After Jay Rodriguez guided Southampton to a 3-1 win at the Vitality, we’re treated to a couple of 4pm encounters that may well have a significant impact on the Fantasy Premier League standings.

Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen are heavily backed to get the better of Burnley at the Lane.

The in-form pair have each scored twice in two of their last three home appearances, earning first and third place in our Gameweek 17 Captain Poll respectively.

Frustratingly, our Scout Pick Toby Alderweireld misses out with a minor back problem, though we’ll have an eye on Spot the Differential candidate Danny Rose against a Clarets outfit with a single goal to their name on the road so far.

Man City and Arsenal square up at the Etihad in the other match.

Alexis Sanchez seeks a fifth double-figure away haul against a City defence that’s been far from convincing, with just three clean sheets to their name so far.

With the Gunners now poised for some excellent upcoming fixtures, a big performance from Theo Walcott could persuade some Sanchez owners he is worth a double-up option.

Sergio Aguero remains suspended for City, with Pep Guardiola once again benching the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and John Stones.

Kevin De Bruyne is the man most likely for the home side, though the Belgian’s run of 10 league appearances without a goal has left him on the Fantasy periphery.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

another red flag - 6 in a row

I'll admit captaincy was a punt but Kane was VC so no different

But seriously without taking further hits was this side so bad for this week?

    Pickford (good)

Toby-Alonso-A.Smith (OOP Saints not scoring away from home)

Haz-Sanchez-Siggy-Can (praying not fit so De Roon comes in)

Costa-Carroll (c) (it was Hull FFS)- Kane (13pts,13 pts, 4pts (c) last3 home games) (against Burnley who aren't good away from home).

37pts. so far. Same side 42pts midweek GW rank 2.8m.
Worse run in 7 years playing. down nearly 650k in 6 GWs

P*ss takers need not apply. Anyone genuinely see where I'm going wrong?

You're going wrong in thinking the most rational decision should always be the correct one. Yeah you had a bad week, but it wasn't disastrous.

Format not helping a reply but Can and DeRoon are too weak to share fourth mid spot.
I punted on Carroll too and will be stuck with him for awhile. Carroll still has fixtures so might come good hold.
You are not alone in expecting more from Kane.

see again when I brought in Can had 5 PPG (3 goals and an assist) over 5 GWs -so not poor stats for any 4th mid regardless of price.

Pretty much in the same boat. I have finished top 10000 the last few seasons. This year I am doing everything wrong. Whatever formula I used in the past just isn't working.

    5. Pep bites Kun
      • 9 Years

I think what you're doing (and I'm the same) is not using form, but at the same time taking a weak team as an indicator of possible success. I did Payet in for Walcott. It's Hull FFS! Now in any other time-frame that would have worked, but Payet and WH don't have form on their sides so I'm guilty on both counts. Same as my Kane Captaincy - It was v Costa. The consistent choice is Costa, but I chose Kane on opposition and 'past' form (he has to come good some time) and he will, just not at the time WE predict. So FORM and fixtures is what we need to focus on. For the first 15 weeks I was ahead, then got cocky 🙂 and subconsciously started taking chances, when all I needed was 'more of the same'.

      - Hope that helps ...

Absolutely chuffed with decision last night to do Kane & Alli > Ibra & Lallana (2FTs) before they both rose. Spurs look out of sorts, would be wrecked if it weren't for their fullbacks at the moment.

I know Lallana could get injured, but having seen Spurs, I'm happy to be rid of Kane, and happy to have Ibra with 2 home games amongst other good fixtures. Didn't mean to sound complacent, just pleased a gamble seems likely to have paid off, don't take too many that's all.

I really wonder if playing 4 or 5 at the back could be a good option for a while. Chelsea defenders are getting clean sheets and the likes of Brunt, Walker, Rose and Alonso can easily get as many points in a given gamesweek as many of the mid-range (and even premium) mids and forwards.
