Diego Costa scores twice as Eden Hazard bring home a one-point return. Leroy Fer strengthens his claim as a budget midfielder, whilst Stephen Kingsley seems to have convinced Francesco Guidolin he’s a worthy starter. Here’s the Stock Check following today’s events..

On the Rise

Diego Costa
Whilst Eden Hazard offered us nothing more than a yellow card, Costa maintained his momentum under Antonio Conte by netting both of the Blues’ goals at the Liberty.

Over 362,000 FPL managers turned to Costa as a result of Sergio Aguero’s suspension last week and today’s display means is the only forward to score or assist in all four Gameweeks.

Conte has failed to curb the Spain international’s penchant for falling foul of referees, though – this afternoon’s caution was his third of the season, continuing a run that has seen him booked in every league match that he has scored in this term.

Leroy Fer
Along with Etienne Capoue, the Swansea midfielder continues to bely his budget price tag, with this afternoon’s goal a third in the first four Gameweeks.

Granted, the upcoming fixtures continue to look dire but having scored against Leicester and Chelsea in back-to-back fixtures, Fer seems to have the form to prevail.

Capoue’s cheaper price (4.7 to the Dutchman’s 5.2) and kind set of fixtures from Gameweek 6 suggests he’s likely to remain the favoured fifth midfielder.

Gylfi Sigurdsson
Without a goal or assist in the first three Gameweeks, the Swansea playmaker had dropped to 7.3 ahead of Chelsea’s visit.

Sigurdsson’s spot-kick duties came to the rescue, though, and with a couple of bonus points also in the bag, his season now looks up and running.

Fer may currently be the form option, yet Siggurdsson is established Fantasy royalty and could be one to consider when the fixtures start to improve in Gameweek 9.

Stephen Kingsley
The Scot was expected to drop to the bench to accommodate Neil Taylor’s return but instead retained a role in the first XI thanks to a change in tactics by Francesco Guidolin.

The Swansea manager’s decision to begin with a 3-5-1-1 allowed Kingsley to start for the fourth successive Gameweek, stationed alongside Jordi Amat and Federico Fernandez in a back three, with Taylor utilised as a left wing-back.

Guidolin’s first-half decision to haul off Taylor and bring on Mo Barrow suggests Kingsley may well be ahead in the pecking order.

Regardless, with Southampton, City, Liverpool and Arsenal next, he looks set for a spot on our FPL benches for now.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
Okay, it was his first blank of the season.

Nonetheless, there’s no doubt that if Hazard had delivered yet again today, the bandwagon would have kicked into overdrive.

Although a rare off day will certainly be forgiven by his owners, some would-be suitors may now think twice over bringing in the Belgian right now.

With the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Roberto Firmino and Michail Antonio all bagging double-figure hauls ahead of some great fixtures, Chelsea’s schedule – which sees them face Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester and Man United in the next five Gameweeks – could prove enough of a short-term deterrent.

The Chelsea Defence
Antonio Conte handed new boys David Luiz and Marcos Alonso a place amongst the substitutes, opting instead to keep faith in the defence that produced a clean sheet against Burnley in the previous Gameweek.

Branislav Ivanovic may have collected an assist for Costa’s acrobatic leveler yet the nature of Chelsea’s capitulation indicates their backline is very much a work in progress right now.

Given the aforementioned fixtures, Conte will be desperate to address his rearguard’s shortcomings. With John Terry doubtful for Liverpool’s visit with an ankle problem, the Italian may well consider a reshuffle against Jurgen Klopp’s in-form attack.

Neil Taylor
Hauled off just 40 minutes into his first appearance of the season, the left-back looked none too happy with his manager’s decision as Swansea reverted to a back-four.

Post-match, Guidolin apologised, conceding he should have replaced the Wales international at the break, though the bottom line is that Taylor now seems to have fallen behind the cut-price Kingsley as the Italian’s preferred left-back for now.

Will bench for GW6 + 7 and play Capoop BUR(A) and BOU(H) and I guarantee he will get 2pts or less in each.

          Firmino, Caz, Antonio, Hazard, Maloney
          Aguero, Deeney, Defoe.
Can even do Caz to Mand

Too early to tell, if the likes of Benteke, Lukaku, Bony, etc. hit their straps it will be hard to have them all. The mid-priced midfielders are allowing it from an affordability point of view though.

You just know he'll go and hit 5 against Newcastle in less than 60 minutes though ... can be devastating not to own.

Definitely wanting Aguero just working out who I'd lose Lukaku/Benteke/Ibrahimovic and which midfielder to downgrade.

Arsenal and Liverpool fixtures look ideal from 6/7

No need to Wc. Gray needs to be going.
Don't like Sanchez too much invested in midfield. Antonio/ Caz double up with Mane.
Costa looks good until he gets 2 yellows or red for suspension.
        Need a Wb defender.

Yes - room for one more mid to high priced attacker, and that's about it. Those 3 will usually contain the captain. I'd say you're looking at a low brow 5th and 6th attacker too.

This is the thing. I don't think I'll veer away from Kun at all for captaincy. Seems a lot of money for Hazard and Zlatan seeing I won't captain either of them.

Tough one. The one playing an abysmal defence or the one spearheading the best attack? I'd probably say the latter but the 'false 9' is still an option with Pep. He took Kelechi off very early in the derby

Liverpool scoring bags of goals, I'm really starting to like Mane, so much attacking threat, super explosive.

My transfer for this week will be Ozil -> Mane. I think Mane will get more FPL points than Ozil this season. i'm going with form over fixtures. Will also get me 0.5 ITB.

Second transfer that i'm looking at is Negredo -> Benteke.

Thoughts and opinions on the above transfers are much appreciated.

I actually like Ozil to Mane.

Mane is more direct imo, and more integral to what Liverpool want to do this season.

Ozil for all his talent when I watch Arsenal play honestly the scoring could come from any number of players they are so deep with talent.

Yes i agree, Mane more direct, gets in the box way more than Ozil. He will be great for Liverpool this season. Think im going with that transfer this week.

Also the plus with Mane is, no european cup football.

Think it's looking a dead cert that Costa can do Ibrah's job and equal or better his season haul over the course of the season and for much less.

Aguero - Costa - Your choice Tekkers, Lukaku, many options here what I'll settle with I think when I draft Kun back in.

Acqua any friendly wager Costa bets Ibrah this season in points. And I'll use those funds elsewhere.

Only a matter of time before Rashford forces Mou's hand as well Ibrah looking his age out there despite the goals, which may dry up under these performances and leave owners pondering his place in their team.

Yes he popped in a ball that was bobbled.

It's no slight on Ibrah, but why look for Aguero funds elsewhere when Costa could match the output for less? Costa in form no denying. And talk of reds and yellows way overblown as detractor.

I'd also like to know how many baps his brace got him?

After a wasted early WC and "some" hits this gw I feel i dodged a bullet and came away with a pretty decent OR and most important, a solid team going forward.

    Foster Jak
    Walker Baines Valencia Smith Amat
    Haz Mane Özil Antonio Capoue
    Lukaku Vardy Dio

Vardy to Kun gw 6, have 3.1 ITB

    Does this plan seem alright?

    GW5: Save FT
    GW6: Kane + Lamela + Redmond/Bolasie --> Aguero + Firmino + Snodgrass (-4)

Does this seem alright...without taking the hit, won't be able to buy Firmino.
