Two Swansea City old boys combine to see off the Welshman in the Potteries, as thousands of Fantasy managers profit from the continued form of a certain “number ten”. Here’s the Stock Check from the final Gameweek 10 fixture…

On the Rise

Joe Allen
Two assists sealed a third double-figure haul in the space of five Gameweeks as Allen’s flourishing form continued.

Buzzing around the hold-up play of Wilfried Bony, the 5.1 Fantasy Premier League option twice teamed up with the Ivorian to see off Swansea City.

Over 130,000 FPL managers brought Allen in ahead of Gameweek 10 to earn instant rewards. Given his current form and output, they will feel that he fully justifies a fourth midfielder role in our squads. Certainly, as a fifth midfielder in a 3-5-2, Allen looks destined to deliver.

However, it should be noted that Stoke City have played the current bottom three clubs in their last three outings. The trip to West Ham United could prove trickier for the Potters and Allen – particularly with Marko Arnautovic and potentially Xherdan Shaqiri both absent.

Wilfried Bony
Finally, after seven Premier League starts, Bony has sparked to life having ended his goal drought against his former club.

Priced at 7.3, it was hoped that the Ivorian could provide a mid-price option on his arrival at the bet365 stadium. That could now be the case, although the output currently being provided by Allen will undoubtedly dampen enthusiasm for Bony as an attacking option.

In Decline

Xherdan Shaqiri
Over 94,000 acquired the Swiss international off the back of his 15-point return at Hull City, only to see the playmaker limp from the field on 26 minutes. There’s no news as yet on the nature of the injury or a prognosis.

Marko Arnautovic
Perched on the suspension tightrope before Monday night’s encounter, the Austrian was unable to navigate the 90 minutes and, having received his fifth booking, will now miss the Gameweek 11 trip to West Ham.

With just a goal and an assist this season, Arnautovic has been a bitter disappoint after his 11-goal campaign last time out.

Stephen Kingsley
Brought back in at left-back for the Swansea City clean sheet against Watford last weekend, Kingsley was tonight inexplicably relegated to the reserves with Neil Taylor earning a recall.

With Jordi Amat ousted to the bench in Gameweek 9, it appears that we no longer have a 4.1 option available in the Swansea rearguard – perhaps that’s no major loss on the evidence of Monday night.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not sure what to do here lads, not keen on taking a hit after taking -12 last 2 weeks.

    Mustafi Walker Francis Holebas
    Sanchez Matic Firmino
    Lukaku Aguero Austin

    Jaku Capoue Amat Arnautovic*

Just took a -8 to get Hazard in my team. Sold Arnie (suspended), Bellerin (inj) and Mané to get Coutinho, Francis and Hazard. Not sure if I made the right decision, I guess ill have to wait and see. I have a gut feeling that Mané is going to explode with points eventually, so I just hope Coutinho is the one who sets him up.

    Rest of the team is:

    Grant (Jaku)
    Francis, Gibson, Holebas (Amat, Love)
    Coutinho, Firmino, Hazard, Sanchez (Hojbjerg)
    Aguero, Lukaku, Austin

    0.0 itb

I know the defence is questionable lol. But ill have to sort that out later somehow.

But what about afterwards? You have two non playing defs so have to play double Bournemouth and Holebas every week, terrible defence I'm afraid

Its not double Bournemouth, its MID, Bourne and WAT. Plan on using FT's to replace Gibson next week as the midfield and forwards are looking pretty solid. But ye I agree that is risky situation not having anything on the bench in case of injuries. So high risk and high reward 😉

I'm just kicking myself I got Redmond over him last weekend. I'd be sitting pretty and could enjoy the rises. No way I'm ditching Redmond before Hull though so will reassess next week.

            • 15 Years
            9 years, 5 months ago

Even if he's not a long term keeper he's certainly good enough with nice fixtures, which opens the door up for a cheaper mid permanently if there's more choice from that price range.

I'll see how this weekend goes and then take a look. It will free up a little money to do sterling > haz, which I'm looking at but allen and haz will both has risen another 0.1m each by then. Kind of need Redmond to go crazy this week to catch a rise on him or make me feel better about getting him in.

Annoyingly I didn't even run the comparison tool on Redmond vs allen. I just dismissed allen out of hand like I have done all season.

As a new veteran of mega hits I can testify that if they are being taken to get in one specific player they probably won't work out that well.

2 problems: I really wanted to do Valencia -> Fuchs but can't seem to free up the funds without downgrading, and I have to do the transfers tonight to avoid price changes (before CL games).

I have a dire setup this week
Choice of: Capoue vs liv or Fer vs MUN
    Plus
    Holebas vs liv

So I'm considering a hit to do Fer > Redmond. Southampton's fixtures look great all the way through to February (except Liv GW12 and Spurs 28th Dec).

Though it does use up 1.0m which might be needed for Cout/Firm > Hazard in several weeks if Hazard keeps up this form.

So should I take the hit for Fer > Redmond
    Yay or Nay please.

I'd play Fer over Capoue, but the decision to do Fer > Redmond for a hit is up to you. I'd lean towards doing it.

Does anyone know when we will hear about the Shaqiri injury? Need to decide on dropping him or someone else before prices rise and fall tonight.

Never seen an 'injured' player run off the pitch like that, maybe he had a bad stomach

How good are you at picking your bench each week?

Add up total points left on your bench over the first 10 gameweeks, and divide by the number of players who have played at least 15 minutes (it's probably going to be less than 40!).

    For me ...

    Total points benched = 84
Total players who played at least 15 mins = 28

So on average, my bench players are getting 3 points per game. A high benched PPG means either your bench is really good, or that you're picking the wrong starting XI.

Total points benched: 128. Total players who played 15 or more: 33. Avg 3.88 points.

My starting 11 have an avg of 4.68 (total points divided by 120 to account for captain), which at least is higher.

Nice one. Pretty good really! Looks more like a fairly decent bench

Thanks, most of the points come from Heaton and Capoue, so it's not too bad, I guess. Benched 25 and 26 points the first two weeks, which really hurt, but I got some decent team value out of it.

Monreal or Rose out for Fuchs?

Monreal seems to be dropping in price within the next few days. But understand that Rose may be under rotation risk.

    My defenders:
    Monreal Rose Williams Smith Love

    Thoughts?

Antonio is definitely scoring this week after I transferred him out:

    Pickford (Foster)
Mustafi - Lovren - Willimaas (Amat, Evans)
Sanchez - Sterling - Mane - Lallana (de Roon)
    Aguero - Lukaku - Austin

    0itb, 0ft

Want rid of Sterling, but not for a hit, right?

Not a bad punt. Matic was a playmaker earlier in his career and played like an 8'er, but was since converted to a 6'er. Playing along side Kante in this formation gives him the freedom to get forward.

Given Rashford has achieved literally nada since GW5/6 is it time to give up on him and get someone else in? Potentially Austin?
I have another 0.9 in the bank? What options are there worth considering?

    Heaton
    Mustafi/Fuchs/Stones
    Coutinho/Lallana/Chadli/Walcott
    Rashford/Costa/Aguero

    Foster/Capoue/WIlliams/Amat

His stats seem really good - if that's the case just don't know how we can ignore but how can Pep fit him, KDB, Silva in with Ag and Sterling and Nolito / Navas.

Surely Fernandinho is the DM so only two of KDB / Silva / Gun can play???

I've failed to watch Man City this year. Anyone care to comment on Gundogan for me?
    I'm thinking Capoue & Sterling to Coutiniho&Gundogan

    Current front 8 of:

    Sanchez, Capoue, Firmino, Sterling, Redmond
    Lukaku, Aguero, C. Wilson

    Thanks in advance
