Zlatan Ibrahimovic drops out of our Watchlist top three for strikers for the first time this season, with Saturday’s blank providing just one factor behind the slip.

Although the Swede impressed in Manchester United’s 4-1 dismantling of champions Leicester City, Ibrahimovic emerged without returns and watched on while Marcus Rashford notched his third goal of the season in as many Premier League starts.

With Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero confirming his status as the top target for our forward lines with a brace at Swansea City, there were clear signs that Ibrahimovic’s burgeoning ownership was on the move.

At the time of writing, he’s suffered over 65,000 sales and endured yet another price drop to 11.6 having scaled the heights of 11.9 just a fortnight ago.

Inevitably, Aguero is receiving that traffic. The top transfer target overnight, the Argentine is now owned by 35% of FPL managers, with Ibrahimovic dropping to 56%. We will likely see that gap narrow by the week from this point on.

Rashford is also a factor. The 19-year-old enjoyed a price rise to 6.9 overnight having ranked second to Aguero for transfers in.

The potential value he offers can be a makeweight for the Aguero move, while also providing assurance of some cover of Manchester United’s attack ahead of their plum Gameweek 7 tie with Stoke City at Old Trafford.

Rashford climbs in our Watchlist rankings, though doubts remain about his minutes and his role.

Jose Mourinho deployed Rashford on the left flank against the Foxes, charging him with cutting inside and beyond Ibrahimovic when the Swede retreated deeper.

Wayne Rooney may have been ousted to the bench but he will doubtless remain a factor to offer rotation options, and that has us retain Ibrahimovic as the primary source of goals and points in United’s attack for now.

Another name has superseded the both Rashford and Ibrahimovic as Watford’s Troy Deeney climbs into our top three.

In action at Burnley on Monday night, we’re pre-empting another impressive display from Walter Mazzarri’s men, with Deeney a central figure.

He goes into the Turf Moor encounter off the back of two goals in consecutive matches and, crucially, has the fixtures over the next five Gameweeks to further his reputation as a valuable Fantasy asset in the third striker slot.

Jermain Defoe’s brace in Sunderland’s defeat to Crystal Palace also keeps him bubbling as an alternative.

Now level on points with Ibrahimovic, he has already delivered exceptional value and remains the focal point of the Black Cats’ attack with West Brom and Stoke City up next.

Chelsea’s Diego Costa suffers a significant drop in Watchlist rank following his blank and fourth booking of the season at Arsenal. The Spaniard is now just a single yellow card from a one-match ban and has a tough schedule of opponents looming.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Vincent Janssen makes a first appearance in our thinking having registered an assist in Saturday’s win at Middlesbrough, although with the fixtures stiffening for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, we’re showing early caution before boasting the Dutchman’s stock considerably.

The form of Son Heung-min is also a variable to consider.

The South Korean takes his place in our midfield Watchlist having relieved Erik Lamela as our choice candidate from the Spurs ranks.

But Son is amongst a competitive field, bolstered by no less than four Liverpool candidates who continue to jostle for position in our affections.

We go on struggling to pin down the key weapon in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield armoury and, right now, have chosen to show faith with Roberto Firmino, despite a bitterly disappointing blank in yesterday’s 5-1 rout of Hull City.

The suspicion is that the goals, assists and points will be continued to be shared out across the Reds’ midfield, with each taking turns to come to the fore or miss out.

However, Firmino has now blanked in three of five starts and is lagging behind his team-mates for FPL returns.

The Gameweek 7 trip to Swansea will give us yet more data to go on and perhaps see a clear candidate emerge.

For now, the Liverpool pack are firmly in our thoughts but left trailing the likes of Raheem Sterling, Michail Antonio and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez who all have form and/or fixtures in their favour.

Kevin De Bruyne is a notable omission – his hamstring injury sustained at Swansea was confirmed by Pep Guardiola post-match, forcing us to put his prospects on ice for the time being.

The Watchlist rankings for all positions have been revised this morning and are available in the sidebar or via the fourth button on the homepage on mobile.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I played mine this week, I would have benched Ozil (yes really, said so on the scoutcast this week due to my love of Jason Puncheon) so worked out for me. Also having Baines injured meant I would have been down to bare bones on the defence anyway.

I consider a good strategy with midfielders is to pick the points magnet for any team - for example Payet of last season, Hazard, Sanchez, Sterling. Liverpool won't always win by 4 and when there aren't enough points to go around you're inevitably going to be often disappointed.

Guys, whats your view on Diego Costa last game? He had some moves, obvious yellow, incoming suspensions but he, Willian and Cesc looks like they only ones who want to do something. Ditch? Or keep?

    1. Mick J
      • 10 Years

Costa is playing Hull (A) next and Leicester (H) thereafter. I would have him until the Hull match. If he then gets a suspension, transfer him out. After Leicester he has Man. United (H), Southampton (A) and Everton (H) – pretty tough, but he is probably suspended in one of them anyways. From gameweek 15/16 his fixtures turn to the better.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Is Zlatan overdue being ditched, or does he have one more game to save his reputation in Fantasy terms.

Up against one of the Premier League's worst defences at home should make him a cast iron captaincy candidate. But then a blank in a 4-1 drubbing of the current Champions has certainly make people think twice.

Personally I'm giving him the Stoke game but then will reconsider.

Then there's this as well for Members to see http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/6070/

What are other Ibra owners doing?

What are non Ibra owners doing with Manchester United assets? Tempted by Rashford?

Looks like a mistake to have kept him on wildcard, should have just gone with Sanchez and Rashford and saved myself some transfers.

Now the price changes have happened I have no choice but to keep him really, doesn't seem worth doing a straight swap to Rashford. I think he'll be gone after Stoke regardless, I don't have a good way to get Sanchez otherwise.

I'm probably ditching post Stoke when fixtures get worse and the cash coming in handy. But that goals imminent table is very persuasive to keeping for this weekend.

Not even sure fixtures are that bad really which is why I was so tempted to just switch for Rashford last night.

In next 5 it's Stoke, Burnley and Swansea. Plus Liverpool and Chelsea aren't keeping a huge amount of clean sheets.

          Arsenal fixtures look great though

I ditched Ibra the other week so that I could have both Sanchez and Aguero in my team. Luckily it's worked out so far.

If I still had him, I'd keep him for the next game and possibly captain.

Rashford is tempting, but for me it would mean a hit to replace Benteke, so doubt I'll do it. My FT this week is to replace Puncheon with Lallana.

personally i wouldn't go for Zlatan (and um a Utd fan). I had him in as a replacement for Aguero but dropped him immediately once Aguero was back. although he will pop goals in, his overall play is no where near the level of Aguero, Lukaku or Kane. He's an expensive luxury for me.
i've a very good week so far, rising to top 5k and 24th in New Zealand....still got Antonio & Capoue + 2pts from Valencia after Baines no show...

I said it at the start of the season and I will say it again.

Sanchez will outscore Ibra. He gets extra goal points, clean sheet points and will assist more goals in a more attacking Arsenal set up.

Sanchez, Aguero, and Liverpool midfielders are must haves. Ibra will score a good amount of points this season, but will not get near Aguero, and will end up with a similar points total as Lukaku and Costa. He is not worth his price tag.

Took Ibra and Hazard out last week for Aguero and Sterling, pretty happy with the moves so far, plus 15 points or plus 26 if you include the Aguero captaincy.

      I'm with Mark on this.
If you're always captaining Aguero then maybe Ibra is too much money.
With so many mids delivering points at a lot less money funds can be used across the squad. Most sides seem to need to find a few quid to improve defences.
Is Ibra going to score nearly twice as many goals as Rashford?
Ibra and a cheap 4th mid or Rashford and strong 4th mid with cash to upgrade defence?
Around 4m itb can go a long way.

If you need cash for sanchez/aguero I can understand to ditching him.

For my side I already have all three and Ibra has all all the stats that needed to keep him. He could easily scored a goal yesterday and we wont eve be here to discuss.

I just wonder if the members who think to swap him to rashford had checked the stats of the game?

I'm an Ibra owner who wildcarded last week and kept him.

Obviously I'm disappointed he didn't score any points but I'm not disappointed that I didn't ditch him. He was very unlucky not to score and assist yesterday and was heavily involved in most good things United did.

For me it was always about keeping him for the Stoke game, I'll be captaining him too. Could be a fantastic differential next week!

Keeping. Mindless to remove him. Those that have booted him will have plenty of regrets esp with the 60% ownership. His goal attempts inside the box and chances created are off the wall.

Much rather have Ibra than Sanchez who will soon do his usual disappearing act once Gru returns.

No chance I'm getting rid and captain against Stoke.

Even if he doesn't score I will be keeping. The more people getting rid the better. The goals imminent table is my favourite feature of the site, I call it the bible, such a good tool to use. Ibrahs stats on that show some big hauls ahead, with captaincy on him for them could be massive. I hate not owning Sanchez but Arsenal keep easily struggle to break teams down on this so called 'easy' run and I'm happy to stick with Ibrah for the time being.

If i had him still no way I would get rid before Stoke, however I sold him last week for Aguero as I already had Sanchez. Between Aguero and Ibra its got to be Aguero as he'll score the most point IMO. I sold him at 11.9 so wouldn't mind buying him back at 11.5 or less lol

Why is there a Sunderland and a Hull GK in the top 3 of the Watchlist? Surely FFS doesn't expect them to outscore Bravo, Cech and De Gea?

I'll save my question on Deeney for another day.

Save points, fixtures, City and United aren't defending well. Cech will score the best.

Save points don't compensate much when a team concedes 4+ goals. Over time CS points will still win the day.

Probably true but for example butland got 132 pets last year while cecum got 159, ddg 142. For 1m less I would trade those points as it could be the difference that would enable a 4.5 defender to a 5.5 defender. I expect the difference to be bigger in defense when comparing Dann to friend for example.

I don't even want to mention the points alderweireld got last year

Firmino as a false #9 means better potential for Coutinho and Mane - Arsenal and Hull games are clear example, 9 goals and no FPL involvement.

Lallana too. Crazy there are 4 options. Coutinho's PPG last season was his best ever and now he's showing a bit of consistency so it worries me but I won't drop Firmino for a hit.

Did Lovren have a virus yesterday and/or is Klaven becoming first choice with Matip?

Over the next few weeks I'm thinking of doubling with Firmino and Lallana and getting Sterling. Means DG Baines to a 4.9. City and Liverpool have decent fixtures

    Heaton Pickford
    Valencia Lovren/Klaven Evans Holebas Amat
    Sanchez Firmino Sterling Lallana Capoue

This sounds absurd...but should I take a minus 12 to do this (it would leave me with 0.0 ITB so needs to be done in the next couple of days).

rodwell, Lukaku, Masuku, Ozil for Anichebe, Sanchez, Coutinho and Holebas.

    - would give me a team of
    Foster, Pickford
    Holebas, Valencia, Amat, Pieters, Williams
    Sanchez, Mane, Antonio, Coutinho, Sterling
    Benteke, Aguero, Anichebe.

He's been very close to rise for 2 weeks now, oscillating between 5 and 1 percentage difference to rise, and has now taken a set back with regard to that, maybe furthest from rise for over a week now, 5% distance that was around 1% when transfer deadline passed for the GW. So, the course of transfers has changed and Kos is not approaching a price rise now. That may be related to Bellerin transfers, because he was approaching a price drop, was over 90% to it at some point near to Chelsea match, but is only at 79% now. According to fplstatistics.
