We were dressed for success, but success it never comes.

Suited and booted, we crown the new season riding a wave of giddy optimism. The positivity flows on the eve of a new campaign which, on paper, looks destined to be one of the best in memory.

Granville makes a belated return to ScoutCast action to join Jonty, Andy and myself as we start to sift the seemingly endless array of options open to us on the new season player list.

It’s bewildering stuff but, guided by you, the community, we attempt to navigate all your pre-season questions before laying our own cards on the table.

It’s amazing to be back amongst it again. Let’s just hope the smiles stay as wide for the next episode.

      Personally I'm going without any of them. Beyond Ibra (who carries a certain amount of safety) I don't think the others are as good as other picks from other teams.

    Working late tonight as I'm covering for someone. Has left me pondering Vardy v Kane for an unhealthily long time....

        I *could* start with Vardy and switch to Kane in GW2. Not convinced it's worth pre-booking the transfer though.

      I'm going with Vardy and covering Spurs in the midfield. But I have a plan to switch from Vardy to Kane if Kane starts firing early. But that's not going to happen as early as GW2 - not with Vardy facing a dodgy Arsenal back line, then Swans at home, then a dodgy Pool back line, and then Burnley at home.

      There's a lot of potential in Fischer but you should also be considering Ramirez. Pretty much everything went through him in the second half of last season.

    Considering a Vardy(c) if I'm honest. Bit worried about Aguero's minutes with the UCL game. What do you guys think? I'm trying to minimize risk but also be a little gutsy in GW 1.

      Not crazy, just extremely risky. If Aguero blanks (which isn't impossible) you'd have an edge on a lot of people.

      Of course if he gets a few goals (which is very possible) you're left stranded up a particularly nasty creek.

      Yes, crazy.
      You could have just asked "Tadic captaincy crazy?" and the answer would still be the same. If you are going for someone other than Aguero, there's Vardy, Mahrez, Firmino and Hazard.

    Played the most minutes of any 4.0m option last year. I personally prefer Brad Smith as a 4.0m option.
