With attentions turning towards the start of the Premier League campaign, we’ve published a new video previewing our Fixture Ticker tool.

The Fixture Ticker is long established as a key component on the site and has evolved into a vital tool for all our visitors, not least our Members, who enjoy a host of features to aid fixture analysis and selection strategies.

This video acts as both an introduction to the Fixture Ticker, highlighting how it’s launched and how the free version can be used, plus a guide for those with access to the Members version. It can be viewed as a whole or you can jump to the chapters that may interest you.

Those familiar with the Fixture Ticker should certainly note the chapter on rotation, which demonstrates how the Members ticker can be used to analyse potential pairings – a new feature for this season. You can see that element of the Ticker explained in full here.

This really is a powerful addition. By selecting any team and hitting “sort by rotation”, the ticker now ranks those teams most appropriate for rotation with the highlighted team over the Gameweek range you choose to display. You can apply this using both the attacking and defence filters to analyse rotation pairings in attack and defence. View this chapter to see this explained in full.

Here’s a rundown and links to all the chapters included:

      Russian roulette between Italy/Germany.

Risky.. but equally potential to be epic.

Italian fan here so im steering clear from adding german/italian players and focusing on the other 3 fixtures as i believe Poland, Belgium and France will progress. Germany Italy is the fip of a coin imo.

well people were convinced Spain would beat Italy or at least score against them and look what happened there.

they have by far the best defence in the tournament and are extremely well organised playing with the worlds best keeper and an all Juve backline who played together over the course of a lot of games. They also have a crazy record against Germany, in fact I am 99% sure Germany have never beaten them in a competitive game.

Germany have had issues with scoring goals apart from the Hungary match (which is in part due to Hungry attacking so much and going for goals.)

Only way I see a German win is on pens after a 0-0

Germany didn't play Hungary though and I think the best gk in the world is on the other side of the pitch but do think Germany will win this one though. Like you said Italy does have a great defence but I think there will be a German goal.

            sorry meant Slovakia....

Buffon is better than Neur, he doesn't make mistakes and has far more experience, plus he has played wth the defence in front of him all season. Neur is a close 2nd best keeper in the world but he still makes mistakes and has a worse defence in front of him.

Germany are far more suspect at the back.

We'll leave the 'best' gk open for debate but well if you fancy Italy I'd get 2 of 3 defenders at most, 5 is just ridiculous. I guess France and Belgium have a good chance on a cs as well so would not place all your eggs in the same basket there 😀

Its not me u need to convince. Italy have the most clean sheets in the history of the competition overall.

but like i said above.. Its the flip of a coin between Germany Italy.

My life in football tournaments. Reading back, long read so summary, disappointing on the whole!

WC '78: Didn't qualify. Great WC tho
Euros '80: Qualified undefeated. Convinved we'd win it. Exit 1st round. England fans rioted during first match when opposition equalled. Quite appalling. Clemence and Shilts alternated
WC '82: didn't qualify. But another great WC
Euros '84 : didn't qualify. TV coverage wasn't that great that year I seem to remember
WC '86: Out by the 'hand of God' goal
Euros '88: lost to Rep Ireland first match. 3rd Group game interrupted our post grad project work when one guy said he had a portable TV in the boot of his car and we could watch England vs Holland in the computer lab! Van Bastan destroyed us and i fell behind on project!
WC '90: lost on pens to the Germans. Annoyingly their opening goal took a wierd deflection over Shilts. More annoyingly Stuart Pearce hit his penalty TOO HARD down the middle that the German keeper hadn't had time to dive out of the way before it hit his feet! Check out the replay next time and you'll see.
Euro '92: turnip head took Lineker off!
    WC '94: didn't qualify. Not a great world cup I don't think.
Euros '96: Gazza just a tad too late on that slide!
    WC '98: B(low) E(ngland's) C(hances) K(ick) H(ard) A(rgy) M(idfielder).
Euros 2000: Keegan attacking style had us 2 up to Portugal to lose 3-2 in first match, beat Germany but Phil Neville gave away the most obvious penalty of all time to Romania inn3rd group game when all we had to do was draw! Exit first round
WC '02: early morning matches. We just had nothing extra against a 10 man Brazil in Japan.
Euros '04:Lost to Portugal on Pens
WC '06: Owen injured, Rooney sent off, no thanks to Ronaldo. Lost to Portugal on Pens again
    Euros '08: didn't qualify
WC '10: bought a HD TV. ITV managed to miss the first game's England goal! Later we get killed by Germany Inc a disallowed goal that was miles over the line
Euros 2012: packed the bus against Italy in knockout stage until they beat us on pens
WC '2014: Out at group stage.
Euros '16: got beaten by a nation that has more volcanoes than footballers!

Also ideally would want 15 players due to the unpredictability of the game, but not worth a hit.

Milik did well in the qualifiers and seems cheap at 7.5M
Got Błaszczykowski in for his penalties instead but it's good to have Polish "cover"

Hey DZ. Any criticisms of this wildcard team?

    Fabiański
    Giaccherini Hector Meunier Guerreiro
Kroos Błaszczykowski (C) De Bruyne Hazard
    Bale Gomez

    Lloris, Payet, Giroud, Koscielny

Looks pretty good. Don't fancy a double up on German attack vs Italy or Bale vs Belgium though.

Michy Batshuayi to Chelsea looks like a done deal for 40 million euros. How do we think he's gonna do in the premier league?

I feel as though all the European teams have declined in quality so it's anyone's to take. I think Poland will win though.

You could be right. I just have a nagging feeling that they will progress, possibly with a dodgy decision from the ref in villainous fashion.

Great article here on Batshuayi's prospects; https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fancy-stats/wp/2016/05/26/marseilles-michy-batshuayi-and-other-players-ready-for-a-bigger-stage/

A whole lot of promise for him, really looking forward to how he'll perform in a Conte system now.

        Cheers, mate! 🙂

Assuming Conte sticks to his tried & tested system, it could very well be the 352 with a Costa strike partnership up top imo. Can't see another way he'd be implement as he's still a bit too inexperienced to lead the line right away tbh. I think a discipline-focused mentor-manager like Conte could do great things with him.

        I'm definitely optimistic 😉

I've got no WC left, so I could really use some help.

    A) Lloris / DDG*******
    Koscielny / Hector / Meunier / Giaccherini / Rami*******
    Kroos / Draxler / Payet / Hazard / Perisic*******
    Bale / Griezmann / Milik

    B) Lloris / DDG*******
    Koscielny / Hector / Meunier / Giaccherini / Rami*******
    Kroos / Draxler / Payet / Hazard / Blaszczykowski
    Bale / Müller / Milik

which one would you pick? it's risky going with only 12 players, but I really fancy Griezmann over Müller.

I think I'm done with my WC team, looks really hit or miss I guess:

    Rui Patricio - Buffon
    Alderweireld - Meunier - Giacchierini - Koscielny - Guerreiro
    KDB - Hazard - Payet - Pogba - Renato
    Griezmann - Giroud - Lukaku

    1. Walsh
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 13 days ago

It's quality. Have your backup plan ready for Renato in case he doesn't feature. I prefer Sagna to Kos against a bus - more chance of an attacking return from a fullback in that game I think. Looks tidy, though. Triple Belgium attack boom or bust but I love it. Lukaku looked great against Hungary love him as a differential pick.

Yeah I have in mind some possible downgrades in case Renato doesn't start - Pogba to Matuidi, Giroud to Nani for example. Thanks man.
