Our series of members’ articles, which review the statistics behind the previous season, now focuses on Liverpool.

First up, we cast an eye over the Reds’ team statistics under new manager Jurgen Klopp and compare them to the rest of Premier League over his period in charge, before delving into the data to assess their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources as we look to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

After steering Liverpool to sixth spot in 2014/15, Brendan Rodgers lasted just eight matches of the following season before parting company with the Merseyside club. The Reds had started brightly enough, winning both their opening fixtures before a run of one victory in the subsequent six – at home to Villa – saw the Irishman replaced by Jurgen Klopp at the helm.

The Reds’ progress to both the Capital One Cup and Europa League finals ultimately proved fruitless and with the German keen to rotate, Liverpool could only manage an eighth-place finish, ending the campaign 21 points behind champions Leicester.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

The great thing is you have 30 (or so?) transfers throughout the whole season so you can just leave the team be for weeks, then check back and make a few transfers and then let it be again... Obviously you'd have the same captain all along but if it's a good player then that's not an issue.... And it would always be just for fun (unlike FPL which is serious).....

In the last 8 weeks I have played football 3 times and every time my right ankle has 'gone'.

I'm either not giving it enough of a break or it is done for good.

Seriously frustrating because I had my heart set on getting the head down and getting myself match fit and giving it all another rattle for a final season or two.

    Crap.

When you brush your teeth, stand on one leg (the weak one!) and you will build up the proprioceptors and ligaments.

I managed to get to the last few minutes the last game before it went even though I could feel it wasn't 100% I could play.

It goes when I try and get some real power into a shot.

Really strange was never injury prone as such but this ankle has been an issue on and off for longer than I'd like.

Everton have been wanting you to leave for ages.

But seriously, just go to a physio - get an appointment. You have to look after it, I have a back issue with golf because I've only started playing it. I use a heatpack before I play to get it warmed up. It works really well, the problem can reduce but if you are the wrong side of 30 the body reacts poorly from now on. YOu have to look after it, stretch plus heatpacks or icepacks

      1. Hibbo
        • 13 Years
        10 years, 2 days ago

32 and I always had fantastic recovery from minor strains or heavy knocks I'd be back playing the next game.

Maybe that is the part that is hard to adjust to.

        1. Bolivian Seaman
          • 15 Years
          10 years, 2 days ago

After 32, that recovery doesnt work very well anymore. it's awful, its even worse when 'your legs go' - you'll know what I mean when they do. All the power just isn't there anymore, and you become breathless very easily. So if I was you I'd play another season. If you want to kick the ball hard, try accelerating your body through the ball a bit better rather than widely swinging.

Had any physio? I actually had a a very bad issue with my right ankle as well a number of years ago (slide tackle, torn ligaments, 4 months out). Returned for the next season and first preseason training went again and lost 2 months. Got into physio a bit more, took it very carefully and doing exercises, haven't had a problem since (aside from the occasional jarred ankle that's a bit sore).

Physio the only real way to go. I've had a heal injury for a couple of years and am getting it sorted out this off-season. Making a huge difference with some basic stuff already.

I see there's a Leko bandwagon developing. Are we sure he is even likely to be a regular? They have just bought Phillips they have McClean, McMenaman, Pulis often uses Berahino wide

Very true, guess he went for the paycheck instead.

China will obviously have to court known players or at least very talented players to raise the profile of the league & in turn get the Chinese people & youth interested/invested.

It'll be interesting to see how this develops long-term, the culture that emerges & what the general populace's reception is.

China loves Football. The main clubs that compete in the Asian CL are always packed out, especially with well-known managers working out there. Quite a few young European players who would normally be sitting on benches, have decided to go to China to get playing time, as well as earn better salaries. If only some English players had the balls to go play in Europe, let alone China, then maybe player develop would increase there too....?

That's good to hear, guess it's already developing well. A lot of money to be made there in a country with the biggest middle class. I hope to see more Chinese youth talent rise up & play in Europe, & more top-tier youth academies in China.

I'm sure there's a lot of English talent that could use that experience. Certainly not a problem with other top leagues though.

I've completed one part of my advantages of a gameweek 4 article which is all about how Zlatan Ibrahimovic can be accommodated up until the wildcard.
I hope to have this article published to the Fantasy Football Scott community.

Evening gents, sorry, haven't been around much today, so apologies on a question I'm guessing has been asked 686,127 times already but where did the "not until next week" update come from?

What does this mean? A bit complicated...
Aids in achieving healthy weight. High-fiber foods tend to be more filling than low-fiber foods, so you're likely to eat less and stay satisfied longer. And high-fiber foods tend to take longer to eat and to be less "energy dense," which means they have fewer calories for the same volume of food.

It means that all food is equal but some is more equal than others. But seriously the more you put in the more you put on. If food companies were required to tell you how far you need to walk to counter the calorific content of their products then I think you'd see more people making better choices more often. That said, there's always room for a Mars bar. Everything in moderation except for moderation

Juve are shaping to be favorites for a top 4 spot in the CL at this rate imo. What a squad.

Just to post a more reliable source: http://gianlucadimarzio.com/news-cat/juventus-higuain-ce-lok-del-giocatore-presto-un-contatto-col-napoli/

Or two of ya's. City, arsenal, pool top 4. That leaves one spot for spuds, chelski, wancs and the mighty leicester

I'm pretty sure ManUtd will finish in the top 4, maybe Arsenal won't.

Arsenal and city I feel most sure of. Rest is a clusterfuk. Got a feeling about pool though. Not biased at all 😛

            My top 4 prediction is:
            1. Man City
            2. Man Utd
            3. Chelsea
            4. Liverpool/Arsenal

Mourinho, Guardiola, Klopp and Conte all being experts at winning big games, I think Arsenal will barely get any points from the 8 games against these teams.

Really fancy Liverpool this year with no Europa league. Would fancy them for top 4 and a cup.

    1) Man Utd
    2) Liverpool
    3) Man City
    4) Chelsea
    5) Spurs
    6) Everton
    7) Arsenal

Think Pep may be in for a rude awakening in the most competitive league. May fare better in CL though.

Fancy Jose to do the business from the off and win a title, even with Europa which he is on record as deriding.

Koeman to have a third consecutive 6th place!
