A Watford wing-back and a Southampton striker bolster their CV’s as value acquisitions over Sunday’s encounters. Here’s the latest Stock Check from Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Jose Holebas
A superbly struck drive provided a second goal of the season, which, coupled with a first Hornets clean sheet of the campaign, saw the Greek return a 15-point Fantasy Premier League (FPL) haul.

Still hovering on four bookings, one away from a ban, Holebas nonetheless represents a key defensive option at just 4.5.

The Greek benefited from Walter Mazzarri’s decision to revert to a 3-5-2, ensuring that Holebas was granted the freedom to push forward from wing-back.

Given his attacking prowess and prominence at dead-balls, Holebas appears to offer potential that can present value even when Watford’s fixtures stiffen.

Holebas faces Swansea City and Hull City in the next two Gameweeks.

Charlie Austin
His two goals in Southampton’s 3-1 victory over Burnley took him to four in his last four Gameweeks to promote his value as a 6.4 third striker option.

In a weekend that saw both Christian Benteke and Jemaine Defoe draw blanks, Austin has emerged as a clear alternative that can help to liberate valuable funds.

Austin appears to have assumed spot-kick duties from Dusan Tadic, and although he’s yet to complete 90 minutes this season, he’s started the last three for Claude Puel.

Nathan Redmond
Having suffered more than 200,000 FPL sales over the last five Gameweeks, the 5.9 midfield option returned to the scoresheet with his first strike since Gameweek 1.

Redmond has impressed in a striker role without scoring in recent weeks but appears to be integral to Puel’s attacking ploys.

However, with Sofiane Boufal approaching match fitness, it remains to be seen how Redmond slots into the Saints system in the weeks to come.

Tom Heaton
On the losing side, Heaton nonetheless boosted his stock with a stunning performance which saw him make 11 saves and earn three points plus bonus.

Heaton has now made 40 saves in total, fetching 10 points from saves this season – more than any other goalkeeper.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Collins & Capoue would be my priorities if were you. I'd keep Bolasie & Antonio for one more week. Got any cash in bank?

      1. Slumdog-Mignolet

        Sorry should have said. Just 0.3 ITB. Worried about Antonio as he is playing right wing back now.

          Yeah, it's an issue. Walcott is a good shout right now.

    2. Differentiator
      10 years, 4 days ago

      Bolasie doesn't cut the mustard. Bolasie -> Snodgrass IMO, give Antonio one more week then ship.

      Then for a -4, swap out Collins for someone you are happy playing next week.

      1. Slumdog-Mignolet
        10 years, 4 days ago

        Yea been trying to ship Bolasie for a while now. Thinking him and Antonio out for Walcott and Allen or Snodgrass. Plan to start Amat next week so will hold off on Collins for a bit longer. Holebas or Pieters on the watchlist. Thanks

      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

      The fixtures aren't terrible for you defensively next week so I wouldn't take a 4 point hit changing defenders. Even if Collins doesn't play, you still have:

      Vertonghen (Bournemouth away)
      Koscielny (Middlesbrough home)
      Amat (Watford home)

      Not a disaster.

      1. Slumdog-Mignolet

  13. Fowler23
    10 years, 4 days ago

    Pickford Jaku
    Kosc Stones Pieters Holebas Amat
    Alexis Walcott Sterling Coutinho Capoue
    Kun Lukaku Rashford

    1) Assuming no injuries in European matches, do I save FT

    2) which 2 defenders to bench?

    1. Lone Wolf FPL
      10 years, 4 days ago

    Hi

    Snodgrass to Son/Alli/Sigurdson or Rashford to Lukaku?

    Foster
    holebas mee monreal
    de bruyne Walcott firmino Snodgrass
    Costa Aguero Rashford

    1. Differentiator

      Why would you buy Snod if you don't play him for the upcoming fixtures? He does have 3 goals to his name so far; easy to forget.

    Foster (Jaku)
    Walker Stones Holebas (Smith, Amat)
    Sanchez Sterling Firmino Snodgrass (Capoue)
    Aguero Lukaku Deeney

    2FT 0.5ITB

    Going to go for Capoue > 4.4 mid and then...

    (1) Stones > Mustafi/Kosc
    (2) Foster > Cech

    Good plan? And which would you do?

        Quietly getting on with FPL to distract myself from his rampant sexism

    If Moses becomes a starter for Chelsea would you consider him? At 5.5 he cant do much worse than Redmond/Snodgrass/Capoue etc

      he won't be a starter.

        What makes you say that? He fits Conte's new 3-4-3 formation perfectly.

      For sure but I dont think he'll be a starter. Prefer Snoddy and Redmond. Would take so many other options over Capoue

    After having my worst gw in my fpl history.. my team looks okay for next week;

    Pickford (whu)

    Lovren(WBA) - Williams(bur) - Koscielny (MID)
    Snodgrass(STK) - Antonio(SUN) - Sanchez(MID) - Firmino(WBA)
    Benteke(lei) - Lukaku(bur) - Aguero(SOU)

    Foster(liv) - Capoue(swa) - Amat(WAT) - Evans(liv)

    1 FT 0.7 ITB- thinking to upgrade Antonio - Walcott however Sunderland at home would be a risky game to drop Antonio for.

    Should I save transfer?

    Thanks,

    Looking ahead to next GW, I have 1 FT and 1.2m ITB and areas that need improving no doubt.

    Pick Jaku
    Vertongen Bellerin Smith Holebas Amat
    Sanchez Sterling Antonio Firmino Capoue
    Aguero Lukaku Diomande

    A) Sterling --> Walcott
    B) Antonio --> Walcott
    C) Capoue --> Snoddy
    D) Capoue --> Allen
    E) Jaku --> Any GK under 5.3m
    F) Save FT

        Ha I know he's awful but bench fodder at the moment as I decided last week to go Bellerin & Diomande (play 352) over Mustafi & Austin......not my best decision ever 🙁

    Thoughts? Plan Allen or Amat

    Foster
    Bellerin, Vertonghen,
    Sanchez, Walcott, Firmino, Son, Allen
    Aguero, Deeney, Rashford

    Jak, Amat, Dawson, Kone

    Capoue > Allen is the no-brainer move right?
