The Gameweek 22 captain poll is likely to be dominated by players from London clubs, with all three of Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs boasting the form and fixtures to endorse their assets.

At the start of the season, Spurs’ trip to Manchester City would have been marked down as a daunting prospect for Mauricio Pochettino’s men. But, on current form, Spurs on-fire trio Dele Alli (8.7), Christian Eriksen (8.7) and Harry Kane (11.1) will all be backed to return points to contest for the captaincy.

Pep Guardiola’s side were in disarray in Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Everton and will surely struggle to repel a Spurs attack that have scored an impressive 14 goals over their last four outings.

Kane’s hat-trick against West Brom means he now has six goals in the last four Gameweeks and may even see him challenge for top spot in our poll.

Unsurprisingly, more than 77,000 FPL managers have swooped for the Spurs striker ahead of Gameweek 22, as the fall-out from Diego Costa’s absence at Leicester City rolls on.

Eriksen is also a strong contender on the back of a 10-point haul in Saturday’s rout of the Baggies – his sixth double-digit return in nine Gameweeks.

Alli’s away form is also difficult to overlook: he has registered six goals on the road, more than both Kane and Eriksen.

In contrast, City’s Sergio Aguero (12.8) seems unlikely to tussle at the top of this week’s poll, yet, with 11 goals this term, it could be dangerous to underestimate the 22.1% owned Argentine.

Alexis Sanchez (11.9) remains the pick of Arsenal’s assets ahead of an Emirates meeting with travel-sick Burnley.

Away from home, the Clarets have just one clean sheet and conceded 20 goals, indicating that the 36.9% owned Chilean will be granted ample opportunity to continue a run that has seen him return points in eight of the last nine Gameweeks.

Elsewhere in the Gunners’ camp, an ankle injury picked up by striker Olivier Giroud (8.7) in Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Swansea City will likely temper interest in the Frenchman.

Mesut Ozil (9.5) may prove a popular alternative, however.

The German returned an assist on his comeback at the Liberty Stadium and has scored five times so far this term.

Chelsea’s obliging Gameweek 22 fixture finds them hosting a Hull City side that has shipped 24 goals on the road and earned a solitary clean sheet.

Diego Costa’s (10.4) role in Sunday’s contest remains in doubt and that is likely to see our attentions drawn to other options on Antonio Conte’s teamsheet.

On the back of just one goal and an assist in the last seven matches, Eden Hazard (10.4)’s recent performances may count against him. However, with seven of his nine goals arriving at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian remains a strong contender for returns.

Pedro (7.0) has been added to the poll on the back of two goals and an assist in four, offering a cut-price alternative to the 33.5% owned Hazard.

Pedro has returned in five of his last six home starts, providing four goals and five assists.

Liverpool and Manchester United may have battled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday, but both have far stronger Gameweek 22 fixtures.

The Reds face Swansea City at Anfield, with Paul Clement’s side having conceded 22 times on the road, with 18 goals shipped in their last six Gameweeks.

That should attract high interest in Liverpool’s attacking midfielders Roberto Firmino (8.4), Adam Lallana (7.7) and Philippe Coutinho (8.3). The latter is expected to earn his first start in Gameweek 22, following a long injury lay-off and two substitute appearances.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.6)’s remarkable consistency should also garner plenty of votes.

The Swede travels to Stoke City having provided yet another goal in Sunday’s stalemate: he has registered attacking returns in nine of his last ten Gameweeks.

Everton’s Romelu Lukaku (9.5) also presents a convincing case. He scored a third goal in four outings against Manchester City on Sunday and travels to face a Crystal Palace outfit that continue to toil under Sam Allardyce.

The Eagles have conceded eight goals and have failed to earn a clean sheet since the former England manager took the reins.

Among the differential options, Bournemouth’s Junior Stanislas (5.2) once again provides an enticing option.

Owned by just 2.9%, the midfielder’s spot-kick against Hull City confirmed his status behind first choice taker Callum Wilson, as he prepares to host a Watford side that has shipped 19 goals on their travels.

West Brom duo Matt Phillips (5.8) and Salomon Rondon (6.8) have the home form to make them intriguing alternatives for the armband.

Sunderland arrive at The Hawthorns having failed to pick up a clean sheet away from home and have also conceded more headed attempts than any other side this season.

That will surely hand Phillips the opportunity to add to his four assists already accrued on home turf.

Backers of the 8.8% owned Rondon will also be optimistic he can expose a frail Black Cats backline to find a sixth home goal of the campaign.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later this week when we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering an analysis of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

What to do IF Evans & Giroud will be out?

    A) ake -> chambers (to filed 3 defs) for -4
    B) giroud -> defoe for -4
    C) evans, giroud -> baines, rondon for -8
    D) field 2 defs and play Fletcher

Hello, couldn't focus on the GW this time due to work - so completely missed the Costa news :/

Has there been any update on his possibility of inclusion next GW, or is shipping him off the best thing to do asap - before his price drops EVEN further down?

Guys, really confused here. Will appreciate any/all help.

    So, team is
    Heaton Grant
    Alonso Brunt Jones McAuley Friend
    Hazard Sanchez Philips Snodgrass Allen
    Ibrahimovic Kane Gray

Somehow, ended up with both Brunt and McAuley. Need one of either Rose or Walker.
Now, I can do it by this
    Gray to Crouch
    McAuley to Rose/Walker
Also, if I get Crouch in, would like to get rid of Allen.
Then, can do Allen to Stanislas.
Won't mind taking a hit as I did pretty good this gameweek.
Have almost exact funds to do this. Considering price rise/falls.

I always think of it in simple terms - is the player you are getting in better than the player you are getting out.

      Stanislas is better than Allen.

      Rose/Walker are better than McAuley

Crouch and Gray are much of a muchness. Crouch good if you are happy with a non playing third striker when Stoke get a proper one in.

Do the two but leave Allen a week. No need to take a hit on Stan this week imo.

    4. Alnair

I think you're ideal move is a straight-forward Snodgrass/Allen to Mirallas. I think Lukaku would take too much effort to get in from your current team and that defense is actually pretty good for the next 6 fixtures or so.

        Thanks for the help everyone.
Yes, defense is okay for the time being, just the one WBA defender would be enough I think.
It comes down to Crouch really as I have no other option in that range.

Will, i think all your ideas are correct and although i like a gamble (have gone -20 and -12 so far for big weeks) with the fixtures like they are i think you can gain more with patience. you've got two from def, no point in doing that with spurs away imo, play them both, may not come off but at least haven't take hits. also both are dangerous going forward against a really poor defence. If you have a FT and the money do allen to stan id say

Thanks Gunner, I was thinking along the same lines as well.
Also, based my decisions on what Jonty said above as I compared player to player.
Even though I do like to wait to make my transfers, but these price rises/falls really make it difficult. Missed out on quite a few occasions this season by slightest of margins as I don't like to take players or drop them based just on their rise/fall.
This is my first FPL season anyway, so, don't dwell on it too much...

he's still a 6m player with over 6PPG (even before saturday).
A similar midfielder or striker would be considered a success.
Mids/strikers with over 6PPG are going to cost you 8.7m + atm.

      Utterly essential even at 6.5.

He's basically (due to how much Hazard roams) a left winger who gets CS points, which considering the amount of Chelsea clean sheets, is not to be sniffed at.

Already top scoring defender despite not playing the first 5/6 games of the season. Will be the top defender come season end by quite a margin, assuming he stays injury free. Attacking threat off the scale for a defender.

Probably the best value player in the game for me.

Both guys ahead in my mini league have Kane. Not owning him is giving me knightmares.

Only way to get him in is to Giroud > Kane and Coutinho > Stanislas which just seems silly with Coutinho facing Swansea and Giroud against Burnley, although both possible won't start. Leaves me with this if I make the transfers:

    Heaton
    Rose Baines Brunt
    Sanchez Alli Phillips Stanislas
    Ibra Kane Lukaku

Sunderland conceding the most headed chances my factor in that decision. Likely to ditch them both next week for one of Kane or Lukaku

Great looking team? Do you still have all out attack? I wouldn't want Defoe on the bench.

No used it already. I understand where everyone is coming from but I'm going to give Rondon a chance before probably ditching both the following gameweek. Sunderland defence a major factor for me

If Chelsea didnt have Hull at home next I'd be all over this:

    Kun+Carroll+Hazard > Kane+Lukaku+Coutinho for a -4

i did great last 2 gws without sanchez 79/ 98 points
if i will get him it means no funds to upgrade giroud

What about Pogba makes you want him?

i mean regardless of last night match (pogba)i guess he can do assist and goal
so u think grab sanchz and keep giroud -4
        or sanchez & defoo -8
        or what?

How does this WC draft look? I'm wondering whether lack of CHE attack might harm me down the line...

    Heaton (Jakupovic)
    Alonso, Rose, Baines (Chambers, Amat)
Sanchez, Alli, Lallana, Phillips (De Roon)
    Ibrahimovic, Kane, Defoe

Not ideal him being there but can't dump anyone else really.
I expect better from City. Can't see them being kept scoreless 2 games in a row. Had a few near misses v Everton.

    Foster
    Evans Azpi Alonso
    Eriksen Lallana Allan Sanchez
    Aguero Ibra Rondon

    Ake Amat DeRoon Jaku

    1FT

I have no clue what I'm doing. Evans isn't giving me cleans or goals and I feel like Allan needs changing but I can't find a swap that works.
-Also need to diversify my defence now ake's moved

Any suggestions of the best way to get Lukaku in? With 0.6 in the bank the best route I can see is:

Pieters, Snodgrass & Benteke to Yoshida, De Roon & Lukaku, -4.

Team as it stands before transfers:

    Foster
    Alonso, Jones, Chambers
    Sanchez (c), Hazard, Firmino, Chadli
    Kane, Benteke, Carroll

    Subs: Heaton, Snodgrass, Pieters, Amat

Hazard and Firmino are both likely to go in the next few weeks but I can't sell either with home fixtures against Hull and Swansea this weekend.

Pieters and Snodgrass both and have a bit of a tough run which is why I'm looking at selling these as they are likely to be benched most weeks in the next 4/5.

6 out of my last 7 transfers have all scored a goal directly after I bring them in.

    GW16 Eriksen = 19 points
    GW17 Origi = 2 points
    GW18 Ibra = 15 points
    GW19 Phillips = 13 points
    GW20 Brunt = 8 points
    GW21 Defoe = 6 points

Anybody else have a remarkable run like that and how long did it last?

Think it's 6 out of my last 7 that didn't score, Crouch breaking the dry spell this week though! Who are you bringing in next week?? 😀

Walker but I am happy with my front 7 so not expecting him to score.

Pedro if I could find a space.

I'm buying Phillips and Lukaku, so if they can continue what Crouch started, you'll have some Phillips points as well 😀

    1) Why didn't David Marshall play? Is Jakupovic the real deal for basement keeper?

    2) Is Brunt worth the .2 over McAuley?Worth it on a free trade if nothing pressing?

Let's me honest on 1). You're not playing him the next four fixtures and Marshall could be back by then if Jaku throws in a howler or two. Good to have an unexpected bonus of two starting keepers though.

    Quick one - good/bad idea ?

Selling Eriksen and Kane for -4 for just one fixture (next, v Man City), to be able to get in Coutinho (v Swansea - might even captain him) and Lukaku (v a terrible Palace).

Fully aware that Spurs could easily score a hat-full against City but just feel the need to be involved somehow against Swasea and Palace defenses and City will probably be a tough fixture...!

I'd get Eriksen back for his next, away at Sunderland (ditching Coutinho) and make a call on either keeping Lukaku (away to Stoke) or get Kane back for Sunderland...

    Mad plan/ good plan?

*Big Sanchez sized hole in my team - any advice on how I could get him in would be deadly!!

    Heaton
    Jones, Alonso, Baines
    Hazard, Eriksen, Puncheon, Stanislas
    Ibra, Kane, Rondon

    Foster, Livermore, Evans, Amat
