A Watford wing-back and a Southampton striker bolster their CV’s as value acquisitions over Sunday’s encounters. Here’s the latest Stock Check from Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Jose Holebas
A superbly struck drive provided a second goal of the season, which, coupled with a first Hornets clean sheet of the campaign, saw the Greek return a 15-point Fantasy Premier League (FPL) haul.

Still hovering on four bookings, one away from a ban, Holebas nonetheless represents a key defensive option at just 4.5.

The Greek benefited from Walter Mazzarri’s decision to revert to a 3-5-2, ensuring that Holebas was granted the freedom to push forward from wing-back.

Given his attacking prowess and prominence at dead-balls, Holebas appears to offer potential that can present value even when Watford’s fixtures stiffen.

Holebas faces Swansea City and Hull City in the next two Gameweeks.

Charlie Austin
His two goals in Southampton’s 3-1 victory over Burnley took him to four in his last four Gameweeks to promote his value as a 6.4 third striker option.

In a weekend that saw both Christian Benteke and Jemaine Defoe draw blanks, Austin has emerged as a clear alternative that can help to liberate valuable funds.

Austin appears to have assumed spot-kick duties from Dusan Tadic, and although he’s yet to complete 90 minutes this season, he’s started the last three for Claude Puel.

Nathan Redmond
Having suffered more than 200,000 FPL sales over the last five Gameweeks, the 5.9 midfield option returned to the scoresheet with his first strike since Gameweek 1.

Redmond has impressed in a striker role without scoring in recent weeks but appears to be integral to Puel’s attacking ploys.

However, with Sofiane Boufal approaching match fitness, it remains to be seen how Redmond slots into the Saints system in the weeks to come.

Tom Heaton
On the losing side, Heaton nonetheless boosted his stock with a stunning performance which saw him make 11 saves and earn three points plus bonus.

Heaton has now made 40 saves in total, fetching 10 points from saves this season – more than any other goalkeeper.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Considering Cazorla + Ibra + Hojbjerg -> Coutinho + Callum Wilson + Sterling later on in the week for -12. The team is looking dire. Any thoughts?

    1. HurriKane
      • 13 Years

i like it. In about 4-5 gw's the hit will be payed off or even quicker

      Coutinho > Caz
      Sterling > Hoijberg

Wilson has good fixtures and can keep up with or come close to ibra returns for much easier

    2. Too Mane Men

You'll be lucky to get an average score with a -12 in any week. Coutinho and Sterling have too many quality players around them to justify taking a hit on them. IE, they could blank easily. Wilson is a good transfer after next GW. I'd keep hold of Cazorla and monitor Ibra tomorrow.

I tried a different tactic to decide my captaincy this week. I selected Aguero, Sanchez and Walcott and asked my 3 year old daughter who I should captain. She said Walcott.

Of course if she had been really good she would have pointed out Holebas' potential but I guess that leaves her something to work towards.

I used to do similar I would give my woman my two final options and let her pick but only if I'm really undecided but her final decision ismt binding.

She picked the Hazard hattrick vs Newcastle a few seasons back.

          Of course.

It depends how much conviction she answers with or if she says I have a gut feeling ill back her selection.

Probably helps that she watches MOTD.

yep wildcarded and went well for 2 weeks.....sticking with Ibra has been my big mistake. Could have had Costa or Lukaku instead and that would have meant Walcott instead of Fer. Also because so much funds tied up in Ibra/Sanchez/Aguero I went Britos over Holebas

    Antonio Sterling Walcott Firmino
    Ibra Kun Benteke

Those Holebas points were massive, especially after yesterday's debacle. Up 200 places in OR with four players to go in tomorrow's match. Incredible what one differential can do when it comes good.

My defenders this week were quite frustrating.
Foster looked like he might pick up a few BPs before conceding late.
Aguero misses a pen and to rub salt in the wound, Everton concede minutes later.
VVD misses out on an assist and Burnley barely had a shot all game but they still somehow concede...

I'd really feel sorry to lose Sanchez, but he's just not performing for me (2,3,3,5 when I owned him) 🙁 I think he'll get a haul if I sell though 🙂

This. He's been the ultimate troll for me.Have very rarely got his haul points.

Sell Sanchez at your peril. I doubled up with Wally yesterday

It's terrible . You should delete your team and then your computer out the window just to be on the safe side .

I don't get the Sterling > Walcott advice. Happy to see Sterling's price fall though if it does.

Walcott is out scoring him, what's not to get

I'm probably going to switch Sterling to Firmino or Coutinho. Already have Wally.

Not when he has Sunderland next.

But if he blanks in that one then it's goodbye from me

I am. Nice fixture but his chances will be limited from RWB.

No other pressing issues so would Foster to Grant be a good transfer this week? I have Pickford too. Would give me 1.1ITB.

Check when Butland is back . I think it is quite soon . I am fairly certain he it is at the end of the month and he is already back in training

I was going to say Butland due back soon but seems he's suffered a problem in his recovery so go for it
