Dugout Discussion – Man City vs Sunderland

13 August 2016 4436 comments
Mark Mark
Share:

Attentions now turn to the Etihad where Pep Guardiola makes his Premier League bow.

David Moyes’ Sunderland are the guests and potential party poopers, although the odds do seem stacked against them.

The Black Cats are in transition under their new manager, while City boast such attacking riches there can be no doubt that they head into today’s clash as overwhelming favourites.

Expectant Fantasy managers will be looking to Sergio Aguero to capitlise – the Argentine heads into the teatime kick-off as the most popular captain choice in the Gameweek and with over 40% ownership.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

It was a back 3 with Baines as a wingback. Put a few decent balls in first half. Almost never takes his man on any more though. If he runs forward, he nearly always cuts inside. Didn't get forward much in the second half although Spurs were pushing Everton back. Didn't take any corners or free kicks. I'm not sure he's actually worth the 5.5 if that's what you're wondering.

Made some really bad decisions which has given me a terrible start.

Went Mahrez over Vardy because I thought he had penalties. Decided to go Gray over Negredo because I thought Swansea would get smashed. Benched Foster and Capoue and I decided not to captain Kun, went with Vardy instead. 🙁

    Positives - Sterling and Redmond.

Hope everyone had a good week.

      Calm.

I don't see any of those as bad choices. Ramirez was never a pick, Fischer was the smart choice.

Vardy, meh, I never fancied him but again that wasn't your fault.

Negredo looked a good option but so do Gray, Carroll.

Eriksen a better pick than Lamela (And I have Lamela!)

With his form in pre-season and goal today, along with playing very well all game is Capoue a possible 4th midfielder rather than bench fodder 5th?

Feels like he may be a classic underpriced player that makes people then avoid playing him with confidence.

Any thoughts on this? I myself have not seen the match or know much about Watford so thoughts would be helpful.

He's been playing further forward under the new manager, whose name escapes me.

Not sure what his career stats are but they probably don't suggest he's a mid whose going to get you 10 goals a season.

I have him but, at this stage anyway, it's unlikely he comes off my bench most of the season.

Jump on now of your 5th mid doesn't cut the mustard. At 4.5M better to have the points on the bench than 5.5M with no returns.

I have Ramirez as 5th Mid....switched out Capoue last minute on the basis Redmond / Ramirez could rotate. You'll be happy to see that 4.5 turn into 5.2M and a blank for the CL / FA cup or vase players.

Yes. If you don't mind posting your email address here, I can send the code.

I don't want to post the code on here. Jonty put it on here two years ago (without me agreeing to it) and I got loads of entrants that I didn't want!

cpwindsor@sky.com . An 87 birth date would be about 25 years off!
      Many thanks.
