Saturday’s events has proved the catalyst for a number of key changes in the Watchlist, most notably in midfield.

Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to sacrifice Dele Alli for the home clash with Crystal Palace has seen him topple from the reckoning. With Christian Eriksen giving way to Alli on 68 minutes, Erik Lamela enjoys a climb in the Watchlist as our current preferred target in the Spurs midfield. Given Harry Kane’s decline as attacking cover, this finds Lamela rank fifth in a significant rise for the Argentine.

It is Everton’s Ross Barkley that enjoys the most significant ascent.

We would normally remain cautious on Barkley’s potential but the current Fantasy landscape compounds the appeal of the Toffees playmaker.

Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are absorbing big funds in attack, resulting in midfield options in and around the 7.5 Fantasy Premier League bracket becoming key targets.

Barkley has started the season with a goal and an assist and should have come away from the Hawthorns with a second strike of the season after planting a close-range header wide of Ben Foster’s goal.

Everton and Barkley have made a confident start under Ronald Koeman and their fixtures are just exceptional.

Stoke, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace present winnable Goodison encounters, whilst the Toffees will also travel to Sunderland, Bournemouth and Burnley in their next seven.

With the Romelu Lukaku option priced out by the Aguero/Ibraimovic pairing, it is clear that Barkley is the key draw. He is a factor on set-pieces and is currently presumed to be Koeman’s designated penalty taker having scored in pre-season with Lukaku and Baines on the pitch.

Both Kevin Mirallas and Yannick Bolasie offer cheaper alternatives. Mirallas has also started the season strongly and plays his part at set-pieces, but his security of start is called into question now that Bolasie is an option to Koeman, with Gerard Deulofeu also in the mix. Barkley looks set to remain a constant with the pitch time of that trio is currently difficult to predict.

Bolasie at just 6.0 in the FPL is, nonetheless, set to be an intriguing option. If he earns regular starts as expected, we will need to monitor his output and underlying numbers in comparison to his displays at Palace. Koeman is certainly pledging to get more goals and assists from his big money signing.

Elsewhere, Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and the returning Dimitri Payet look strong as midfield big-hitters, but Barkley has the potential to keep pace with them if he can maintain his form over his most obliging run of opponents.

Lower down the rankings, Andros Townsend’s stock is also boosted by strong fixtures. The arrival of Christian Benteke now offers the alternative in the Palace ranks and it’s arguable whether this dents Townsend’s appeal given that his supply now has a target.

Nathan Redmond holds his high rank despite a run of testing opponents to come – St Mary’s meetings with Sunderland, Swansea and Burnley still offer potential profit.

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne currently remain on the periphery – again impact of the Aguero/Ibrhimovic pairing is limiting their popularity, at least until they begin to provide evidence that they can justify their lofty price tags.

Sanchez certainly has the fixtures to thrive, although he currently seems to be struggling having been charged with the central striker role by Arsene Wenger.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is Capoue the real deal? I won't call him "this year's Mahrez" just yet, but so far he's brought 18 points to my bench. So do I keep the points there or do I have to start him?

I think I can safely say he will not be this years Mahrez. More of a George Boyd IMO, (not in terms of similar playing style). He will pitch up with points now and again but I would still rank him as a 5th mid, or drop another mid to a budget to free up funds and play him every week in a 3-4-3. I wouldn't expect the goals to continue. It reminds me of the Marlon Harewood bandwagon from Blackpool first 2 games years ago

Too expensive for me at the moment with ibra and aguero. The supply line is a lot cheaper and should get you decent points if he does deliver. He loves to wind you up also, will have plum fixtures and turn into emile heskey

Yeah, that's the issue with Lukaku.

Barkley did take a pen with Lukaku on the pitch in pre-season. May not mean anything, however.

Is Barklay one of those players that starts off well and then disappears without trace? Always struck me as an inconsistent sort-fixtures or no fixtures.

Best midpark combo: Redmond, Mahrez, Hazard, Capooey and one from Townsend, Tadic, Barclay et al.

    1. Kazza_

    3. @persecuted_by_mods
      10 years, 1 month ago

He's basically the coutinho of Everton in terms of points scoring, wildly inconsistent and will probably score vs Chelsea, Man Utd and Man city but blank against the easier sides. That said I have just got him in, hopefully this year he can kick on

True. But Swans didn't look good yesterday, and Mahrez look decent particularly in second half. 😕

Maybe hold then or take out Lamela and gamble he does nothing against Liverpool.

                  What does your head say?

      Mahrez > Barkley
      Long > lukaku/giroud
Should probs stick with Ramirez until he gets rotated

Cheers, my another concern is no Redmond also. Shame Long has disappointed big time also might lose his place to Austin..

Mahrez to Ross and money left to upgrade Ramirez to your liking

Just seen that Kun pen goal. Wish refs had balls to give pens more often for pulling shirt etc. inside the box.

Wait til you see the "foul" of Stoke's pen 😆

Bolasie could be worth a try

SNodgrass maybe? But I am thinking of removing him for a hit :p...Look below

    Hello People!

    Who should be brought in?

    1) Firmino/Coutinho (tot LEI che)-->Barkley (STO sun MID)
    2) Firmino/Coutinho-->Tadic (SUN ars SWA)
    3) Firmino/Coutinho-->Redmond(SUN ars SWA)
    4) Firmino/Coutinho + Snodgrass--> Barkley + Redmond (-4)

Currently tied on funds and these are the only ways to get Eve/Soton cover

    1. Moore FPL
      10 years, 1 month ago

Definitely not 4 for a hit.
I'd get Barkley if it was me.

        For whom?

        Cout or Firmino?

        1. Moore FPL
          10 years, 1 month ago

Flip a coin :-). I'd get rid of Coutinho

Tadic or Barkley look good. How's the season started?

Barkley looks good but for which of Cout/Firmino?

Not bad! Currently at 200k so pretty happy as always start with a million rank in first few GWs...

I'm not a fan of cout so would get rid of him. Season is ok, around 500k but going vardy over zlatan has hurt.

Got 2ft, how does Sanchez vardy eriksen to haz zlatan Barkley -4 look?

          1. HNI
            10 years, 1 month ago

Vardy must have hurt...I dunno how people though he was worth that much price...I dint start with even 1 LEI player! Keep Sanchez imo...With Ozil back sanchez will look threatening...
Can you afford Vardy + Eriksen-->Zlat + Barkley?

Also you think Snoddy is worth keeping or bring in Redmond for a hit?

I think the hull game looked too good and expecting him on pens. In hindsight it wasn't a good move! Sanchez looked terrible yesterday. I can't afford that unfort.

I would def keep snoddy. Looks the best 5.5m option

              1. HNI
                10 years, 1 month ago

wat sot hull in next 3 for Arsenal....Remember we only good in fpl because we keep patience 😉

                Keep Sanchez...

So Coutinho-->Barkley looks best free move for me right?

Yep looks good, would do that move. Do you have hazard? Looks much better option than Sanchez just now and can't have both and aguero zlatan

Quite happy with my start but looking to ditch Alli and probably Firmino with my 2 FT's

    Heaton Jakupovic
    Shaw Stones McCauley Friend Amat
    Haz Alli Firmino Ramirez Capoue
    Kun Ibra Gray

    I'm thinking:
Martial/Payet (depending on how well Payet does today)
And then Delefeo or Lamela (not sure who has greater security of starts and can't quite do Barkley)

    1. HNI
      10 years, 1 month ago

Alli + Firmino-->Barkley + Payet?? If payet expensive, how about Tadic

Can you help me above bro?

0.1 too much unfortunately. Not sure about Saints fixtures.

Telegraph FF: Firmino to Payet or Barkley? Payet has an extra gameweek too as he plays Bournemouth later

    1. Moore FPL
      10 years, 1 month ago

Good shout, I may do Firmino & Ali to Payet & Barkley
In your position I'd get Payet

Haha I know what u mean! Extra fixture for Payet could be good though. If you're not gonna get him today, I'd maybe go Barkley as Hammers have City next week.

mark - if watch list is updated why is mahrez top - he looked good but leicester dont look great?

is it just becos they have home fixture to tight Swans?

and payet 2nd away to man city??

Surely hazard home to Burnley is better than those two or even barkley give his run
