We roll out our pre-Gameweek members article next, offering insight on the armband conundrum for the upcoming round of fixtures.

First off, we cast an eye over the main contenders in this week’s Captain Poll, then analyse the Opta numbers and check up on the Rate My Team ratings before suggesting a couple of differential options in light of the analysis.

The Captain Poll

Despite a disappointing blank at home to Middlesbrough last Saturday, Alexis Sanchez tops the Captain Poll once again for Gameweek 10.

The Arsenal attacker earns 36% of the votes cast ahead of a trip to struggling Sunderland – he’s averaged eight points per away appearance, bagging double-figure hauls at Watford and Hull.

Theo Walcott’s 10% backing was earned prior to today’s revelation that he’s a minor doubt for the Black Cats clash due to a hamstring problem. If fit, though, the winger could still profit – he’s picked up points in three of four road trips.

A home encounter with West Ham sees Romelu Lukaku split the Gunners duo.

So often a frustrating Fantasy pick in seasons gone by, the Everton frontman finally seems to have stepped up in consistency since the arrival of Ronald Koeman – he’s scored or assisted in five of the last six and has collected 11% of votes.

Lukaku clearly loves facing the Hammers, too – he has scored in all eight appearances against the London club since moving to Merseyside.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic limps home in fifth spot with a mere 7% backing – a damning indictment of our lack of faith in a frontman who has scored once in seven appearances.

United’s home clash with a Burnley side that’s conceded nine goals in three away fixtures gives the veteran one more chance to justify his lofty valuation. With 38% FPL ownership, a big performance could have a significant say in the overall rankings.

Liverpool’s in-form trio Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are once again looking major differentials as they travel to a Palace defence still without a clean sheet.

With so much uncertainty over who to captain in any given Gameweek, few are willing to roll the dice, with Coutinho the most popular armband choice on just 3%.

A home clash with Hull City bring Troy Deeney (5%) into contention.

The Tigers have conceded 11 goals in their last two away matches, while the Watford skipper has netted in each of his last two at Vicarage Road, with strikes against Man United and Bournemouth.

Chelsea pair Diego Costa and Eden Hazard are also overlooked. The Belgian has scored in four successive matches for club and country, while Costa has bagged four of his seven goals on the road.

Nonetheless, a trip to Southampton looks far from straightforward – Claude Puel’s men restricted Man City to a single goal at the Etihad and have conceded more than once in just one of the last seven Gameweeks.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Williams - Stones - smith
    Sanchez - Sterling - Firmino - Allen
    Kun - Lukaku - Deeney

Jaku, Capoe - amat - love

2.6 ITB - What to do? Go Bellerin instead of Stones? City have pretty good fixtures coming up..

I'd be more tempted to upgrade Williams with Everton's upcoming fixtures looking tough.

Arsenal defenders look good, as do Southampton's. Fuchs on my watchlist too

    Stick or twist?

    a. Play Lovren (cpl) and Capoue (HUL).

    b. Walcott and Rashford > Firmino and Callum Wilson.

well mostly yeah. didn't know rashford is doubtful.

i'd be inclined to keep walcott even though i don't think he'll play tomorrow. capoue could go well, tho he's only on my bench.

the "ins" are good. i was a bit hasty with "surely"

      Arsenal fan here - perhaps?

When Arsenal played Hull who played a quite limited game and counter attack, they still got in behind a lot as our full backs pushed forward a lot. I suspect he will have half chances and maybe a one-on-one.

      I'd play him.

does anybody have any opion on doing:
    Amat > Alonso

    Alonso (5.9), Valencia (5.5), Smith (4.5), Holebas (4.5), Cameron (4.4)
    33.3 Total spend including GK's

Which teams do you think are incapable of parking the bus, or playing tight in general?

It's not something the stats obviously reveal as goal attempts and shots in the box may still be high against sound defensive teams (consider Arsenal vs Middlesbrough last week, for example). It's one of those where watching the games give you a clear indication of the open teams.

Off the top of my head, I'd say Crystal Palace, which is why I think Liverpool will really carve them open. I used to think Bournemouth too, but Eddie Howe has them playing much tighter this year.

Hull and Sunderland I don't consider open, as they don't fancy their chances to win a game in the first place! Perhaps Stoke this year are also quite open. Any others?

not really, Wakey. Most casual punters bet on a scoreline and/or first goalscorer.

There's teams which fancy their chances and play open as a result, and others that try and play on the counter and scrape an away goal.

palace swansea leicester hull - don't fancy any of them shutting up shop. the likes of burnley (especially), watford and bournemouth can do it, but an early goal against can open floodgates. football is absolutely about that 1st goal.

    Those planning to keep Walcott...

Spurs haven't conceded more than one goal in a game all season

Then Mourinho will surely shut up shop at the Emirates

Combined with almost certainly missing out this week, why are you keeping?

Playing Devils advocate here because I am inclined to keep, maybe irrationally

Only takes an early goal for the shop to open.

But is it wise to back something happening that hasn't happened all season?

Vs a swap to a Liverpool mid in a side with great fixtures who are free scoring at the moment

Chelsea broke the bus early last week against United to be fair.

I don't think Mou brought the bus

Chelsea in the form they had been in were a totally different proposition to Liverpool

Mou will be looking to right things after that bartering and tighten things up

I think that would have been where he was going, had they not conceded a goal in the first minute.

Either way, for me, Arsenal only really have those 2 bad fixtures between now and GW26.

Good point and his price point is undoubtedly good also

As I say I am inclined to keep

But from GW13, you might want him back again, and you will loose value

True. Hazard could also have established himself by then and it is tough to have Haz Sanchez Walcott and a Pool mid

Echoing my own thoughts exactly. I would be doing the swap for a hit, though. And isn't the North London Derby known to be a heated affair with goals in it? I seem to recall that wasn't the case last season , though.

Arsenal's run of fixtures between GW13 and GW25 are incredible. Worth keeping the double up if Wally is fit imo.

Looking for confirmation that he's definitely out before ditching

I would assume he is and you most likely won't get confirmation

Really struggling with how to spend my 2FT....

    A) Ozil, Bolasie > Sterling, Lallana
    B) Bolasie > Allen
    C) sort out my non playing subs.

Foster; Bellerin, Vert, A.Smith; Alexis, Ozil, Cout, Antonio, Bolasie; Kun, Deeney

    McAuley, 3 non playing subs.

      Wouldn't be bringing Sterling in?
