a reason why they didn't accredit KDB with an assist for Hazard's goal last night when it was within all of their rules. I'm not looking for a number, I'm looking for a reason.

Solo run by Hazard is the reason. Had he scored within 5 metres from receiving the balls KDB would have got an assist. The action of passing 3 players going sideways ruled out the assists according to Uefa.

"A player will be credited with a goal assist when he delivers/plays the final pass, cross, header or shot which leads to the goal being scored. This will also apply to set plays (i.e. corner, free kick, throw-in etc).

In addition, an attempt which rebounds from the goal frame, the goalkeeper or a defender can be considered as an assist, if it leads directly to a goal.
When a pass, shot or cross by an attacker contributes to an own goal, an assist can be awarded to the attacker.

Only one player can be credited with an assist per goal scored.
No assist is awarded to a player winning a penalty or a free-kick.
No assist is given to a player who creates his own goalscoring opportunity (e.g. solo run/dribble)."

Whatever about UEFA's official stance on assists is, the assist should be given within the confines of the fantasy game as nowhere does it state anything about what you are referring to. The final point above clearly refers to the goalscorer and mentions nothing about the player that passed it to him last. All that matters to me is

"A player will be credited with a goal assist when he delivers/plays the final pass, cross, header or shot which leads to the goal being scored."

            It should be given

Well if Uefa don't count it as an assist, it's silly to count it on their official fantasy game.

Even when their fantasy games states in the rules that it should be given?

De Bruyne passed it to Hazard, Hazard scored. Assist.

Says nothing in the rules about KDB not getting an assist because Hazard dribbled it past a few players. Only reference is that Hazard does not get an assist because he set up the goal.

It's there in black and white and they should stick to it, considering they gave Weiss an assist for Hamsik's goal, etc.

        Conflicting rules = shoddy game

"A player will be credited with a goal assist when he delivers/plays the final pass, cross, header or shot which leads to the goal being scored."

Disappointed they didn't do a better job and left it as a shambles (even with the classification of some players)

Does anybody believe the news about Arsenal making an official bid for Gabigol? ESPN Brazil said they offered a sum a bit lower than the release clause.

I'd much rather Rooney be booted out of the team.

Rooney doesn't have the discipline to play in a 2 man Moureen midfield. Would lose the ball a lot with his Hollywood pass too

All up in the air right now.. Rooney only hope these days is in the double pivot and we have better options and can invest in certainly better.. a weaker manager aka Moyes or LVG would shoe horn Rooney in.. Jose will not imo.. unless he is producing performances worthy of a spot.. Kroos rumoured to be an option and if Pogba goes to Madrid it's possible..

Could be the case mate.. all will become a lot clearer within the next few weeks before clubs jet off on pre season tours

Issue is they gave the keys to the club to Rooney years ago. He has gotten away with petulant behaviour, threatening to leave the club repeatedly unless he got more money under both Fergie and Moyes. When you think back to Fergie of old and how he dealt with players like that, Rooney should have been tossed out. He wasn't and has grown into a lazy sod who shows up entirely out of shape for the season with a first touch of a League 2 player. I'm certain he is being protected by higher ups at the club at this stage.

I really hope Mou drops him but I have absolutely no faith that that decision will be his to make. I hope I'm wrong, but for a long time I've sense that Wayne rules the roost at United.

Rules the roost no more... Jose won't have any of that nonsense and wouldn't have taken the job if he didn't have total control over such issues after being constantly undermined by Roman at Chelski

That is my hope. But when you look at someone like LVG who, though unpopular etc. he has a long history of falling out with players and dropping players. Then Rooney plays like an amateur, overweight player and still keeps his place?

The one thing I cling to is the likes of Giggs leaving the club signals that some control from the board is being relinquished. Will they let it extend to Rooney? I f**king pray for it.

It's a pretty simple scenario for Rooney at this stage.. either accept that he is no longer guaranteed first 11 football week in week out or go back to Everton lol.. but seriously though there was a time Rooney could leave and go to another superpower club.. not a hope now.. he can still play a decent amount of games which i'm fine with but could and should be seeing a lot more bench time..

Wont have players schooled in this way.
I'm sure they will be great in defence but players in Italy are extreme

A chelsea defender and a man United defender both who you play every week plus three rotating defenders might be an interesting tactic. Both united and chelsea start the season with good fixtures.

Lots of card magnets in this game. Ramos, Bonucci, Chellini can all get firey and hot headed
