We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Southampton.

To get underway, we assess the Saints’ team statistics in Ronald Koeman’s final year in charge and compare them to the rest of Premier League, before analysing their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

The Saints finished in sixth position after embarking on a superb run of form that harvested seven wins and a draw in the final nine league fixtures.

    Ayew or Siggy?

    Ayew - possible OOP, no football over the summer, likes a shot

    Siggy - set pieces, possibly pens, has been FPL gold, but played in the Euros

    Plan to offload after GW2 (though keeping not the worst thing if I needed to)

          12 days of pre season after a 4 week holiday is nowhere near enough to start a PL game imo.

            Morgan had virtually no pre season last year and started GW1, Sanchez got back about a week before and came on as sub.
            That's even if Swansea gives 4 weeks holiday like Arsenal.

    Anyone else looking to rotate a SOT defender for their home games in GW1, 3 and 5? (WAT, SUN and SWA).

    Thinking of rotating VvD. Been told its a bold strategy but I can see it paying off to invest in those games.

          Sakho refused to go on pre-season tour and Valencia (a player I do rate) has generally been used out wide

          So seems for now like no.9 is Carrolls.... rumours of a move for a striker could change this but he's in my team for now
