With four Premier League sides – Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Swansea and West Brom – all in action over the next few hours, we roll out a first re-cap of the summer fixtures to date this evening.

Listed below is a match by match breakdown of all the encounters so far, with details of goals, assists and line-ups.

We’ll be publishing a round-up of the latest results tomorrow, while all the pre-season scores, scout notes and form players are being captured and collated in our Pre-Season Section.

Carolina RailHawks 2 West Ham 2

The Hammers’ brief American tour ended in the early hours of this morning with no wins, a couple of goals and a 40-minute bad weather delay as their sights now turn to their UEFA Europa League third qualifying round first leg on July 28.

Skipper Winston Reid (who managed a goal at both ends of the pitch) was teed up for the Hammers’ first by Andy Carroll before the big Geordie put his side ahead thanks to a cross from new wide man Sofiane Feghouli.

Slaven Bilic rang the changes, with nine players swapped from the 46th minute onwards, and the lack of continuity, hot and humid conditions and the threat of further thunderstorms conspired to produce a second-half of little quality or incident – on the pitch, at least.

Although Sam Byram started both matches at right-back, it’s worth noting that Michail Antonio did not fly out for the US tour due to the recent birth of his child.

West Ham XI: Adrian (Spiegel 46), Byram (Makasi 63), Reid (Henry 63), Burke (Rice 63), Cresswell (Page 46), Obiang (Poyet 63), Noble, Feghouli (Quina 63), Samuelsen, Lanzini (Browne 63), Carroll (Martinez 46).

Seattle Sounders 3 West Ham 0

Slaven Bilic used no fewer than 21 players to start the club’s two-match tour of America on July 5, handing debuts to new signings Sofiane Feghouli and Havard Nordtveit, as well as youngsters Antonio Martinez and Domingos Quina.

Former Valencia star Feghouli caught the eye and quickly formed a partnership with another summer signing (from the same Spanish club), Toni Martinez, when the pair came on at half-time. The latter is expected to be eased into English football through the Hammers’ development squad.

In addition to the above-mentioned Antonio, Bilic is having to make do without star midfielder Dmitri Payet and defenders James Collins and Angelo Ogbonna as the trio rest up after their Euro 2016 campaigns. A fourth international, Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph, is likely to leave the club in search of regular first team football, whilst rumoured Sunderland target, Diafra Sakho, stayed behind in London due to a back problem.

West Ham XI: Adrian (Spiegel 46), Byram (Feghouli 46), Page, (Cresswell 46), Reid (Henry 46), Rice (Burke 46), Poyet (Nordtveit 46), Noble (Obiang 46), Browne (Quina 46), Samuelsen (Lanzini 46), Makasi, Carroll (Martinez 46).

Tranmere Rovers 0 Liverpool 1

A second-half strike from Danny Ings earned Liverpool victory in the first of a busy pre-season campaign which will also take in trips to America and Germany.

In a match that took place last Friday, Ings captained a completely changed second-half Liverpool line-up, firing home after good work from Academy player Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Coach Jurgen Klopp handed debuts to new signings Sadio Mane, Joel Matip and Loris Karius in the first period and had to delve deep into the club’s playing resources as a dozen internationals are yet to return to training following Euro 2016 duties.

Liverpool XI: First half: Karius; Flanagan, Matip, Lovren, Smith; Lucas, Brannagan, Ejaria; Kent, Mane, Firmino.

Liverpool XI: Second half: Bogdan, Randall, Ilori, Wisdom, Moreno; Stewart, Chirivella, Alexander-Arnold; Markovic, Woodburn, Ings.

York City 0 Middlesbrough 6

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka was another to field 22 players as his newly-promoted side swept aside York City last Saturday.

Karanka was without new signings Victor Valdes, Bernardo Espinosa and Viktor Fischer and promotion winners Ben Gibson and Grant Leadbitter, but he will have been encouraged by the second-half performance of January capture Jordan Rhodes, who hit two goals in a lively showing.

David Nugent and Adam Reach supplied a goal and assist apiece, whilst wide man Albert Adomah also managed to get his name on the scoresheet.

Middlesbrough XI: First half: Mejias, Nsue, Baptiste, Morris, Husband (Friend 27), Pattisom, Forshaw, Adomah, De Sart, De Pena, Nugent.

Middlesbrough XI: Second half: Konstantopoulos, Halliday, Jackson, McGhee, Friend, Clayton, de Roon, Carayol, Downing, Reach, Rhodes.

Woking 1 Watford 1

New Watford boss Walter Mazzarro tried out a 3-5-2 formation for the Hornets’ first friendly of pre-season on Sunday, shifting to a flat back-four just after the hour mark.

Dutch winger Steven Berghuis opened the scoring midway through the first-half with a deflected strike (courtesy of an Ikechi Anya assist) as Mazzarro tinkered with both formation and personnel, giving new signings Abdoulaye Doucoure, Jerome Sinclair and Isaac Success debuts after the break.

One notable absentee was club captain Troy Deeney, who was left out as a precaution after sustaining a slight knock in training, while Almen Abdi wasn’t involved due to sickness.

Watford XI: Gomes (Arlauskis, HT); Nyom, Britos (Rowan, 85), Hoban (Success, 67); Amrabat (Holebas, 59), Capoue (Guedioura, HT), Suarez (Watson, HT), Berghuis (Doucoure, HT), Anya; Ighalo (Sinclair, HT), Vydra (Oulare, HT).

If it doesn't go live today I think I'll have a breakdown.

I have some meetings ok not looking forward to today and could do with some squad building to take my mind off them.

They probably won't ruin it. They are closing the Ultimate FPL to develop the free-to-play app. They must be investing a lot in this. The app might a paid one.

Showed flashes of brilliance last season, had him for a couple of hauls when ownership was quite low.

Everton need someone running into the box from deep to finish of those Baines & Coleman crosses. Barkley did it a few times, but not enough.

      At 7.0-8.0m he'll be in contention for a 2nd/3rd spot I reckon.

Koeman is chasing both him and Witsel.

Witsel // McCarthy combo could work really well for Everton

He had a flat season but struggled with his ankle injury for 10-12 gameweeks.

He's never been a speedster so I can't see him "slowing" down any more than he is, but his skills and delivery are amazing and I think he'll be right back up there this year. I think 9 - 9.5 and around 180 points.

          Maybe something like this:

          4.5 - 4.5

          10.0 - 9.0 - 7.0 - 6.0 - 4.5
          Kun(13.0) - Ibra(12.0) - 6.0

*I think over the season utd will struggle for goals (in terms of the big 6 obviously).
*I am completely on the fence regarding how successful ibra will be over the season, with age and the premier league on one hand and his amazing talent on the other

I think United have their work cut out this year but I hope they improve enough to warrant a comfortable top 4 finish.
I would never have brought Ibra to the club, not saying he won't get 20 goals but someone like Griezeman would have been nice. I expect Rashford to be used in cups/Europa, Zlat in pl.
l believe in stats and factor them in but don't base decisions on them alone, watching games/MOTD are part of my policy and I make my own choices and stand by them. (PS don't like RMT much and rarely post them myself)

I also don't think Man Utd will score too many. Attacking football is not Jose's style. He sets up as an organised hard to beat team that rarely pulverises teams.

Outscored Barca in 2 of his 3 seasons in La Liga too.. he may be setting his stall out to be first and foremost defensively solid but when his teams attack they really attack lol

Mourinho plays a safe & possession based game in the easier matches and only 'parks the bus' when his team are 2-0 up or playing a rival club.

    Morning all... Coming Soon

What lessons are you taking from past seasons into this new season.

    Mine:
    1. Make sure you have 15 players playing.
    2. Never bring a player in directly after injury, give them 2-3 games at least.
    3. Pre-season means diddly.
    4. Teams under new management often play better than in the past.
    5. Avoid Ashley Young

One thing. I think is particularly important is backing your transfers.

You put so much thought into a transfer and sometimes if it doesn't work on the first gw the automatic reaction is to consider the transfer to fail and make another change.

Yep. If i knew how to make a little poop symbol I would. The ideas are sound but execution not quite there. Very frustrating to have partially-completed teams stuck in the division all year with no trading. Kinda defeats the purpose.

            • 12 Years

Yepp, then there was a really annoying bug that went unfixed whereby you could save an illegal team with 10 or 12 players on the pitch and then not find out until they awarded you with 0 points for the week. Then there was their BS approach to dgws of "if its 14 games or fewer we'll keep it to 1 gw and if it's 15 games or more we'll split it into two separate gameweeks, causing dgw34 to randomly create a 39th gameweek out of nowhere. And they had really poor communication over this decision which was basically a last minute hack job. Poor stuff all round.

That's one of my takeaways as a newbie to Sky FF... The interface is awful!! I didn't like the text only representation of my team, which required me to scroll up and down for just 11 players, and I can't believe how poorly they've done the pitch view!! Shockingly bad.

That said, I took you advice on trimming my defence, and I believe I have a much better team. What are your thoughts?

      Foster
      Cook - Holebas - Keane
      Hazard - KdB - Mane - Tadic - Townsend
      Aguero - Ibrahimovic

      Tadic could also become Ayew/Siggy

        • 12 Years
        10 years, 3 days ago

At first glance it looks good, but I've still not looked into the cheap defences in detail so can't comment on Cook/Holebas/Keane. Foster should be as good and reliable as ever for Pulis saves. Mane is one who I wouldn't touch with a bargepole, Klopp can be a rotation fiend when he wants and you really need 11 players who are going to play start every single game when fit. No bench means you can't mess around with flaky players.

Good man! At this stage it's just a good base to work from. I'll need to get a sense of the starting line-ups before I commit to my cheap defenders. And there's room from soe of those attacking players to change.

Just trying to amuse myself tilL the big one launches.... 😀

Think there is a few highly capable & qualified IT sorts on here. This ones for you.

    1. Will the site need to go into an updating mode before it goes live?
    2. And will that always show?
    3. If it does, how long would you expect a site like FPL needs?
    4. Any other useful insight?

I know about app development and mentioned yesterday that once testing is done and once the developers will have all the necessary details from the client (banner images, content, keywords), Android will take 10-20 hours to go live and iOS will take 3-8 days.

Went ahead and asked a friend..

Depends on the hosting, type of website, etc.. Each site is different..Static sites migrate instantly..Something like FPL..Dynamic websites require the database to be migrated, all system paths to be changed, etc. so depends on the website..If its on a test server already and needs to migrate to an actual server..about 2-3 days..

Once migrated, which would take about a day, everything needs to be tested on the live server again..So now depends on what Mark Rogers meant by testing is over.

Updating mode only happens when everything is updating at the end of the GW so wouldn't have thought so.

Would love it if they've improved the architecture to kill that off to be honest.

It could well be deployed and have a backend switch or even be date time bound to automatically become live but at the same point still could just be a holding page.

Changes are if testing finished yesterday it's more red tape, procedure or even contractural commitments that hold it up rather than any further technical issues.

The Kun/Man U forward rotation seems a no brainer to start with even if itll have an effect on the rest of your team.Anyone thinking of going Rooney instead of Ibra if theres a significant price difference? Tinking of going this way and hoping theres one or two bargains appearing early doors to bring in.

Rooney without penalties seems unappealing. Maybe if he was a cheap midfielder

Mourinhos comments on Rooney as a number 10 has me thinking though. He will most likely play every EPL game when fit aswell.

Could this be the season Rooney is listed as Midfielder?

Definitely on it if this was the case.

If Rooney is a mid I'll be very tempted if the price is right. Jose has always been a big fan and has described him as a 10/9/9.5 so won't be played deep again. Still a very good player, as he proved towards the end of last season.

"There are many jobs on the field. The most difficult to find is one to put the ball in the net," he said. "It is normal that a player at his age will change a little bit.

"One thing that will never change is his natural appetite to put the ball in the net. Maybe he is not a striker, not a No. 9 anymore. But with me he will never be a No. 6, playing 50m from goal.

"Yes, his passing is amazing but mine is also amazing without pressure. Many players have a great pass, but to put the ball in the net is the most difficult. He will be a No. 9, a No. 10, a No. 9.5, but never a No. 6 or a No. 8."

I think it was very likely Rooney would of been a midfielder until Jose's comments tbh... not a hope now

Traditionally you don't see them until 1 week before the start of the season. Daniel will be there 1 minute after kick-off.
