Up next in our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, are Tottenham.

We kick start our analysis by assessing the north London outfit’s team statistics in Mauricio Pochettino’s second season in charge and compare them to the rest of the Premier League. After that, we then take a close look at their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources with one eye on the season kick-off in just three weeks’ time.

Pochettino’s side finished third last time around, 11 points behind champions Leicester and one point behind north London rivals Arsenal.

That fails to tell the full story, though, as Spurs were still in with a chance of winning the title right up until their Gameweek 36 trip to Chelsea, where a 2-2 draw at the Bridge, which saw the visitors pick up nine yellow cards, handed the crown to Claudio Ranieri’s men.

Subsequent losses to Southampton and relegated Newcastle – a 5-1 hammering at St James’ – meant their season ended in bitter disappointment, with the Gunners climbing above them to clinch the runners-up slot on the final day of 2015/16.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Any good picks from the Chelsea 7.5 mids from GW1?

Prefer Willian but unsure if he, Oscar or Pedro will start. Fabregas most likely but my least favourite of the bunch.

Or just go straight for Costa/Bats a save a bit elsewhere

    Hey all,

Draft 1.0 here. Barely around so not sure whats the trend and template is. But I'll give it a shot?

    Foster - Heaton
    Shaw - FunesMori - Kone - Souare - Wilson
    Hazard - Coutinho - Ayew - Mirallas - 4.5m
    Kun - Ibra - Austin

    Thoughts?

Austin a rotation risk? what strategy will you stick with throughout the season, 3-4-3? if yes maybe go for Negredo

3-4-3 for now. I dont have problem with going 3-5-2 if I have to, but there's plenty of good mid priced forward this year it seems.

Is Austin rotation risk? Isnt he Southampton's only no 9?

    Right after some tinkling here it is;
    RMT
    Foster (Heaton)
    C Dawson--Naylor--Morgan (Shaw, Friend)
    Mhikitaryan--Ayew--Mirallas--Mahrez (Hojbjerg)
    Aguero--Costa--Austin

Koeman always favours wingbacks. A better defensive showing under Koeman and set-piece responsibilities should see him racking up those points. If you have the funds, go for him

    Foster - 4.0

Friend, VvD, Funes Mori, (Evans, 4.0)

    Barkley, Mahrez, Ayew, KDB (4.5)

    Long, Aguero, Lukaku

    Downgrade a mid/fwd to upgrade 4.0 defender?

Other than the tripling up on Everton (which makes sense given your Username) no need to upgrade your 4.0 defender. Though Funes Mori isnt nailed on, is he?

    Courtois
    Dann Coleman Shaw Friend
    Alli Hazard Ayew Bolasie

Carroll may well become Negredo Gray or Wilson and Rooney to Lukaku could well happen but think I like the rest

Thoughts about this team for the first 3GWs:
    Foster/Jaku
    Shaw/Walker/Azpi/Friend/Paredes
    Eriksen/Fab/Ayew/Drinkw/Leko
    Kun/Zlatan/Negredo

Will most likely WC after GW3.

Nice in general, but I'd downgrade a mid to 6.5/6.0 and get a few better defenders. The extra 0.5/1.0 per top defender makes it worthwhile imo

Oooo first RMT of the season! Here goes...

    Foster Valdez
    Shaw Fernandez Wollscheid Kone 4.0
    Hazard KDB Mahrez Mirallas 4.5
    Kun Gray Negredo

Re-thinking KDB-Kun double up given the realization that City might only have 2 more pre-season friendlies before start of the season!

Could mean a Spurs/Liverpool mid in place of KDB and bank some cash + spread in defence a little (namely Azpi).

I dunno about the Chelsea attack...

The points could be spread amongst the attackers. Or the points could all go to one player and we pick the wrong one. Or they could set up defensively and not score many. Seems best to wait and see than spend large chunks of our budget on a lottery ticket, especially when there are such strong alternatives in the same price brackets.

Does anyone feel strongly about one particular Chelsea attacker? Is Batshuayi the one?

Has Gradel played any preseason games for Bournemouth? my 5.5 mid spot is now vacant since Bruce left Hull(Snodgrass was all but set in my team 🙁 ) .. Considering the price they paid for Ibe and his obvious potential he looks a standout option too

Gradel is my 5.5 mid but I might go with a GW1 punt in Yaya and then downgrade to him after the United game.

ah.. was wondering why i dint see his name in recent matches 🙂 .. he seems the best pick at 5.5 but so does ibe. i was all for snoddy because it lets me get Wilson upfront who looks the best bet among the cheap attackers(though Gray, Long, Negredo, Deeney(poor fixtures) are not far behind)

Yep I'm thinking along the same lines.
Fischer is another I'm considering purely for fixtures but Karanka doesn't like his Boro team to attack much.. Feghouli might come in after I see him play once or twice too.
Redmond for 6.0m could be a decent bargain too.. Bojan at 6.0m as well..

I'll probably start with Yaya though and downgrade to Gradel in GW2 for a double up with Wilson.

    Mhki vs mahrez?

    A) Firmino & Fischer
    B) Coutinho & Redmond

Can't make my mind up on this one. Comes down to whether Firmino is worth the extra 0.5 over Coutinho, and who is more nailed out of Redmond & Fischer. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys 🙂

How were Ayew's performance playing up front last season ? I don't remember how many games he played that way or the goals he scored. If anyone could help ?

I am on the Ayew/Siggy dilemma.
