Regrets come hand-in-hand with Fantasy Football – if you get through the season without one, you’re either extremely fortunate or you just don’t care enough. Either way, you’re unlikely to be reading this.

Most of us of come to terms with them, have learnt to ride them out and plough on regardless but, even I’ve got to admit, Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 stung a bit.

Thankfully, with Sergio Aguero harbouring his own regrets, my path to sheepishly welcome Sanchez back into the fold is signposted rather clearly.

The Sanchez wounds and the Aguero fall-out dominate this week’s ScoutCast, which also marks a debut for moderator and long-time community member AZ. He steps in with Granville tangled in political red tape to join Jonty, Andy and myself for a lengthy and lively episode.

We gripe about the volatile market, quiver in fear at the idea of the “Titan teams” and, of course, preview the weekend with a scattering of statistics, speculation and pure guesswork.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

They might on form but have struggled with clean sheets. We all have at least one gk or defender from West Brom and we know defenders can score but clean sheets they have struggled

Unfortunately they always to to let in that single late goal. Have been unlucky at times.

If you can bench/rotate for GW 15, 17-19 and 21 long term fixtures are pretty decent until gw 27.

McAuley for example isn't even the worst to play in the tough games, as I would assume Pulis will continue to try and get any goals primarily froms set pieces.

      1. Lizard Lips
        • 14 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

I'm considering a -8 to bring him in and Anichibe! Means playing those 2 instead of Pieters and Fletcher so could recoup the hits straight away only thing stopping me is how long would I want Anichibe for!

        1. Licious Lizard
          • 13 Years
          9 years, 8 months ago

Just not that fond of having Anichebe up front. I know it is "just" a hit or two to get him out, but at that price you don't have a lot of flexibility.

Alonso is a great option yes, but 6.3m for a defender is a lot. 1.5m-ish more than other good long term options as Cedric, McAuley etc.

Could be a big mistake, but I am trying to go without him.

          1. Lizard Lips
            • 14 Years
            9 years, 8 months ago

I'm going without as well, I think! For the same reasons. Can't bring Anichibe in as he could turn sour at anytime! Just hope Chelsea conceed. Concerned Alonso has a few double digit scores in him over Christmas 🙁 !

            1. Licious Lizard
              • 13 Years
              9 years, 8 months ago

              Exactly.

Yeah they probably will although West Brom, Sunderland and Palace all pretty good attacking form at the moment, so hopefully it won't another run of back to back clean sheets for them.

I basically decided to go without him until GW 25 if I ever want to bring him in.

    2. Shultan
      • 10 Years

Me too, i just couldn't bring myself to do koscielny to alonso for a hit!
Knowing my luck arsenal will concede whilst alonso gets clean sheet & assist/goal

      1. bigbudgie
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

could easily be the other way around. Defo not worth a hit this week
I just know if I sell Kos Arsenal go on a run of clean sheets and Chelsea start to look less solid. Still think it's worth it for Alonso attacking potential.

    3. bigbudgie

Kos > Alonso for me next week

    4. Misery Loves Kompany
      • 12 Years

Still time to get on board... he's 6.3... look what that gets you in comparative Arsenal or Spurs cover and you'll see he's still good value.

Also I don't quite know how but he's still owned by less than 7%?!?

Barring injury he'll be nudging >7.0m by the end of the season and possibly the highest scoring DEF in the game, imo.

      1. Licious Lizard
        • 13 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

I agree he will be one of the top scoring defenders if he keeps this up.

Just thinking if you can spend the money better elsewhere with two good rotating 4.5m defs. It is almost a Zaha -> Siggy for example.

Not saying it will pay off, but I think a lot of people who missed the 6 straight CSs have a feeling they missed the boat. Illogical, but finding the money to bring him in is tough - especially for people like me who have had Coutinho, Aguero and Austin replacements to deal with.

      2. Misery Loves Kompany
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

One goal (and he has been close on more than one occasion!) and with associated bonus, he'll more than likely top the DEF rankings...

Once that happens and he ends up on the casual radar... you just watch that price go into orbit. THEN it will be too late.

        Season keeper for me.

I am thinking Defoe for the long term for Austin. This mean it will be harder to shoehorn Sanchez into my team.

    Heaton
    Alonso / Cedric / Pieters
    Hazard / Sigurðsson / Snodgrass / Firmino
    Costa / 10.5** / Kane

Pickford / McAuley / De Roon / Friend

Right-o, here's my WC team as it stands now, please bear in mind my TV/SV was atrocious so have had to make sacrifices.

Have 0.2 ITB and contemplating further moves, being that I now have Anichebe should I get Can in for a my fifth mid instead of Capoue? Any thoughts most welcome.

    Foster Jaku
    Alonso Cedric Holebas Amat Ake
    Sanchez Hazard Siggy Lallana Capoue
    Costa Kane Anichebe

    Cheers

      Looks very decent.
Personally I would just get De Roon for 4.3 instead of Capoue and bank the cash

Allows for a possible switch from Siggy/lallana to the 8m mids should the need arise

Yeah could be handy and would leave enough ITB to transfer Costa to Ibra if he gets a 5th YC, that would probably mean playing Anichebe every week though

      Looks good.

Lose Jaku and Capoue for Pickford + De Roon/Fer/Matic/Can.
Also not sure if Amat + Ake is too much of a risk at the back.

Yeah defintely a bit of a risk there, Amat seemingly nailed again but who really knows

The commentator on BT (not sure who) said he played with him in a game once when it happened, he popped it back in and carried on.

Austin could miss 5+. Based on his history, he's likely to be out for a few weeks, and fixture congestion is heavy now.

Why do I still think Firmino(C) could be grand? Flipping between him and Costa.

I have a feeling about Firmino this week but I'm not brave enough. Going with Defoe instead.

After everyone buying him in, Sanchez blank is almost inevitable

Defoe would be my pick too if I had him

    2. Jay_
      9 years, 8 months ago

Goals imminent table, free scoring attack v terrible defence. Top 3 on the poll up against tight defences. Everything logically would say Firmino, except the main thing, form. Could be a massive green if Stoke and WBA shut out. Imagine the buzz on the last game Sunday watching him get a haul as your Cap, after all the favourites already failed.

So, all you unlucky Austin owners, who are you getting to replace him? Origi? Iheanacho? Defoe? Switching to 3-5-2? And what's the long-term plan if you go 'Nacho or Origi?

    1. Licious Lizard

      Actually thinking Carroll 🙂

      1. Pierce34
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

Would be a nice differential if it works out. I was thinking that if I owned Austin the injury would be a nice excuse to punt on someone else - he hasn't exactly been lighting it up.

        1. Licious Lizard
          • 13 Years
          9 years, 8 months ago

Yep. Feels like a big punt, but I think it couldd pay of with those fixtures is he starts regularly. and at 6.1m .

Austin has been a bit disappointing, but I was expecting him to flourish a bit with the upcoming fixtures. Probably not relevant now though :/

    Pickford [Boruc]
    Koscielny Walker Lovren [Smith Amat]
    Sanchez Firmino Pedro Allen [Marney]
    Kane Costa Iheanacho

I have 2.1 to spend, probably to replace Allen

    Ideas?
