With four Premier League sides – Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Swansea and West Brom – all in action over the next few hours, we roll out a first re-cap of the summer fixtures to date this evening.

Listed below is a match by match breakdown of all the encounters so far, with details of goals, assists and line-ups.

We’ll be publishing a round-up of the latest results tomorrow, while all the pre-season scores, scout notes and form players are being captured and collated in our Pre-Season Section.

Carolina RailHawks 2 West Ham 2

The Hammers’ brief American tour ended in the early hours of this morning with no wins, a couple of goals and a 40-minute bad weather delay as their sights now turn to their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first leg on July 28.

Skipper Winston Reid (who managed a goal at both ends of the pitch) was teed up for the Hammers’ first by Andy Carroll before the big Geordie put his side ahead thanks to a cross from new wide man Sofiane Feghouli.

Slaven Bilic rang the changes, with nine players swapped from the 46th minute onwards, and the lack of continuity, hot and humid conditions and the threat of further thunderstorms conspired to produce a second-half of little quality or incident – on the pitch, at least.

Although Sam Byram started both matches at right-back, it’s worth noting that Michail Antonio did not fly out for the US tour due to the recent birth of his child.

West Ham XI: Adrian (Spiegel 46), Byram (Makasi 63), Reid (Henry 63), Burke (Rice 63), Cresswell (Page 46), Obiang (Poyet 63), Noble, Feghouli (Quina 63), Samuelsen, Lanzini (Browne 63), Carroll (Martinez 46).

Seattle Sounders 3 West Ham 0

Slaven Bilic used no fewer than 21 players to start the club’s two-match tour of America on July 5, handing debuts to new signings Sofiane Feghouli and Havard Nordtveit, as well as youngsters Antonio Martinez and Domingos Quina.

Former Valencia star Feghouli caught the eye and quickly formed a partnership with another summer signing (from the same Spanish club), Toni Martinez, when the pair came on at half-time. The latter is expected to be eased into English football through the Hammers’ development squad.

In addition to the above-mentioned Antonio, Bilic is having to make do without star midfielder Dmitri Payet and defenders James Collins and Angelo Ogbonna as the trio rest up after their Euro 2016 campaigns. A fourth international, Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph, is likely to leave the club in search of regular first team football, whilst rumoured Sunderland target, Diafra Sakho, stayed behind in London due to a back problem.

West Ham XI: Adrian (Spiegel 46), Byram (Feghouli 46), Page, (Cresswell 46), Reid (Henry 46), Rice (Burke 46), Poyet (Nordtveit 46), Noble (Obiang 46), Browne (Quina 46), Samuelsen (Lanzini 46), Makasi, Carroll (Martinez 46).

Tranmere Rovers 0 Liverpool 1

A second-half strike from Danny Ings earned Liverpool victory in the first of a busy pre-season campaign which will also take in trips to America and Germany.

In a match that took place last Friday, Ings captained a completely changed second-half Liverpool line-up, firing home after good work from Academy player Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Coach Jurgen Klopp handed debuts to new signings Sadio Mane, Joel Matip and Loris Karius in the first period and had to delve deep into the club’s playing resources as a dozen internationals are yet to return to training following Euro 2016 duties.

Liverpool XI: First half: Karius; Flanagan, Matip, Lovren, Smith; Lucas, Brannagan, Ejaria; Kent, Mane, Firmino.

Liverpool XI: Second half: Bogdan, Randall, Ilori, Wisdom, Moreno; Stewart, Chirivella, Alexander-Arnold; Markovic, Woodburn, Ings.

York City 0 Middlesbrough 6

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka was another to field 22 players as his newly-promoted side swept aside York City last Saturday.

Karanka was without new signings Victor Valdes, Bernardo Espinosa and Viktor Fischer and promotion winners Ben Gibson and Grant Leadbitter, but he will have been encouraged by the second-half performance of January capture Jordan Rhodes, who hit two goals in a lively showing.

David Nugent and Adam Reach supplied a goal and assist apiece, whilst wide man Albert Adomah also managed to get his name on the scoresheet.

Middlesbrough XI: First half: Mejias, Nsue, Baptiste, Morris, Husband (Friend 27), Pattisom, Forshaw, Adomah, De Sart, De Pena, Nugent.

Middlesbrough XI: Second half: Konstantopoulos, Halliday, Jackson, McGhee, Friend, Clayton, de Roon, Carayol, Downing, Reach, Rhodes.

Woking 1 Watford 1

New Watford boss Walter Mazzarro tried out a 3-5-2 formation for the Hornets’ first friendly of pre-season on Sunday, shifting to a flat back-four just after the hour mark.

Dutch winger Steven Berghuis opened the scoring midway through the first-half with a deflected strike (courtesy of an Ikechi Anya assist) as Mazzarro tinkered with both formation and personnel, giving new signings Abdoulaye Doucoure, Jerome Sinclair and Isaac Success debuts after the break.

One notable absentee was club captain Troy Deeney, who was left out as a precaution after sustaining a slight knock in training, while Almen Abdi wasn’t involved due to sickness.

Watford XI: Gomes (Arlauskis, HT); Nyom, Britos (Rowan, 85), Hoban (Success, 67); Amrabat (Holebas, 59), Capoue (Guedioura, HT), Suarez (Watson, HT), Berghuis (Doucoure, HT), Anya; Ighalo (Sinclair, HT), Vydra (Oulare, HT).

To be fair, our batting isn't much better than them but our bowling lineup should seriously test England

        1. Jay_

Your batting is going to be have to be good mate, in English conditions, I don't think there is a team on earth that can deal with Broad and Anderson on fire. Can't see a draw in any of the games unless it rains, going to be very interesting how our batters cope after having it easy all summer so far.

I fancy a closely fought series, with England coming out on top with a 2-1 victory.

Serious test for our openers, and your middle order!

Im trying to remember a player that comes back from tournaments, qualifiers, even friendlies as beat up as Alexis.
South American matches are nasty and he takes alot more hacks than most being the major threat on his team. Plus I think he gets jacked more and plays harder for Chile. Club teams should organize and force a "No National Team" a month before the season starts. Why should Club teams subsidize National teams?

Just my opinion, I could be wrong

Just not enough time in the year, tbh.

Euros, Copa, World Cup, ACON, international friendlies, on top of league, two cups and European competition.

There's going to be overlap. I just think clubs have to suck it up.

Adding more rounds to the Euro's is ridiculous though.

They could start by scrapping replay matches in the FA cup, that would save on a few fixtures each season

Yep, although they are often good for the lesser teams, so a balance is needed.

They've scrapped QF replays this year, so it's a start.

So take income away from the club teams so national teams can have fresher players.

Palace is usually a safe option but they were defensively awful in the second half of last season. I kept Hennessy throughout and I think it's put me off!

If I invest in any premium keeper it'll probably be him - mourinho loves a clean sheet and de gea's ability to gain save points goes without saying

Real mutual respect and love between those two for sure.. even more so on Fergie's behalf i reckon.. watch him congratulate Ronnie after the euros the way he looks at him like he's in awe a bit of how good he has become from the kid he signed

We will see. How much football do you watch? I tend to have a good start and tail off in the middle. I think this in part because I don't get to watch that much football and others get an advantage whereas I am quite good at planning

admittedly not a lot, especially last season. I gave up watching MOTD due to how bad Chelsea were playing (I'm a Chelsea fan)

Haha yeah true, only way is up if we start off poorly.
I do watch a lot of football each week when the season is going on and i can honestly say, it has no impact on doing better in FPL, every week just seems to be different from the previous, key is to just grab the right players before they go off on some mad run, that's what wins, catching players early, my mate who is a casual did that with about 5 players all season, it's like he could see the damn future haha! Hence him winning my ML, which he has never done before, ever 🙂

Yes. But I think they'll get Benteke. And if Bony moves too, I would strongly consider both (especially if back to swans) and may free up a little money for a better midfield!

Quite sometime since we have seen a good CB pairing among the top teams in the league - it is just one good CB and a mediocre one.

Kompany for City, Smalling for United, Koscielny for Arsenal, Alderweireld for Spurs, and Zouma for Chelsea (assuming Terry won't be around any more). Even further down - it is Williams (Swansea), Funes Mori (Everton) ... Probably Fonte/van Dijk is the first really good partnership we encounter.

I guess that's one of the things stopping them in Europe (among other things, obviously). ...

Yes, probably a bit too harsh on Vertonghen there, he's a very good player, but I feel he does better playing at leftback...

Ferdinand and Vidic and Terry and Carvalho probably the last great ones. At the time you would be hard pressed to find any cb pairings better than those 2

Oh for sure, here in the states they're the highest viewed games in their respective leagues apart from the championship games. They're obviously just exhibitions, but if teams would actually akin to the NBA all-star games in the 90's , I think they'd be great.

We're talking homegrown vs imported players though.

Ben Arfa came from Lyon's legendary academy. Matuidi came from lower league Troyes. Aurier from Lens.

You would think that would be straightforward enough. Don't know though

Yeah - you'd think. I've only checked a couple of sites. Can't combine them as a double either

8/1 Ibra, 10/3 United, looks rubbish odds tbh.

You can get Ibra at 11/1 and United at 7/2 at betbright.

Guarantee you won't find better than that

      Dreaming 😛
Seriously though who's gonna create the goals. You've added one excellent creative midfielder and countered that with a very defensive coach. Utd will be very solid but won't score much imo

Agree, especially now with Mata in the transfer bin. They definitely need a solid midfielder signing to pair with Schneiderlin. Honestly, Matuidi would be a great buy or someone who's a bit more creative. .

Benzema and Higuain chipped in rightly.. there counter attacking was frightening.. don't remember his Chelsea sides struggling for goals too often either come to think of it

Because he had awesome attackers. This is the same utd as last season with the addition of one quality mid and a 35 year old striker. You'll have martial and Rooney as two key attackers. Don't see much goals personally. Yes yea I know martial is quality but has no end product

Champ - he still has awesome attackers in Manchester. As biased I may be, Ibrahimović and Martial alone pose a lot of threat, not to mention that it'sa myth that Mourinho's teams are defensive - in fact, they are usually one of the best scoring teams in the league. It's the end of the season when Mourinho tends to play more defensively, in order to protect the lead in the league. Just like Ranieri did last year. Van Gaal was stubborn and unable to make good use of these undoubtfully fantastic attacking options at his disposal.

that 35 year old striker scored over 50 goals last year.. Mkhi will bring both goals and assists and Martial scored 14 goals for us last season his first in England in a team whose attacking nature was completely nullified by LVG. Rashford chipped in with a fair amount too and will only improve.. one thing we won't struggle for is goals mate i'm sure of that

Fair play lads. Personally I have no idea what to make of a 35 year old ibra taking on the prem for the first time. Won't be surprised if he does well, nor will if he really struggles to shine up top for a utd team with a serious lack of creativity aside from mkhitaryan.

Jonny as for them being high scoring teams, my point is you can't not score lots of goals with the quality midfilders and forward lines he has worked with. He has generally had the best players in the league. He is a very defensive coach tactically. Nothing wrong with that I personally love it. The tactical battles between Rafa and mourinho are some of the best games I've seen.

I found a second Pokemon. It was sat on my desk at work just like the first one. Why is my desk some kind of Pokemon hotspot.

    Maybe a Pokemon dogging site?
