Harry Kane has shown perfect timing.

On the day that saw Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku frustrate 40% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Spurs striker stepped up to deliver a first double-figure haul and underline his undeniable potential as a game-changer.

Five goals in his last four Premier League starts, albeit broken up by a spell on the sidelines, indicates that Kane is riding a flow of form that can now see him break up the established template in attack.

A prolific Jermain Defoe and Charlie Austin’s improving fixtures will likely ensure that we retain a mid-price option as a third striker – dismissing the idea of squeezing Kane alongside our present heavy hitters.

That will put the heat on Aguero and Lukaku.

The latter went into Gameweek 12 having already seen his increase in ownership slow following his Stamford Bridge blank. Today’s 2-point return, with 11% backing him with the armband, will no doubt spark sales and, in all likelihood, a first decline in the Belgian’s ownership since Gameweek 3.

It’s difficult to gain confidence from Everton’s schedule.

A trip to a resilient Southampton follows for Gameweek 13, with Goodison Park encounters with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool to follow in the next four.

Lukaku is capable of scoring points in those matches, but can he keep pace with a resurgent Kane?

Despite those doubts, the pressure on Aguero is perhaps even more intense given his price tag, the doubt generated by Guardiola’s tinkering and the seemingly relentless stream of points being delivered by Kevin De Bruyne.

We were ready to fall at Aguero’s feet following his emphatic Hawthorns haul but, two Gameweeks on, the doubts are creeping back.

He let down 29% of FPL managers with the captaincy today and that, against the backdrop of Kane’s brace, will ruffle feathers.

The fee demanded by the Argentine guarantees that we will constantly be fidgeting – he almost has to deliver a goal a game and assure us of consistent returns in order to cement the captaincy and earn his keep.

Turf Moor offers a foreboding venue for Aguero to restore confidence next weekend. Following that, Guardiola’s side will take on Chelsea – Aguero will likely have to earn his opportunities against the Blues’ newly robust defence.

Meanwhile, Kane offers home fixtures with Swansea City, Hull City and Burnley to follow the Gameweek 13 trip to Stamford Bridge.

It’s a scenario that looks perfectly staged.

We bank our transfers, give Lukaku or Aguero next weekend’s run-out and then take action in Gameweek 14 should they falter.

Those trading Aguero can then distribute the significant funds spared – perhaps to consider De Bruyne as a reassuringly expensive midfield option.

Regardless of our current thinking – the masses will now be circling Kane.

With an ownership of just 6%, he provides a potential route back for those managers treading water – a genuinely explosive differential that can be trusted with the armband for that trio of tempting White Hart Lane fixtures.

Those trailing mini-leagues surely have to consider the move, but it’s an unwelcome development for those streaking ahead and settled with a midfield and forward line template. Kane can be a disruptive force that can punish those that sit still.

The bandwagon is moving, and if Costa is the next to slip off the suspension tightrope at the Riverside Stadium, we will need to brace ourselves for some major acceleration.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Your team looks very good for next week. If you for some reason want to get rid of Lukaku, Lukaku > Anichebe + Fletcher > 9.0 mid ish are possible moves. This also gives you the option to switch between 3-4-3 and 3-5-2.

      Id hold and do Sanchez and Lukaku to Walcott and Kane next week. And some left over for defence upgrade week after.

    Walker, Fuchs, Holebas. Evans, Amat
    Sanchez,Walcott, Coutinho, Firmlno, Allen
    Kun, Lukaku, Austin
    2FT 0.0M ITB

    A) Walker->VVD, save 1 FT
    B) Walker, Allen, Lukaku->VVD, Hazard, Anchie (-4)
    C) Lukaku, Walcott->Kane, Chadli

    On A atm. No rush to get Kane in just yet and quite like the idea of 3-5-2 with a super midfield of Hazard, Firmino, Couts, Walcott and either Sanchez or KDB . Thoughts?

    City's fixtures are more difficult than I thought they were

    Burnley and Leicester away can be tricky games
    Arsenal and Chelsea at home

    Which leaves only Watford at home as a good game to captain a City player imo. Might look at selling Aguero after all...

          Was at the game today, Clyne was such a good outlet, he may assist more soon.

          Lovren got sooooo much stick, was quite funny actually. Both sets of fans had good banter. Seems solid option at that price.

          Liverpool don't defend well and fill me with confidence - But if they have as much of the play as they did today, there is no defending to do!

    Pickford (Mandanda - need to ship)
    McAuley, Alonso, Smith/Barragan
    Hazard, Firmino, Coutinho, Redmond/Allen (suspended)
    Lukaku, Austin, Costa

    0 FT £4.8m ITB

    Ideally:
    -4 Redmond ---> Chadli (for next two GW)
    Then:
    Chadli ---> KDB
    -4 Austin ---> Anichebe

    After those moves I'd have £2.1m ITB (if no price changes).

    I like the idea of that midfield for the rest of the season, but not too sure about the attack. Maybe having a floating attacker is a good idea though?

    Anichebe shouldn't even be a consideration until after next GW (Liverpool AWAY) yet already everyone is drafting him in. Frustrating.

    1. Rhinos
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

      Why, it's not a bad fixture for attackers

      1. JohnnyMagrinho
        9 years, 8 months ago

        Because it's Sunderland. Yes they've picked up with some positive results but against Liverpool, away from home, that's just not going to be an easy fixture.

        Sunderland have a woeful midfield, let's be honest. I know Liverpool aren't defensively imperious but they're looking less fragile at the back.

        Statistically speaking you might say they'd get one goal tops - I just thinking bringing him in for something that's not statistically likely of happening is odd.

        Saying that, next GW fixtures look pretty poor for top strikers. Looks like Man Utd is the best place to go, just depends whether it'll be Rashford up top or Ibra.

        1. Rhinos

          1. JohnnyMagrinho
            9 years, 8 months ago

            Do you not think Redmond to Chadli makes more sense?
            Then bring in Anichebe for Austin the following week. Following that I could bring in KDB for Chadli the week after.

            The only issue is, if KDB increases in price then I'll HAVE to downgrade either Lukaku or Austin.

            If Chadli is fit, he can do some serious damage in the next couple of fixtures - Hull (A) & Watford (H)

    I can do Lukaku to Kane for a FT tonight (leaving 0 ITB) but will need to take a hit (probably shifting Coleman) if I wait. Not 100% convinced by the transfer (probably 85%), esp given CL mid week, but it feel like I need to do it right?

      If you're that sure then yeah... wouldn't be too optimistic on returns from Kane next week though at Chelsea.

    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso Rose* Fuchs Williams Love
    Hazard Firm Cout Gundogan Allen*
    Kun Luk Stuani

    Planning to do Rose to Lovern

    Any thoughts on who I should sub out urgently? Willing to take a -4 this week. Thanks.

      Can you afford to just make the 2nd move this week then bring Kane in next week? Avoid the hit when both have tough fixtures.

    Evening all,

    What a rediculously low scoring week ! Fuchs subbed on 67 minutes, any view on why? I'm guessing it's due to champ league on Tuesday? I'm regretting bringing him in a couple of weeks back, plan to ditch for Alonso in GW15.

    Smith for Holebas or Cedric ? Cedric looked dangerous today

      Was lucky not to be sent off. Subbed due to chasing game.

    Kane (3-4-3) or Sanchez (3-5-2)?

    Kun, Allen, Gun ---> Kane, Ozil, Capoue?

      Allen is surely your 5th MID, right? He's surely most people's, so everybody transferring him out because he's banned for next week seems pointless and a waste of a FT to me. Don't you think?
