Saturday’s events has proved the catalyst for a number of key changes in the Watchlist, most notably in midfield.

Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to sacrifice Dele Alli for the home clash with Crystal Palace has seen him topple from the reckoning. With Christian Eriksen giving way to Alli on 68 minutes, Erik Lamela enjoys a climb in the Watchlist as our current preferred target in the Spurs midfield. Given Harry Kane’s decline as attacking cover, this finds Lamela rank fifth in a significant rise for the Argentine.

It is Everton’s Ross Barkley that enjoys the most significant ascent.

We would normally remain cautious on Barkley’s potential but the current Fantasy landscape compounds the appeal of the Toffees playmaker.

Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are absorbing big funds in attack, resulting in midfield options in and around the 7.5 Fantasy Premier League bracket becoming key targets.

Barkley has started the season with a goal and an assist and should have come away from the Hawthorns with a second strike of the season after planting a close-range header wide of Ben Foster’s goal.

Everton and Barkley have made a confident start under Ronald Koeman and their fixtures are just exceptional.

Stoke, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace present winnable Goodison encounters, whilst the Toffees will also travel to Sunderland, Bournemouth and Burnley in their next seven.

With the Romelu Lukaku option priced out by the Aguero/Ibraimovic pairing, it is clear that Barkley is the key draw. He is a factor on set-pieces and is currently presumed to be Koeman’s designated penalty taker having scored in pre-season with Lukaku and Baines on the pitch.

Both Kevin Mirallas and Yannick Bolasie offer cheaper alternatives. Mirallas has also started the season strongly and plays his part at set-pieces, but his security of start is called into question now that Bolasie is an option to Koeman, with Gerard Deulofeu also in the mix. Barkley looks set to remain a constant with the pitch time of that trio is currently difficult to predict.

Bolasie at just 6.0 in the FPL is, nonetheless, set to be an intriguing option. If he earns regular starts as expected, we will need to monitor his output and underlying numbers in comparison to his displays at Palace. Koeman is certainly pledging to get more goals and assists from his big money signing.

Elsewhere, Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and the returning Dimitri Payet look strong as midfield big-hitters, but Barkley has the potential to keep pace with them if he can maintain his form over his most obliging run of opponents.

Lower down the rankings, Andros Townsend’s stock is also boosted by strong fixtures. The arrival of Christian Benteke now offers the alternative in the Palace ranks and it’s arguable whether this dents Townsend’s appeal given that his supply now has a target.

Nathan Redmond holds his high rank despite a run of testing opponents to come – St Mary’s meetings with Sunderland, Swansea and Burnley still offer potential profit.

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne currently remain on the periphery – again impact of the Aguero/Ibrhimovic pairing is limiting their popularity, at least until they begin to provide evidence that they can justify their lofty price tags.

Sanchez certainly has the fixtures to thrive, although he currently seems to be struggling having been charged with the central striker role by Arsene Wenger.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Foster
    Shaw Stones Soare
    Hazard Tadic Redmond Ramirez
    Aguero Zlatan Vardy

    Jaku Capoue Friend Amat

    2 FT, 0.0 ITB

Had been planning on Tadic and Vardy- Ozil and Benteke but now I've already missed their price drops, no real rush with good fixtures this weekend.

Stones to Walker or Baines had been in my head with the 0.5 I would save but now I have lost this option with the price drops would Stones to Williams be a good move?

    Suggestions? Opinions on team?

Hi guys, Currently have 2 FT, what's my best move ?

    Foster - Jaku
    Valencia - Stones - VVD - Friend - Amat
    Hazard - Firmino - Lamela - Redmond - Capoue
    Aguero - Ibra - Gray

    A) Firmino > Barkley

    B) Firmino & Gray > Barkley & Benteke

    C) Something else (If so what?)

Keep this or wildcard? Would take a -4. Doing Carroll>Benteke if he is said to start. I'm also skeptical about Firmino. Can see him being dropped if Origi performs well midweek.

    Foster
    Stones Souare Friend
    Hazard Firmino Barkley Redmond
    Aguero (v) Ibrahimovic (C) Benteke

    Bench: Heaton, Evans, Amat, Capoue

I reckon UTD - Pogba and Sideshow bob in a double piviot is, if nothing else two really big bodies to try and get past.

I hate to say it but you can start to see Jose impact already, I think old trafford will be a much harder place to go to this year.

This season there are a lot of options. As midfields as forwards. So in my opinion, have aguero (13) is a error. We just should have aguero in gws With easy game to City, and that everyone have him for capitain. With ibra + Kun, ia impossible to have a top midfields as ozil, mahez, alexis, Hazard etc.
This is my opinion and so next 2 gws i will go With:

    Mahez Hazard redmond barkley Coutinho
    Ibra Costa

So both Arsenal and Everton look to have great fixtures coming up. On that basis, and with 2 FT's...

    A) Firmino to Barkley and keep a FT and cash in the bank for international break

    B) Downgrade a defender (likely Fuchs) and swap Firmino to Ozil/Payet?

    C) Give Firmino another chance and save the 2 FT's

    Team is:
    Foster / Jak
    Shaw / Stones / Fuchs / Amat / Friend
    Hazard / Lamela / Firmino / Redmond / Capoue
    Kun / Zlatan / Gray

"Every season u ignore the double pivot mids n name them "casual" picks ie yaya/Ramsey/Barkley et al."

Yaya and Ramsey was actually in the same season, it was quite freakish really. Barkley plays in the hole/AM. Et al is actually no one because there haven't been any other great pivot picks.

Pogba has the pedigree to be a great fpl pick but far too early to tell imo. One for the watchlist. Certainly wouldn't be backing him in over cheaper guys like Redmond, Lamela, Barkley etc.

Guardiola's defensive record is very good. Will hopefully just be a case of it taking time for the players to adapt to the system. Although different leagues and players etc. is always a caveat.

    Afternoon all. 😀

Looking to replace Alli. Shortlisted Barkley and Bolasie.

Barkley is the obvious choice but that would mean I can't do Gray ➡ Lukaku if needed.

I really think Lukaku is the player to get from the Everton attack with those fixtures. He did well last season during the kind run of fixtures he had.

So, get the in form man Barkley or look further ahead and get Bolasie in case Lukaku is needed later?

P.S. - Could get Bojan instead of Bolasie to avoid double Everton attack.

    Thoughts please?

        Eyeing up Ozil here.

Bolasie allows me Sanchez as well if he hits form.

Damn, as expected FPL aren't making it possible to sort players by ICT stats in a given game week. Really disappointed as it was one of the most useful things for me about being a member here, weekends like this one where i've been too busy to watch the football it really came in handy.

It would involve a Palace double up for me. Not sure I can bring myself to double up on the worst attacking side in the league.

Costa to benteke and a cool 2.1 million in the bank for me for GW 4. My heart can oly take so much anxiety.. And owning Costa is pushing me over the edge!

    Courtois, Jakupovic
    Shaw, Mori, Holebas, Friend, Evans
    Martial, Hazard, Nolito, Firmino, Gradel
    Aguero, Wilson, Diomande

2 FTs, should probably get Ibra, but not sure how. Is it really worth downgrading Martial?

Yes or you can downgrade Firmino and holebas for a -4

        No I can't. Holebas is 4.5.

Barkley "is a factor on set-pieces and is currently presumed to be Koeman’s designated penalty taker having scored in pre-season with Lukaku and Baines on the pitch."

Didn't he miss that penalty in pre-season?

I thought that Lukaku would be on pens, but maybe I'm wrong..

    Which transfer is better move?
    A. Vardy + Bojan + Van Dijk --> Ibrahimovic + Ramirez + Williams (-4 hits)

    B. Vardy + Van Dijk --> Ibrahimovic + 4.5m def (free transfer)
    1. McAuley (I have Foster)
    2. Evans
    3. Targett
    4. Holding

B is the better option as your essentially proposing to take a 4pt hit to accommodate a better defender. I assume the primary goal is get Ibra in, B does this, you can bring Williams in over the next couple of weeks.

I'd do it. He looked very passive vs Burnley. Barkley has great fixtures coming up and seems to be on pens. Cheaper too so leaves you with some cash to upgrade elsewhere if needed

Worth doing a -4 hit to replace Llorente & Kane with one of the below:

    A) Ibra & Rondon
    B) Ibra & Long
    C) Ibra & Carroll

Carroll is injured. The other two not convincing. I assume you already have Gray. Otherwise why not Negredo if he does well again tonight

My front three currently consist of Kane,Aguero & Llorente I need to get rid of Kane and Llorente in order to afford Ibra I've just checked and can't afford Gray,Negredo,Rondon or Caroll anyway so I will have to be Long or Hernandez.
