Cursed with a reputation of failing to deliver to form and fixture, while some have tried to dispel the myth, Romelu Lukaku chose today to slay it once and for all.

The stage was dressed and set for the Belgian.

With the fixture list driving his recruitment, there was a degree of forced faith in Lukaku.

Two blanks on the road had created an air of caution, but Everton’s home form was strong enough to offer real hope.

Bournemouth, as today’s visitors, were offering the biggest reason for optimism. Incredibly, Eddie Howe’s side arrived at Goodison Park having shipped 20 goals in their last ten outings, conceding three in six of those matches.

The script was meticulously scribed and, for once, Lukaku read and stuck to it perfectly.

It took him just 30 seconds to expose the Cherries frailties, ominously curling home a confident opener to tease the destruction that was to follow.

Bournemouth’s second half rally merely drew the sting from Everton, with Lukaku ending the match in riotous form.

Acquired by over 75,000 prior to today’s deadline, Lukaku boasted an ownership of 1.1 million FPL managers.

However, only 22% of those owners chose to back him with the captaincy, perhaps distracted by the lure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Harry Kane, having previously been stung by the Everton striker.

However, announcing himself this season with a hat-trick on Wearside, Lukaku chose Bournemouth as his next major victims and bullied them with a similar display of pace, power and finishing.

His 21-points ranks second only to Alexis Sanchez’ fabled London Stadium haul – Lukaku’s return today is the top individual score by any FPL forward.

With the fixtures remaining kind and with Gameweeks 26 and 28 booked in, his ownership and price will likely rocket.

However, while we can lavish praise his way this evening, we should not forget the frustration he can cause.

Stalling badly from Gameweek 11, Lukaku appeared stuck in a rut and unable to drag Everton from their Autumnal malaise.

But something clicked thereafter – perhaps the new arrivals on Merseyside, perhaps Ronald Koeman’s new formation – but the smile returned, and the energy and hunger came with it.

Incredibly, he now leads the Golden Boot race. Involved in 51% of Everton’s goals, boasting an almost identical points per match tally as both Diego Costa and Ibrahimovic and second only to Jermain Defoe for points per million value, the case for Lukaku is compelling.

Was there ever any doubts? Of course, but at least for tonight, we will conveniently forget the past.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is a £60m target for Atletico Madrid, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.

The Chile international, 28, has been identified by Atleti boss Diego Simeone as the man to replace Antoine Griezmann, who is expected to sign for Man Utd in the summer.

Alexis is contracted to the Gunners until June 30 2018.

Why not? Atletico is a better team and actually have a better chance winning the league than Arsenal. Atletico won last time in 13-14, when was last time Arsenal won? Titles in total Atletico is far superior last 10 years, and counting...

I hear managers on the site saying "i can't make ground on the managers above me" or similar.

It's gameweeks like this that show how daft that statement is. True, not every week will there be a huge score from a player to swing ranks all over the place like it has this week. But, remarks like the above sound like all players will only ever score 0-5 points a week.

Non-Lukaku owner here, who's been 700-800k for the last 3 weeks, but knowing had i gambled on Lukaku i'd have flown up the ranks.

You are right but sometimes you know a player will go well but you can't get him in your team.Like Lukaku for example.I have Ibra Costa Barnes play 3-5-2 with 3 injured defenders this gw.I possibly couldn't get him in.Lukaku owners very lucky cause of 4 goals but luck is no excuse in this game.

    Sanchez / Eriksen / Lallana / Phillips

Wed 15 Feb [UCL] Bayern v Arsenal
Thu 16 Feb [UEL] Gent v Spurs
[UEL] Man United v St. Etienne

Arsenal still have a lot to play for in the PL. Sanchez will start but if Arsenal are winning comfortably, then Wenger will sub him off around 70 mins. Plus there is 3 days gap between Sat and Wed.

Gambling on trollkaku(c) Finally pays off. Phillips was super poor though. Any advice on how to plan my transfer?

    Heaton pickford
    Walker Alonso mcauley friend Kinsley
    Hazard Sanchez Phillips alli Fletcher
    Lukaku ibra Defoe

Right now I'm thinking of saving 2FT and swap out ibra and Sanchez to Costa and coutinho for gw 26 Then swap back ibra for 27 and Sanchez for 28 depending on how the results of fa cup. Any thoughts much appreciated!

Coutinho is facing the best defence in the league this week. Why would you get him in?

Not for this week, planning to save this week's transfer and get coutinho for gw 26 when he face leicester city away. Not sure who to turn to when I sub out Sanchez for the blank week to be honest....

Does anyone here feel 3-4-2-1 was suiting Alli & Erikssen?

Since Son has come in Alli & Erikssen have gone off the boil and Son hogs the ball.

Yes. I think Alli is losing out the most though as Eriksen was always a set pieces player.

Erikssen was unlucky not to have a massive haul yesterday. Good defending & Valdes was saving his shots.

But Son is very direct and always finding Kane or taking the shot himself.

Rose is out for a month probably. Vertonghen back in light training though he could be back in a couple of weeks. And Davies can play LWB.

I don't even have a transfer to take him out and I got him at 8.2. No way I'm transferring him out.

      Maybe.

Son does see an awful lot of the ball compared to either Alli, Eriksen or Kane.

Alli is still playing further forward than Kane most of the time though.

I'd not be looking to ship either just yet.

Yep, 4-2-3-1 gives them more defensive responsibilities.

I'm considering keeping Eriksen, but doing Alli + Diomande > Siggy + Carroll.

    Heaton
    Alonso Brunt McAuley
    Sanchez Eriksen Phillips Snodgrass
    Kane Ibrahimovic Lukaku

    Jaku Davies Friend Amat

    Thoughts on this???

    Thanks

Isn't Zaha on five yellows? Was thinking of replacing Stan.
Who is the better replacement now? Already have Snodgrass & Philips.

Zaha needs 10 YCs to get a ban now as we are past the halfway point in the season.

So, should I get him? After what happened last night? 4-0, I mean, how many surprises is this season going to spring up?

Will have to take hits as well.

Does anyone remember the time when Aguero got some blanks and then suddenly got his haul vs WBA?

No but I remember one when Costa & Lukaku got points on a Saturday and Ibra & Aguero had to play on Sunday and both blanked.

Fortunately this time I had Lukaku and not Aguero like last time.

When I thought of recent Kun ...

      > scored -1 when I captained him
      > started on bench when I captained him
      > got a straight red card for attacking Luiz
      > got a retrospective ban after elbowing one of West Ham player

These are quite fresh in my memory.

Wondering how I can crowbar Siggy (possibly for J.Rod) in to my team.... Any ideas?
    1FT (0.1m itb)

    Foster
    Alonso - Baines - PvA
    Alexis - Dele - Phillips - *J.Rod*
    Zlatan - Kane - Lukaku

Subs: Picky(i); Nyom, Holgate, De Roon
