Kasper Schmeichel will be assessed ahead of Leicester City’s visit to Stoke. Younes Kaboul is back in contention as Watford makes their way to Sunderland, though Palace look set to be without James Tomkins until the middle of next month.

Here’s the news from the pre-Gameweek 17 press conferences so far…

Roberto Pereyra and Stefano Okaka have been ruled out of Watford’s encounter with Sunderland, though Younes Kaboul is back in contention.

Kasper Schmeichel is back in training and could be in line for a return from a recent hand injury. Claudio Ranieri will make a late assessment on his number one and will also check Danny Drinkwater’s knee complaint ahead of the trip to Stoke City.

Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser is set for scans on an ankle complaint. Eddie Howe has confirmed that Callum Wilson was checked for concussion and has been cleared, though the striker remains a slight doubt for the visit of Southampton after being forced off in midweek with blurred vision.

Dieumerci Mbokani returns to the Hull squad for the weekend trip to Spurs after serving a three-match ban.

Aaron Ramsey is close to returning from injury but remains unavailable for Arsenal’s trip to Man City. Arsene Wenger has also revealed that Danny Welbeck is expected to step up his recovery from injury by returning to training next week.

Jason Puncheon is available for Palace’s clash with Chelsea after serving a one-match ban. Alan Pardew has conceded that James Tomkins is expected to be sidelined until mid-January.

Mark Hughes expects both Marc Muniesa and Eric Pieters to recover from minor problems in time for tomorrow’s visit of Leicester. Marko Arnautovic starts the first of a three-match ban, while Ibrahim Afellay will step up his recovery from a knee injury with a run out for the reserves later today.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.

We’ve a busy ahead, with this handy hot topic by Ozil highlighting the scheduled times for the remaining press conferences.

Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Amongst our main concerns are Eden Hazard, who missed Chelsea’s midweek trip to Sunderland with a knock, while we’re also eagerly awaited for news on Divock Origi – the most transferred in forward for the Gameweek, he picked up a knock towards the end of Liverpool’s win at Middelsbrough.

Pep Guardiola’s afternoon conference is also on the agenda as we wait for word on a potentially season-ending knee injury to Ilkay Gundogan.

Thoughts on my team please. I've used my FT to get Alonso in. Traore ahead of Nacho?

    Courtois
    Clyne Pieters Alonso
    Sigurdsson Eriksen Sanchez
    Costa Kane Nacho

    Pickford McAuley Traore Stones

Leave Nacho, rather him if he plays and if not u have Traore, have him as first sub

    2FT, 0.1ITB

    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso Walker Smith (Holebas McCauley)
    Sanchez Mane Siggy Lallana (Capoue)

Strangely, nothing stands out but considering
    A) Downgrade Capoue to do Walker -> Azpi
    B) Mane to Eriksen
    C) Kane to Ibra

As an idiot FPL manager who doesn't own a Chelsea defender, I'm a little bit worried that Chelsea's clean sheets will dry up simply because they have had so many.

It's a bit like expecting red on the roulette table for the 10th time in a row.

I know it's irrational, but is anyone else who is coming late to the Chelsea defenders party worried about the law of big numbers catching up with them?

forget about the past events, weigh it up on the probability of future events.

    4. Dynamo Chicken

The law of large numbers only applies to random events - like tossing a coin.
There is nothing random about Chelsea's defensive returns and the improvement with Kante being added to the squad.

      Double up to catch up.

        Good advice, thanks.

Although I am told that the odds of flipping a coin tails or heads ten times in a row are not 50/50 each time, as most people believe.

Tossing a coin is an individual event, so 50/50.

It's not 50/50 but it's the same probability of any other combination of 10 outcomes

he's saying it's not 50/50 in one event, not overall.
The probability of each combination isn't the same, not remotely!

Think I have ruled out Kane as a captaincy option. There's something not right with him. His stats are very poor and dwarfed by Eriksen. He was subbed off at 70 minutes last game which is quite strange for Kane? Seems to be playing a different role and lacking confidence.

So now it's between Eriksen and Costa.

(watch Kane score a hat trick now)

The blank was frustrating and he needs a haul this week to convince longer term, but he was a stud's length away from tapping in ahead of Eriksen's 2nd goal. If he's scored that no one would be worrying about this weekend, or captaining him

Ifs and buts, of course, but I'm confident he'll get points this weekend.

Right, I think Firmino to Lallana is too side ways and I've missed the rises now.

My options (in order of slight preference) are:

    1. Payet (HUL, swa, lei)
    2. Eriksen (BUR, sou, wat)

So what do you guys predict these 3 players will get from their next 3 games?

My view on Kane is he always starts slowly after a lay off. Sure he might get points from pens or whatever but after a few games and his match fitness is up to speed you start to see him back to his best. Wether that will be this weekend or not only time will tell.

How many penalties has Kane scored this season? Worried about his actual goal scoring, has he recovered form his Euro slump?

Eriksen is a better player, playing in a better team and in better form.

Is it worth a -8 for

    Mane > Lallana
    Hazard > Eriksen
    Benteke > Costa

    Team is

    Boruc Pickford
    Alonso Vertonghen Mcauley Holebas Amat
    Alexis Hazard Mane Siggy Allen
    Kane Benteke Anichebe

No way. Mane could outscore Lallana this week, Hazard looks like he'll be fit (we'll know at 1pm). Costa obvs better than Benteke but too much upheaval for a -8 for me.

May give you a net gain this weekend, but you'll be worse off next week imo.

Lol :)..wanted Costa in my team and Eriksen most likely to get another haul this gw..and Lallana is a good value. That's why I was tempted...but i think I will stick and just swap tekkers with Carroll just for the next few fixtures..

      How about a -4 with

      Benteke > Carroll &
      Siggy > Eriksen..

I know Swansea have some some great fixtures coming up..so but Eriksen seems like an essential now..or is it all just madness chasing points??

Jones been United's best defender for the past 5-6 games. Would be a big surprise if he was dropped over Rojo. Bailly will come back into the team, but maybe not until after AFCON.

I was one of the first to look at Jones when he was £4.7m. Came close, but Decided against it in the end. Smalling being back soon worried me.

Time for a keeper change? Current choice is Foster (MUN) or Heaton (tot). Tempted by Foster to Grant and play the latter (LEI)? Also frees up some cash...

Iheanacho, Firmino, Allen, Pieters, Cedric, Amat
(Amat last simply because he currently plays 90, for 4.1)
