Michail Antonio’s incredible rise in status has been a gift to Fantasy Premier League managers.

Modestly priced at 7.0 in the initial price list, we wondered if he could possibly maintain last season’s form and truly provide an alternative to a pricey Dimitri Payet in the West Ham ranks.

Yesterday’s 4-2 reverse to Watford perfectly captured the current relationship between the pair.

Payet’s quality and craft was in evidence but, as we’d previously highlighted in Saturday’s members article, it was Antonio ultimately providing the end product and bigger returns.

For all his talent, Antonio’s form is nullifying Payet’s appeal given the difference in output and price.

With the Hammers defence looking fragile, ensuring that Slaven Bilic’s side must chase goals, Antonio’s stock remains buoyant despite West Ham’s indifferent form.

The fixture list also offers reassurance that he can go on delivering.

Antonio duly climbs to second spot in our midfield Watchlist rankings – only Chelsea’s Eden Hazard sits above him in our current reckoning.

Elsewhere in midfield, Roberto Firmino’s two-goal haul in Liverpool’s emphatic win over Leicester has him climb the Watchlist ranks and into the top three.

We had previously stuck by the Brazilian, overlooking his compatriot Philippe Coutinho and the mounting claims of Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana.

There’s little doubt that Jurgen Klopp’s midfield will continue to share the points but Firmino appears to be the most likely to come out on top. A creator as well as an executor of goals, he remains pivotal to Klopp’s attacking gameplan.

Again, the fixture list is kind enough to suggest that further returns will flow.

Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling holds his rank despite an anonymous display at Old Trafford.

Kevin De Bruyne makes a strong case to supersede the winger but, like the Alexis Sanchez vs Santi Cazorla battle at Arsenal, price is a factor here.

Sterling appeared to be charged with pinning Luke Shaw back against United, which limited his attacking impact. That won’t be the case against Bournemouth at the Etihad in Gameweek 5 – we will re-assess his stock following that.

As mentioned, Cazorla is now edging Sanchez in our thinking, purely because, with Sergio Aguero’s return looming, the funds for the Chilean look too big an obstacle.

Arsenal have the fixtures to produce profit in the coming weeks so midfield cover looks wise – Cazorla can offer that for a price of 7.6 – a 3.4 saving compared to the outlay on Sanchez.

Whilst we have little doubt that Sanchez will dominate and potentially blitz Hull City in Gameweek 5, in the mid-term, Cazorla is the more realistic cover of Wenger’s attack.

That has also seen Mesut Ozil drop out of our thinking.

Ozil has surrendered some set-piece duties to Cazorla and the Spaniard is keeping pace in terms of chance creation. Having claimed consecutive goals from the spot, it’s penalty duties that provide the deciding factor.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Thinking of this as a possible WC team

    Heaton / Pickford
    Amat / Masuaku / Stones / Kone / Holebas
    Capoue / Lallana / Hazard / Cazorla / Antonio
    Benteke / Zlatan / Lukaku

ITB 4.0 so I can do Lukaku > Kun for GW6

Good team but I wouldn't have a WH defender right now. They have been woeful at the back.

Get Williams for Everton instead and you're gtg.

People thinking of transferring out Sanchez and Ozil after one blank is the dumbest thing I've read in these comments, and the scary thing is how many are thinking about it, lol.

Have you seen their fixtures you knuckle heads?

Yep, the intelligence of some posters on here drives me crazy sometimes.

One blank and suddenly a player is a liability. Until he scores double digits the following week and he's suddenly essential.

        So dumb.

That's different and fair enough if you need the funds, but some people are suddenly saying both players aren't worth having because of one non scoring gw, and that makes no sense.

Probably the same people who were saying Firmino was a poor option a couple weeks ago, lol.

Wildcard incoming after GW5 opens. EXCITING!

Initial tinkerings lead me to ask you the following questions:

    1) With Kane scoring again and Spurs tasty fixtures surely the main man of 20+ goals two seasons in a row is about to kick into gear. So Kane or Ibra? Whichever is left out means no attacking cover for that team

    2) Currently with double Man Utd defence. Would you a) keep both b) ditch one c) ditch both - if b shaw or valencia

    3) David Luiz. Worth 6.0. I know it's early days. but very tempting.

    4) Is Hazard really untouchable 😉

100% should have been a red card and penalty but we played crap anyway so probably didn't deserve to get anything from the game anyway.

Hopefully the defeat fires the lads up and they actually turn up next derby without having to rely on a refs whistle to win the game.

As long as Rooney continues to play in the 10 role we will continue to struggle against the top sides.

We created nothing and our only half chances came from Bravo's errors. Sorry but that's not good enough for our club, and it's only because of Ibra's class that the scoreline looked more flattering than the game actually was.

I love my club but I'm a realist and I won't make excuses for the sake of blind support. We were outplayed and well below our best considering the talent in our squad. The other team wanted it more and it showed.

things i know...(my opinions only so dont shoot me
    1. cazorla will cover sanch or ozil in tight games but when arsenal romp he might get left behind.
    2. you dont want to own westham defence this season.
    3. you dont want leic players this season(they are overpriced cos of their success last season).
4.Walker looks great for points both ends. he is carrying on his euro form.
    5. premium goalkeepers are not worth the money no matter what ppl tell u.
6.the most essential player in the game isnt aguero. its a watford midfielder ( i dont own him yet.)
    7. ibras funds are better spread around the rest of the team. and hope to find a cheap forward who can match him.
    8.when iheanacho plays he scores.

      1 - Agree.
      2 - 110%.
      3 - Wait for form that'll come.
      4 - CL a worry for me.
5 - Always been the way.
6 - Kun is the only essential player in the game, when fit.
7 - Not when he gets a brace and 50% of the game captained him and you reinvested in Alexis who was rested cause he had to fly 1st class across the Atlantic.
      8 - Facts!

That's this weeks status, fokus changes every week. A WHU cs, blank for Capoue, Kdb and Antonio next week will make People get WHU defs and selling the mentioned mids. Renember only two days away Sterling was the city mid to buy and Kdb the one to sell...

Stoke might be more defensive away from home? Plus, they did just get humiliated by Spurs so doubt they would want to give up too much space.

the only thing i would point out is stoke are big and good in the air which is where benteke is best. spurs scored all 4 on the ground. Zaha could be a better bet in that game i think. in fact ill have 20 on zaha anytime scorer i think.

Linked up well with the LIV mids. As always, there's the issue of fitness to monitor with Sturridge but he should be their starter.

He looked lively but as a Pool fan I'd be surprised and annoyed if he started vs Chelsea. He cant be trusted to press and work and I reckon Coutinho will take his place with Firmino playing false 9. He'll start here & there but Klopps not a very big fan for various reasons. Mane / Firmino ones to get, nailed, play 90 mins, involved...

When Aguero returns I think my team will be:

    Foster
    Valencia Walker Baines (4.5 Amat)
    Hazard Cazorla Antonio Snodgrass (Capoue)
    Ibra Aguero Benteke

    Looks good??

    1. Jersey

      yes, it looks good.

i would think seriously about getting Amat out of there (Baines ----> Williams &
Amat ---> 4.5). He has been playing poorly and could be benched soon.

i don't know if a wildcard is involved in getting there. if it is, Tottenham's
fullbacks are a no-go for me. Poch loves to rotate them when CL starts,
and it can become quite a nuisance. you could bank another .5 going
      from Walker to WBA.

backup goalie? money itb? WC? guessing on those.
