As the hours tick down to another Gameweek deadline, it’s time to delve into the data in our next members article of the week.

We get underway by analysing the main contenders in this week’s Captain Poll, then assess the Opta numbers and Rate My Team rankings before suggesting some differentials to help solve your armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

Sergio Aguero is the runaway winner of this week’s Captain Poll as Man City prepare to host Middlesbrough at the Etihad.

After we’d dared to question his armband credentials, the Argentine returned to form in emphatic fashion, serving up two goals and an assist at the Hawthorns last weekend.

Over 66% of voters are favouring Aguero, who has, somewhat surprisingly, scored just one goal in four home outings. ‘Boro have also stepped up their resilience and roll up on the back of successive clean sheets, including one at the Emirates in their previous road trip.

Kevin De Bruyne could be a deadly differential with just 3% backing. The Belgian has delivered FPL returns in six of nine appearances, though has managed just a goal and two assists at the Etihad.

Philippe Coutinho (5%) takes second spot after upping his consistency in recent weeks.

The Liverpool midfielder entertains Watford in fine form, producing points in four of the last six league outings, and is looking for his third double-figure haul in four at Anfield.

Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are favoured by around 1%.

The former has been more consistent, with a goal or assist in three of the last four, yet Mane’s home displays may be worth considering – he has returned 34 points in four appearances in front of his own fans.

Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard’s recent fine form has failed to convince.

Only 2% are willing to opt for the Chilean ahead of the north London derby. A return to the flank in midweek is a concern for a player who has scored just one of his six goals at the Emirates this season, though he’s expected to lead the line at the expense of Olivier Giroud on Sunday.

Hazard has now netted in three successive Gameweeks and hosts an Everton defence with one clean sheet in six.

Subject to heavy investment this week, the Chelsea wide man been far more reliable at the Bridge – Hazard has scored in four of five top-flight appearances at the Bridge under Antonio Conte.

Chelsea’s run of four straight shut-outs means that less than 1% are prepared to gamble on Romelu Lukaku against his former club, while Diego Costa is also very much overlooked, despite serving up points in eight of the opening 10 Gameweeks.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Any thoughts on this wildcard team? £0.1m in the bank.

    Heaton - Zieler

    Lovren - Evans - Amat - Friend - Pieters

    Haz - Cout - Sanch - Fletch - Gundong

    Kaku - Kun - Rondon

I know Walcott chances of playing has been discussed to death here, but I'm still tempted to ship Walcott to Hazard for a hit. Anyone please put me to my senses and save the -4 ?

I'm keeping. I've got this really strong gut instinct that he will start.

If he blanks the next two we have him for (BOU) GW13.

If he gets returns in the next two, everyone will want him and we are a step ahead of everyone.

Also thinking he starts, but if hamstring not 100% Wenger might want to be cautious given his injury history, Bur otoh he'll want to field his best 11 against Spurs. If he get's rested, and then blanks against United, his price will plummet for sure, so we need him to make up for that in GW13. But then one could also transfer him out and buy him back for same price , at the cost of 1 FT

        1. Sharpe Shuffle

That would cost 2 precious FTs though, no?

Only one for me, as I already used my FT this GW. So the cost would be -4 pts + one FT.

Trained. He will play IMO. Not for a -4, can't see Haz outscoring him by the 4.

If he plays, I'd say potential is about evens this GW including the -4. But then Hazard got the easier fixture GW12, and then Walcott got Bournemouth (h) GW13 while Hazard got Manchester City (A) in GW13.
Have to mention, I got Sanchez as well for Arsenal cover.

I've turned into a very boring player. A few years ago I'd never think about keeping Chadli, would just get rid and keep playing 3-4-3, maybe even take a hit to bring in Fuchs anyway and bench Holebas,

Now I'm thinking of just playing 4-3-3 and riding out the Chadli injury. Not sure my team is good enough to cope but it saves a hit.

Every year I've played I've taken insane hits, including a -20 last season, just because I love switching it up.

This year I wanted to see if I could finish in the top 100k or so. I have to say it is really, really boring not taking hits and methodically planning your moves weeks in advance, scrimping and saving for the odd .1.

Nope, you'd be hoping your replacement gets a CS + Baps to make it positive. Watford prob won't keep a CS but at least Holebas has attacking potential

    3. Pompel

If a decent chance of CS + attacking points, and you plan to keep for the long term, yes. If never taking hit for defenders, your defense will be left to rot, as there always will be priorities up front as well.

Sterling to Hazard is quite tempting but it would have to be for a hit. Can't bring myself to do it before Boro (H)

West Brom fixtures after Leicester looking quite good. Is Brunt worth investing in or go with McAuley or Evans?

Brunt is bargain at this price, already in my team. If McAuley or Evans scored, the assist will go for Brunt(he is on corners and free kicks). Better shoot for the assist than trying to guess the goalscorer 😉

If you need to use it then yeah why not, but I'm saving mine for later on in the season when I might need it

Double GW is the time to use it. Middlesbrough aren't too bad at the back

I think I may have wasted 0.3 in team value by waiting around.
How does this sound for free?

    Benteke --> Austin
    Son --> Gundogan

    Current team looks like

    Foster - Pickford
    Stones - Vertonghen - Amat - Koscielny - Holebas
    Son - Snodgrass - Firmino - Allen - Sanchez
    Aguero - Benteke - Deeney

I would do Deeney to Austin instead to be honest
