Sadio Mane goes into Liverpool’s trip to Burnley as a doubt following a shoulder injury in training. Arsene Wenger will be without both Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi for the trip to Leicester City, while Mark Hughes confirms that Jack Butland won’t be risked against Manchester City. Here’s a summary of the known teams news so far…

Ryan Bertrand remainssidelined for Southampton’s trip to Old Trafford this evening due to an ongoing knee complaint. Claude Puel has confirmed that Jose Fonte is in contention to start after stepping up his fitness in training this week.

Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) and Alex Iwobi (thigh) have been ruled out until after the international break after they were forced off injured against Liverpool last weekend. Arsene Wenger has conceded he may have to gamble on the fitness of Laurent Koscielny, Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud, though won’t start all three. The Gunners boss revealed that Koscielny is the likeliest of the trio to feature in his first XI.

Eddie Howe has confirmed he has “no major concerns” on the injury front as Bournemouth make their way to West Ham on Sunday.

Club record signing Steven Defour could be in line for a start at home to Liverpool, reckons Sean Dyche. Ashley Barnes remains sidelined due to a hamstring injury, whilst the on-loan Jon Flanagan cannot face his parent club.

Mark Hughes has this morning ruled Jack Butland out of a return against Manchester City, whilst Glen Johnson also remains sidelined with a thigh complaint. Shaqiri is also a concern after suffeirng a calf problem in the 1-1- draw with Middlesbrough on the opening day.

Alan Pardew has also updated us this morning with news that both Joe Ledley and Wayne Hennessey are “fitness concerns” ahead of the trip to White Hart Lane. The Eagles boss also indicated that Yohan Cabaye, Jordon Mutch, and James McArthur would likely travel having missed the season opener with West Brom.

Chris Smalling and Paul Pogba are back in contention after serving out one-match suspensions, though Jose Mourinho has admitted that the latter is unable to play 90 minutes due to a lack of match fitness. Jesse Lingard is also available after recovering from a foot problem.

Hugo Lloris is sidelined with a hamstring injury as Spurs welcome Palace to the Lane. Mousa Dembele sits out the fourth of a six-match ban, whilst Heung Min Son has returned from the Olympics and will be assessed.

Sadio Mane remains doubtful for Liverpool’s trip to Burnley with a shoulder injury sustained in training. James Milner and Daniel Sturridge are back in full training, whilst Lucas also has a chance of making it. Mamadou Sakho has stepped up his recovery but is expected to miss out again.

Ronald Koeman will make a late decision on Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Williams’ fitness for Everton’s trip to the Hawthorns. The Belgian returned to full training yesterday without any problems, whilst Williams has stepped up his match fitness over the past week. Seamus Coleman remains absent, though Yannick Bolasie is in line for a debut.

Swansea’s record signing Borja Baston is sidelined with a minor thigh problem. Neil Taylor is likely to miss out again as he builds up his fitness, whilst Leon Britton (illness) is doubtful. Ki Sung-yeung is back in contention to face Hull, with Francesco Guidolin hinting at a start for Gylfi Sigurdsson.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

My reasons for captaining Firmino this week are based on a few things that I think at this stage are quite logical and safe (somewhat).

    1) We have proof that Liverpool can demolish teams on the road. Back to back away fixtures deterred many from Liverpool attackers, but now that we know they can demolish teams (as seen by last week's 4-3 victory over Arsenal), we know what they are capable of going to Burnley.

    2) Burnley are playing another home game, and while the game was close against Swansea, the defensive stats simply do not bode well for a team coming up against this Liverpool side next.

    3) Firmino was heavily involved in a lot of Liverpool's play and despite not grabbing any returns, the odds of him being involved in any goals scored quite high according to the stats.

    4) While Aguero is in super form, we've no idea if Man City have improved on the road in the PL and Stoke have been a thorn in their side for years now. They could frustrate Man City, and if they manage to find a way through it could be a low score for Aguero. So while Firmino might be viewed by many as a risk, I see the threat of Aguero scoring a haul this week lower than usual, allowing me to go a bit maverick. I don't fancy the cursed early game either.

    5) Hazard/ Costa is my other choice, and while the temptation is there to (c) them against a shaky-looking Watford, again, I have no insight as to how Chelsea will play on the road as their last fixture was a home game.

Against Steaua though? Hardly a real comparison...

And I expect Man City to perform better in Europe under Pep's style than in the league (to begin with at least)

I agree too. A lot of pundits have said Man City may struggle in the league away from home to start with. We'll see

This is exactly the type of fixture that Liverpool struggle in though.

A defence isn't based solely on its keeper, otherwise United, Chelsea and City wouldn't have conceded last weekend.

I think the 4 players in front of Given are good enough at home to frustrate them.

I'd be more worried about someone like De Bruyne or Nolito getting on the scoresheet, guys that will take a shot from distance or hit a dangerous freekick.

Aguero scoring depends on him getting behind the back 4 quickly and staying onside as I think Stoke will sit quite deep in this game.

I have Aguero, Firmino and Ibra, so whoever I end up choosing the damage should be minimal if I pick the wrong one.

    Foster (Jaku)
    Azpi, Walker, Amat (Kone, Friend)
    Hazard, Coutinho, Lamela, Redmond (Capoue)
    Aguero (c), Ibra (vc), Llorente

Should I go Carroll or Llorente.

Should I use the 0.5 to:

    (c) keep the 0.5

“Just because you pay the players good money doesn’t mean that they must be ready. Harry Kane, for example – he has no holiday, no holiday, no holiday. He plays in the under-21s [European Championship] last summer and then the Euros. He is not a machine. It is important to be clear when the time is to compete and when the time is to rest. In the NBA and the NFL, for example, it is four months’ competition and then holiday. And they receive more money than our players.”

Think Poch is a bit off about the NBA. Regular season is 82 games in 6 months (often playing 16/17 games a month) with that extending to another possible 21 games by June if you're good enough to reach the Finals.

Yes the NFL is much shorter but there's no point complaining about the money unless you want to see football/soccer become as overly commercialised and broken up by unabating ads as American football is. And that's coming from a fan of the game.

If Ibra scores today Vardy > Ibra is the obvious move with me needing to scrape up another 1m (and this move would happen today without knowing how the rest of the gameweek goes).

    A) Sanchez > Hazard

True, he was underperforming last season, could be better this year.

Van Dijk is a luxury player I have as a 3rd +5m defender, so I'm currently on transfering him out. At the same time his next fixture is pretty tasty and Hazard's penalties are difficult to ignore, unfortunately Arsenal's fixtures after Leicester are difficult to ignore as well :/ I've got a couple more hours to decide though 🙂

Yeah I need to know same info!

      Current Team:-
      Foster (Jaku)
      Valencia, Stones, Amat (Kone, Friend)
      Mahrez, Hazard, Townesend, Feghouli, (Redmond)
      Kun, Kane, Gray

I don't know whether to do Feghouli > Capoue to enable me to transfer out Kane for Ibra GW3 if Kane blanks against Palace!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😉

I'm thinking to do Feghouli > Ramirez (nice fixtures only big question mark about Boro away form) or Snodgrass (but tough fixtures). I'm also worry it about possible price drop.

I'm currently debating between Aguero and Hazard captain for my team. I genuinely believe Hazard has more points potential vs Watford than Aguero does vs a traditionally tight Stoke team. Only reason I'm currently on Aguero is because of high the captaincy poll is in his favour.

Having the same dilemma here 🙂
Hazard looked very good against West Ham but so many people will captain Aguero. He will also be more tired due to midweek fixtures...

    Aguero/Ibrah/Gray

    A. Stick , save FT
