A Watford wing-back and a Southampton striker bolster their CV’s as value acquisitions over Sunday’s encounters. Here’s the latest Stock Check from Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Jose Holebas
A superbly struck drive provided a second goal of the season, which, coupled with a first Hornets clean sheet of the campaign, saw the Greek return a 15-point Fantasy Premier League (FPL) haul.

Still hovering on four bookings, one away from a ban, Holebas nonetheless represents a key defensive option at just 4.5.

The Greek benefited from Walter Mazzarri’s decision to revert to a 3-5-2, ensuring that Holebas was granted the freedom to push forward from wing-back.

Given his attacking prowess and prominence at dead-balls, Holebas appears to offer potential that can present value even when Watford’s fixtures stiffen.

Holebas faces Swansea City and Hull City in the next two Gameweeks.

Charlie Austin
His two goals in Southampton’s 3-1 victory over Burnley took him to four in his last four Gameweeks to promote his value as a 6.4 third striker option.

In a weekend that saw both Christian Benteke and Jemaine Defoe draw blanks, Austin has emerged as a clear alternative that can help to liberate valuable funds.

Austin appears to have assumed spot-kick duties from Dusan Tadic, and although he’s yet to complete 90 minutes this season, he’s started the last three for Claude Puel.

Nathan Redmond
Having suffered more than 200,000 FPL sales over the last five Gameweeks, the 5.9 midfield option returned to the scoresheet with his first strike since Gameweek 1.

Redmond has impressed in a striker role without scoring in recent weeks but appears to be integral to Puel’s attacking ploys.

However, with Sofiane Boufal approaching match fitness, it remains to be seen how Redmond slots into the Saints system in the weeks to come.

Tom Heaton
On the losing side, Heaton nonetheless boosted his stock with a stunning performance which saw him make 11 saves and earn three points plus bonus.

Heaton has now made 40 saves in total, fetching 10 points from saves this season – more than any other goalkeeper.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

In order to do Antonio > Walcott I need 0.5million so what's the best enabler transfer?
    A. Williams > Pieters
    B. Deeney> Austin
    C. Sterling > Son
    D. Capoue (5th mid) > 4.4

I have something very similar to yours and was also optimistic. THen I realized, Southampton are actually getting really good and are a tough nut to crack. Burnley are very strong at home. WBA are tough to break down. and Bournemouth are on form. Only player I see scoring big in that front 8 is Walcott 😀

I have all the same players -Coutinho...

    1. Valencia + Vertonghen OR Mustafi + Williams
    2. Snoddy to Allen (4th mid) OR Capoue to Fletcher (5th mid)
    3. Aguero OR Sanchez for C

Southampton are looking really good at the moment. So if I had Sanchez, this would be a week to captain him I believe.

Tottenham seem the most solid at the back for me, but the Alderweireld injury could change things. Wait and see on defense. Mustafi for me is the 3rd best choice out of arsenal defense, which is pointless if they aren't keeping CS...

Snoddy to Allen is way to jerky for me. Cap to Fletch

Looking for an Antonio replacement. (8.0 ITB)
    Better option and why?

    A) Son (bou, LEI, ars)

    B) Siggy (WAT, stk, MUN)

Both have there pros & cons. Fixtures are decent for both. Siggy on all set peices, possible up top in a false 9. Son plays for the better team and has form on his side. No Arnie 4YCs. No Tadic have Austin. Have Walcott.

    Appreciate your thoughts!

Let's not go overboard on Holebas, he loves a booking and Watford dont keep many clean sheets or score that many goals BUT for me he's the very essence of what a fantasy footballer should be and at 4.4m an absolute steal.

    Best forward for max 7.4?

Fixtures say Hull...but the weekends performance didn't fill me with confidence

Stoke have decent fixtures too but none of their forwards look worth investing in.

Other option is Deeney - Watford don't look great though.

Another pretty woeful gameweek for me despite my team looking ok on paper (i think anyway!)

Any thoughts on what i should do this week, was planning chadli to Alli, but the performances this weekend and Kone injury changes things as i could potentially only have 2 defenders.

    Pickford / Heaton

    Bellerin / Kone / Lovren / Evans / Amat

    Sanchez / Chadli / Capoue / Snodgrass / Coutinho

    Benteke / Aguero / Lukaku

Just feels wrong taking out Chadli when in good form. Although like i say, had he not scored on Saturday he would have been out for Alli.

I think its 1 of Evans or Kone out, like the holebas or Stoke shout

    Goooood morning everyone!

How are we all on this fine Monday morning?

As long as Lovren and Baines are good to play next week I think I can either save a transfer or get rid of Antonio. I don't really like doing that vs Sunderland but if he's playing RB and with the next few fixtures, I'm not really that interested.

I see there was a hot topic about it already but I'm thinking of going Sigurdsson, try and get ahead of the curve. Too soon?

As always its who to lose though?
we cant have everyone ....but is a good prospect, Arnie the same but less so but see if on 4 bookings

Am thinking Allen as 5th mid for Capoue though!, get on the bandwagon for price rises

Think I might do Evans>Holebas this week and give Antonio one more before getting Coutinho next week.
