Aaron Ramsey is ruled out of Arsenal’s clash with Chelsea and Olivier Giroud requires a late fitness test. Bournemouth’s Charlie Daniels is still sidelined for a trip to Everton, while Virgil van Dijk could be out for up to three months with an ankle injury.

Olivier Giroud and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are set for late fitness tests ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Chelsea, though Arsene Wenger expects both to be available. Aaron Ramsey is ruled out for three weeks with a calf complaint.

Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson has been ruled out for the season after suffering knee ligament damage in training. Charlie Daniels is also unavailable for the trip to Goodison, though Max Gradel is back in contention after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Calum Chambers has a chance of returning for Middlesbrough’s clash with Spurs, though Gaston Ramirez and George Friend are still unavailable.

Virgil van Dijk has been ruled out for two to three months with an ankle complaint, while James Ward-Prowse and Jay Rodriguez will continue to be assessed ahead of Southampton’s clash with West Ham, Claude Puel has confirmed. Meanwhile, cub-record signing Manolo Gabbiadini looks in line for a debut after arriving from Napoli on transfer deadline day.

Xherdan Shaqiri remains sidelined for Stoke’s clash with West Brom, while Glen Johnson is expected to miss out again. Wilfried Bony and Mame Biram Diouf are back in the squad after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Leon Britton is back in training and comes into contention for Swansea’s trip to the Etihad. New signing Jordan Ayew won’t be available, though, as he is still turning out for Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sunderland new boys Bryan Oviedo and Darron Gibson will be “in and around the squad” for the trip to Palace, David Moyes has confirmed. Papy Djilobodji serves the second of a four-match suspension.

Steven Defour is sidelined for Burnley’s trip to Watford due to a hamstring problem. New boys Robbie Brady and Ashley Westwood are both available to make their debuts, Sean Dyche has confirmed.

Marco Silva has confirmed that new signings Alfred N’Diaye and Kamil Grosicki are available for Hull’s home encounter against Liverpool. Dieumerci Mbokani is also in contention after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, though Lazar Markovic cannot play against his parent club.

Does that make him a born again virgin? Can't say I'm surprised since he's in the same league as Jesus.

100k fantasy managers have transferred in Gabriel Jesus this week - actually, in the space of just one and a half days.

Now, depending on which camp you're in, your opinion is going to be either; "That's a very short term move, don't they know about the blanks?!" or "Did you see him play v West Ham?!! The lad looks awesome and Man City are clicking right now ahead of Swansea and Bournemouth".

There looks to be a very real split on here of those jumping onboard and those not even considering because they're focused on GW26 and 28. Just take a look at Lukaku's net transfers this round (a player that is similarly priced to Jesus); while 28k have transferred him in, another 25k have transferred him out. I'd like to see one of the Scouts have faith in Jesus so that this site is truly representative of the community (it would also be a great Scoutcast discussion).

In the past, perhaps Mark or Granville would make the maverick move while Jonty plays it more strategically, but seeing that Jonty is already well prepared for the blanks, is Jesus a luxury move that he might make??

I'd also like to know if those transferring out Giroud and dismissing Jesus, saw the West Ham game or to a lesser degree, the Crystal Palace match in the FA Cup? Watching that game it struck me a bit like that Vardy performance last year where Mark and Jonty both immediately transferred him in.

A little tongue in cheek with Costa's comment, but yep, I hold the view that Martial looks like he's playing in 3rd gear most of the time. He's been dropped hasn't he?

I think he's referring to the hype surrounding Martial's debut and what followed for those who knee jerked him in.

just posted on previous page, I was in the lucky position to be able to punt on him for the next 3, then either bench or transfer him to carroll if I really want an extra player in gw28, I don't think pep will change the momentum that's building (wenger would, welbecketc) so even if aguero comes back in he will try to accommodate jesus as well

      1. Twisted Saltergater

Yes, I think that Jesus will play in a left wing / inside left position v Swansea with Aguero back in the side. They'll rotate along the front 3 when in possession so it isn't a negative like say, Rashford or Martial stuck out on the left in Mourinho's rigid formation.

De Jesus may have emerged but that doesn't mean Guardiola has changed. He'll still rotate players out unexpectedly. And that includes de Jesus.

I agree that he's not going to play 10 of 10 games, but 8 possibly? I think a crucial factor is the Swansea, Bournemouth, Sunderland fixtures in 3 of the next 4. With Aguero, there will be a huge pressure to sell ahead of the blanks, but perhaps Jesus at 9m is benchable?

Depends on the rest of your squad, how many United and Arsenal you have for example and whether you want to bench them in GW26.

I think a better case can be made for having Sterling or especially Sané myself. But not with 3 blanks in the next 5 games as it looks.

            8 years, 10 months ago

I think another factor is how many strikers are people clambering to own right now? Kane has now blanked home to Hull and Burnley and away to Sunderland. Ibra has had 2 attempts to break open Hull and failed. While we have many options in midfield, where are the strikers stepping up?

If people have teams full of Arsenal and Man United players (I only have Sanchez), then definitely the common sense move would be to move these on for players that don't blank in GW26, but I doubt GW26 is that much of a concern for most. Perhaps we're planning too far ahead if we're allowing GW28 blanks to cloud our judgement now? Lots of points to be gained between then and now surely.

            1. Ruth_NZ

GW28 will very likely be less of an issue than people are assuming. So I agree about that part. The best course of action will be to arrive in GW26 with 2 FTs and wait for the FA Cup results.

GW26 is more defined, however, and that's why I suggested that it depends on the rest of your squad. Personally I have 2 United and 1 Arsenal so adding a City player for 2 games followed by (probably) 2 blanks in 3 weeks doesn't appeal. But in your situation there's more merit to the idea.

I'd still worry about Guardiola's rotation and I'd still prefer Sané if I were taking a City punt. But maybe that's because it's been a long time since I had 3 strikers, I have been set up for 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 most of the season.

I'd be all over Sané or Sterling if my midfield had an available spot but with Giroud being an obvious transfer out candidate this week, then taking care of that and taking a hit for a Citeh midfielder (to potentially taking another hit to transfer out...) loses the attraction somewhat.

With Pep taking off Silva, De Bruyne and Sterling early vs West Ham, it's looking like they'll be back in against Swansea with Sané or Jesus missing out this time around (assuming Aguero starts this one...!). Perhaps Fernandinho also comes in for Yaya.

This is the thing with Pep, you just can't predict it. The last time he left a fit Sterling out of the squad completely was after subbing him out in the previous game.

Boiled right down, in your situation and with Giroud to replace then de Jesus is a good choice - some risk but a big upside potential. The alternative that I would consider is Deeney who also has no GW28 as it stands. The options with confirmed GW28 fixtures - Llorente, Rondon, Carroll - are all very meh.

So, you have my full permission to take that punt! And good luck with it if you do. 😀

I made the move last night, so perhaps I'm trying to justify it slightly 😉

I can't recall such a great FPL season. I like taking the odd hit here and there yet I'm still hovering around 10k OR. I can definitely recall some moves that I failed to make to improve on that but I'm sure that's the same for everyone.

It just feels so good that players are having dips in form (from an FPL points scoring perspective), so dullard managers are not having it all their own way this year.

I played the first 10 weeks too passively and it has taken a while for me to recover. But hovering around 20k for the last few weeks (16 points behind you) so at least I'm in some kind of shape.

The next few weeks will be interesting, getting the balance right between the awareness of the blanks and the focus on the 'normal' gameweeks will find some out I think.

As Say What article stated, Pep Guardiola found Jesus.
He brought him home and believed in him.
    Jesus didnt let him down.
So now Pep is more convinced that he is right.
That his decisions are right and Jesus himself is confirmation of him being right.

Aguero is the like ancient FPL god. Many believe in him when most are afraid of his punishing hauls.

But those belief have no confirmation in really.

Old people still believe in ancient gods and they just cant accept the new order.

And the new order is that Jesus is no. 1 until he keeps scoring, working in defence and performaning like he did.

    Howgh! 😉

Don't know but he does look lost sometimes in EPL and looking up for guidance.

Never happend to him before in Spain or Germany where his philosophy was successful from the very beggining.

SA: Schlupp won't be fit for this weekend, but should be for Stoke City. Baky Sako's come back from AFCON with a hamstring problem.

Steve Mandanda's training with Martyn again, not sure when he'll play again but will be involved with U23s as soon as possible.

SA: PvA will be okay. He's a professional, he chose us and very quickly he's playing his old club. Will want to give a good performance.

Nice, I'm thinking about it myself, no way he gets benched after his displays against Palace and West Ham, his work rate is what Pep's wanted from Aguero and why he probably doesn't fancy Aguero.

      • need some help guys pls.
      • need either a Bournemouth mid or Swansea mid, priced below 5.0, as a bench fodder which will come into the team in gw 28.
      • was thinking about Fraser or Surman for Bournemouth OR Routledge or Fer or Caroll for Swansea.
      • the problem is that Caroll and Surman seem to not bring attacking returns whereas Routledge/Fer/Fraser seem subject to rotation, but still I think that Fraser remain the better option as he seems nailed on by Howe.
      • i would like to know how much is Fraser nailed on also.
      thanks

he will be a bench fodder until gw 28 where I want a mid priced below 5.0 with potential attacking returns. Given that Bournemouth will be home for gw 28, that is why I reckon to have Fraser as a good cheap differential with potential attacking returns.

    I need a cheap defender (bench fodder this week, but will need to step in at some point);

    A. Holgate (nice fixtures, but could soon be rotated)
    B. Friend (injured at the moment, but will be back soon)
    C. Yoshida (VVD out, but Southampton out of sorts)

none of those (i do not want to use an Everton spot on Holgate, plus his minutes are insecure)

maybe look at Maguire or Robertson (Hull), or Mawson (Swansea).

      1. Ha.
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 10 months ago

Unfortunately only have 4.4m so can't get Mawson. Not interested in Hull.

Not worried about using up an Everton spot, either. I have Coleman and Lukaku, and the only other player I'd really want is Baines but I cannot afford him. Their midfield doesn't interest me.

Holgate had a poor first half during the week, but most are putting that down to inexperience and having a bad day at the office. Everton fans expect him to start at the weekend.

Just comparing the Arsenal/Chelsea teams for this weekends game and Chelsea haven't got any real injuries but Arsenal...Jesus!

    Half the team are out!

    Possible lineup:

    Cech
    Bellerin/Mustafi/Kosc/Monreal
    Coq/Gabriel?
    Sanchez/Ozil/Walcott?
    Welbeck?

What are your thoughts on possible line ups?

Both Luiz and Hazard are carrying knocks and strains for Chelsea. That's why Hazard has been subbed-off early in recent games.

Do Arsenal really have so many injuries? All apart from 2 in your lineup look like 1st choice players to me.

So if I understand the navigating blank weeks article correctly, we should not transfer players in for this week(24)and next week (25) so that we could have 2FTs correct?

    1. FPL Puppy
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 10 months ago

Transfer in which player you like, just bare in mind that he might have a blank GW28 (and GW26 if it's ARS/MCI/MUN/SOU). As long as you plan your transfers and make sure that you atleast have 11 players for GW26 and enough players for GW28 (about 7-10 is average around here) then you should be fine. 🙂
No need to stop all your future plannings just because there is blanks coming up.

    Morning all

    How am I looking here? Think I'll be taking Jones out for Funes Mori today. I was considering Bavies but was swayed by some very helpful advice from the community in that Bavies is a transfer out waiting to happen whereas RFM covers me for ages;

    Jaku / Randolph
Alonso Jones (will be Funes Mori on ft) Brunt / Pieters Amat
Alli © KdB Antonio Sanchez / Fletcher
    Ibra Kaku Rondon

    Thanks!

Y0 guys, I'm thinking of playing my bench boost this weekend.

    Wise?

    Grant
    Baines - Alonso - Brunt
    Sanchez - KDB - Alli - Phillips
    Costa - Ibrahimovic - Kane(c)
Subs: Jakupovic, Yoshida, Holgate and De Roon.

B is safer, even if A is safe from blanks he's injury prone.

Thinking about interchanging KDB and Hazard over the next few weeks with blanks, works out quite well

    GW24 KDB (swa)
    GW25 KDB (bou)
GW26 Hazard (swa) - KDB blank
GW27 KDB (sun) - Hazard has west ham away
GW28 either keep KDB (stoke) or Hazard (watford)

Sound like a decent plan or a waste of ft's?

I had a similar idea when I brought KDB in for Hazard, but really, just take it week to week and save some transfers. Hard not to like the idea that mainstream players won't go near him for this run of great match ups coinciding with him really showing good form again as City turn it on. Great if you need to make up some ground.

At least for GW 26 could simply be easier to stash him on the bench for GW26, especially if Haz is still sucking.

      What's to discuss?

Jesus isn't nailed, Ibra is playing every game and is on pens.

      1. Pinky Blinders
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 10 months ago

Forgot Ibra is on pens, can't recall the last time he took one, although with the amount of flopping going on in the Hull match, you'd have thought they would have at least gotten one call.

    4. Lone Wolf FPL

He may by benched and City have no game in GW 26 so I would pick someone who is nailed and play in GW 26.
Generally this week Ibra is captain material so keep.

Coleman has looked really good in the last 2 games. He's a bigger goal threat than Baines, although I believe they will end up with quite similar points at the end of the season with Baines odd penalties.

So I currently have only 6 players likely to start in GW26 and just 2 players likely to start in GW28, with Capoue being one of those.

GW26: Nyom, Eriksen, Alli, Capoue, Benteke, Carroll
    GW28: Nyom, Carroll

With that in mind, would you:

    a) hold the WC for the later DGWs and take hits for GW26 and GW28.
    b) WC in GW26, ensure 11 starters in GW26 and GW28 and then use FTs to bring in future DGWers in the weeks to follow.

It sounds like GW37 will be the best week for the BB (which leads to a GW26 WC), but with b) you'd still have 10FT from GW26 to bring in DGWers.

I reckon ppl are overthinking gw28 weve just seen that supposed plum fixtures for top players can still result in blanks, I think as everyone will only field 5/8 players in gw28 we wont lose any ground and therefore it would be best to save for the dgw
